I stated the same to a coworker when the towers fell.... They were both sprayed with an asbestos paint to "FireProof" the building.... I said how all them folks would fall ill and the gov't would't do a thing but deny, place blame and Neer help the fallen...

I live on Staten Island. Many 1st responders and clean up workers have died or are currently dying. They make these people jump through hoops to prove that the illness was related to 9/11. It is just disgusting.

BP wanted to make it look like the spill "wasn't that bad" so they had clean up crews wearing no protective gear. (insane) Then after that, they shut out the media completely. BP could no longer hide the fact that it wasn't as bad as it seemed. It's a repeat of 9/11 when Giuliani and Christine Whitman told the 9/11 workers they didn't need to wear resperaters.

Let me start by saying: I do Not begrudge you or any others that helped with the clean-up... I have done asbestos and hazardous materials removal... The thing I know is: It's illegal to demand an employee wear a respirator without a PFT....

A PFT is a Pulmonary Function Test.... If they had made folks wear respirators, they would have had to pay for each employee's PFT. The reason for a PFT is this: If per chance your lungs are unable to function properly with a respirator and you fall over dead on the job. Your family would have profound reasons to sue said employer.

To be honest we are both upset, but from different venues, if you will.... It truly disgusts me what the corporates are doing!!! Always looking for the easy way out of anything.

Many firefighters must take an annual PFT. They do not however need to be up to snuff with AHERA certification.

A little bit of my own history. I used to work for a company that screenprinted on glass. Sounds Harmless. But When I received my ink, it was always in powder format. I then had to add a solvent to make the ink pliable for screenprinting. The glass was then fired and out comes a sheet of glass with an ink texture that is unbreakable. Kinda like a Rolling Rock or Corona beer bottle. The ink is a finely powdered glass... Additions to the ink be it cadmium or even gold give the final ink color... Many reds are with Gold magnesium, many blues are with cadmium.

I was working at that company for about a year... I was really starting to feel very depressed, so I went to see a shrink. They did every test imaginable, but could find absolutely NOTHING wrong with me... So I asked if per chance it might be the ink I was using. I took a packet in and showed them. They immediately called my employer and demanded a blood test. I was 5 clicks from toxic on the range of lead and other heavy metals. It was soo bad that my blood had turned purple.

I could NOT sue my employer because what I had was called a NonTangible incident. In other words, it's not like I lost a limb... It took a couple years to work out of my system, but it was something I will never forget.

I doo wish you and others the best. It's sad how what you don't know can hurt you.

Biofuels can do anything that can be done with petroleum.

And we do not have to destroy the environment or people's health to make them and use them.

The first thing we can do is mandate that all new vehicles sold in the US must be multi-fuel and biofuel capable.

From what I hear prisoners were hired on for the cleanup and undoubtedly the money they would have earned they would never see. Probably billed out at top dollar and the taxpayer would flip the bill.

I don't think that headline was an exaggeration at all. Considering no one can eat oysters, crabs or shrimp or any fish, ANY SEAFOOD from the western part of the Gulf. Correxit and Crude oil are in the seafood. So do you want to reconsider your thoughts?

Dusty, I posted the video. I have gone to the blog that I found the article, and I went to the Youtube page and heard that thousands of people are sick and dying. And some people are sick without even realizing that it's from the water.

I posted this video for people like yourself. The Gulf is my hometown, where I grew up. I know what's going on. My little brother went swimming THIS weekend, in the Gulf and had to get out of the water because he became red, itchy, and burning. Not from the Sun! Stay strong. I am spreading the word for you.

I think you are missing a key point...

Fox News reports a bias representation of reality, just like CNN and MSNBC. A perspective. However, it's not about the articles, segments and commentary (although I would like to slap Glenn Beck)...it's about what we (the listeners) have to say about it. I watch MSNBC, but I also watch Fox too. Information is key. And the reason I say that is because we (liberals) can't defeat something or someone (conservatives) of whom we don't truely understand. The only reason Fox News has the ratings it does is because the people that watch it (conservatives) are gullible, while the rest of us watch/read other sources but we are too lazy to care enough to be taken-in by it, let alone act out against it.

Both are equally suspect.

Now that I said that, here is the point you're missing.

We (the readers/listeners/watchers) GIVE Current their credibility. We decide what is and is not 'worthy' news. If it doesn't represent what we want to see here, then we shoot it down...it's that simple. In this type of media environment, you can 'shoot the messenger'.

Of course, that is what people were saying about the ground zero first responders. This may just be the beginning.
