British newspapers reprimanded US President Barack Obama for dragging his feet on a move to impose a no-fly zone over Libya, passed almost three weeks after it was first mooted. The 15 members of the UN Security Council on Thursday approved a resolution permitting "all necessary measures" to impose the no-fly zone, protect civilian areas and impose a ceasefire on strongman Muammar Gaddafi's military.

Britain and France had pushed for military action for some time.

"David Cameron (the British prime minister) first urged a no-fly zone over Libya 19 days ago when the uprising was in full swing," The Sun said in an editorial.

"Had America listened, Libya might already be liberated and the mad dog hanging from a lamp-post. But US officials rubbished the PM's 'loose talk' and said he didn't know what he was on about," it said.
"This was not the President's finest hour. "http://www.timeslive.co.za/world/article973767.ece/British-press-raps-Obama-over...

Agreed bluestranger. They ALL want the US to take the lead, spend the money and place the most troops in another war....they have all bailed out of the other two. I'm glad President Obama didn't pull a Bush and rush in with bombers and boots on the ground to save Libya from it's dictator. We already did that...how did that work for us? How about for them? Look I feel bad for the Libyans wanting democracy and freedom from Qaddafi....but it's NOT ALWAYS OUR RESPONSIBILITY! We lost 5 thousand of our men and women, and injured thousands more..ruining many lives. WE killed thousands of Iraqis. We sent their country back to the 19 century. Why in hell should WE do this again to another country? According to the republicans We can't afford to take care of our own poor, our sick, including injured veterans and unemployed, mothers and infants, poor families living in poverty which BTW we should not see in our country! We are so "broke" according to the rethugs, our country is about to fall into the abyss. Can someone explain to me the wisdom of involving ourselves in another bottomless pit or war? The British and French are welcome to go for it...take some responsibility for some problems in their part of the world for a change. The Arab league should certainly get involved but this time I don't believe the US needs to get involved in anything but maybe shooting down some of Libya's bombers...nothing more. ...Not unless the KOCK brother pay for it AND send their kids over first!!

thats all they want, a no fly zone to allow the coalition to shoot down libyan military planes...but before you continue the typical, accusatory, unsubstantiated, biased leftylib rhetoric, not all republicans support the worlds call to disarm libya...Before Obama’s address, Sen. Richard Lugar (R-Ind.), the top Republican on the Foreign Relations Committee, came out against a U.S.-enforced no-fly zone and said the administration should first seek a declaration of war by Congress. “It’s unfortunate that over the last decade national security has become as much of a political football as it has,” said Michael Rubin, a resident scholar on the Middle East at the conservative American Enterprise Institute. “Republican leadership can be applauded and can show what it’s like to be a responsible opposition party by keeping its mouth shut.”

Rubin criticized Obama’s policy as “too little, too late,” but he defended the GOP leadership’s decision to stay quiet. “I do think it’s essential that Republicans stand behind the president when American troops are going into harm’s way.”

    • "British newspapers reprimanded US President Barack Obama for dragging his feet on a move to impose a no-fly zone over Libya" "Britain and France had pushed for military action for some time." What the hell do they need us for? We've got enough problems of our own.

Your right, Obama should have bought a ranch in Texas so he'd have a place to pick his belly button like Bush during OIF or SLEPT ALL NIGHT LIKE REAGAN while American jets shot down two Libyan planes enforcing a no-fly zone during his administration.

FYI crystal(METH)man, the name Hussein means "good" or "handsome". So which one are you calling him?
