This Picture Is Worth a Trillion $$

House Minority Leader Lawrence F. Cafero Jr., R-Norwalk, pictured standing, far right, speaks while colleagues Rep. Barbara Lambert, D-Milford and Rep. Jack F. Hennessy, D-Bridgeport, play solitaire Monday night as the House convened to vote on a new budget. (AP)
I have been corrected on this photo. It is two years old and of the Ct. Democratic Legislators playing computer games appose to doing their job. Some people seem to think it's ok for them to play computer games if they just have no need to pay attention. I mean after all, it was just their budget.

The guy sitting in the row in front of these two...he's on Facebook, and the guy behind Hennessy is checking out the baseball scores.

These are the folks that couldn't get the budget out by Oct. 1, and are about to control your health care, cap and trade, and the list goes on and on….
Should we buy them larger screen computers - or - a ticket home, permanently?

This is one of their 3-DAY WORK WEEKS that we all pay for (salary is about $179,000 per year).

As verified by Snopes.

    • While this picture is alarming in the first instant of seeing it, taking a few seconds to think about its context has me saying "Well...yeah...okay. So?"

1)Please spend Just a little time checking your facts. I know it hurts, but it'll make you look better. It only took 2-3 minutes.

      B) This pic is 2 years old

3rd) There is a great deal of difference between what state legislator makes and the member of United States House of Representatives makes.

      "General Assembly

      Term of Office

      Two years.

      Qualifications

At least 21 years of age, a citizen, a resident of the state for two years and of the legislative district for one year.

      Annual Salary

      $49,000"

    • This picture was pulled out of context and exploited for controversy.

After what a failure debate has been on this subject, I really am not surprised that this is what people are up to.

If you knew how you were going to vote, if you knew that your opponents were just going to kick the shit and not discuss anything, if you knew exactly what this person was going to say before they even said it, if you knew that, even if they were incredibly convincing, it would not change how the bill was actually going to be voted on...

      ...why would you listen?

People seem to be under the mistaken impression that Congress is "too lazy" to get a good budget done.

If you believe this, you have not been paying attention to what's been going on.

They're in gridlock and they can't get the votes to pass the budget because Republicans want to hand out 200 billion in tax cuts (which they got) and cut 60 billion dollars from education and other public services, just 'cause they can.

If I had to sit for three hours listening to these shitheads pretend to care about this issue, you'd better believe I'd be playing some video games.

People like Hindtoka are ACTUALLY IN Congress, would you listen to that for hours at a time without getting bored and doing something else?

      Think about it.

Dude, be careful, all that going on you could crash and spill the coffee. Or, God forbid, spill the Laphroaig.

We know Exactly what he's going to say:

"Take from the 99% and Give to the 1%"

    • Just putting this out there, who knows they might have been on recess? You can say a lot about one picture, but who knows the truth?

    • Point taken. And, yes that picture says a thousand words. What
an irresponsible slacker. Just so you know though, I blogged that
photo at least 6-12 months ago. Meaning it's nothing new for them
      either.
