Bolivian president wants Obama's Nobel Peace Prize taken away...Screw Bolivia!

President Obama’s trip to Latin America this week is prompting long-time critics of the United States to renew their complaints about their northern neighbor.

Bolivian President Evo Morales used the visit to say Obama should be forced to give up his Nobel Prize for Peace.

Cuba’s Fidel Castro said Obama should ask the forgiveness of the Chilean people for the 1973 coup against former Chilean President Salvador Allende that was aided by the U.S. government. It was followed by a military crackdown.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez said Obama will not be able to gain control of Venezuelan oil with a strategy he claims the United States is pursuing in military attacks in the past week against Libya.

      so do you fully support morales because of your latin decent or because of his popularity back home?...After five years in office, the government of Bolivia's President Evo Morales faced a nationwide general strike, amid a growing popular rebellion against rising food prices.

      All of Bolivia's major cities--La Paz, Cochabamba, Santa Cruz and Oruro--were paralyzed last Friday, as workers marched in city centers and blockaded roads and highways to demand that the government substantially increase wages and take measures to combat rising prices and food shortages.Long lines of workers marched through Cochabamba in a steady downpour, while thousands of factory workers, teachers, health care workers, other public employees and students took over the center of the capital of La Paz, punctuating their chanting of demands with explosions of dynamite.

      Reelected in December 2009 by a landslide 62 percent majority, Morales has seen his popularity rating slide to barely one third. The country has been rocked by a series of escalating protests that began at the end of last year, with the government's shock announcement of an end to fuel price subsidies.

      The action sent gasoline prices soaring by 72 percent and diesel by 82 percent. The decision was rescinded in the face of violent protests, and now Morales is saying that he intends to introduce an end to the subsidies more gradually.

      Despite this tactical retreat, the damage done by the brief price hikes proved to be sustained, unleashing an inflationary spiral that has seen the prices for virtually all basic foodstuffs climb between 10 and 50 percent.

      Protests have escalated steadily as a result. Last month saw 5,000 people march through the southwestern town of Llallagua in two separate protests organized by miners and by the local farmers unions. Poorer peasants who had come in from the countryside for the demonstration looted stores, while police did not intervene.

    • I agree... Obama should give the Peace Prize back... he is not a president of peace. He, like the others, is a President of war, a President of Murder, and a President of disappointment.

      Up until about 3 days ago, I was a full blown Obama supporter. I'm even the community organizer of my county for his Organizing for America organization. Well as of today, I quit. Fuck him, fuck America. and if you dont like that, then fuck you too.

      Its all so fucking disgusting. I'm so fucking sick about everything. The healthcare, the jobs, the welfare, the poor, the hungry, the bombs, the drones, the guns, the banks, money being printed in place of books for school children, the budget crisis that allows us to fund wars on countries that never attacked us.

      Give up the fucking peace prize war pig. You dont deserve it, you fucking bastard!

    • Must be a misprint, screw OBAMA , Obama should never had accepted this prize His Daily Drone killings is observable proof that there is no peace and nothing noble about Obama. The screw is the american Taxpayer gets screwed from behind so often they don´t even look behind to see who is screwing them, anymore,

      first of the president does have a point should he have been given a nobel peace prize? i dont believe so because we are still in Afghanistan...how is that peaceful and is getting involved with libya.

    • Well, the joke that is Obama just keeps on giving!

      The Nobel prize was given to him in anticipation for what they thought he'd do. Remember all that hopey-changey shit?

      But then liberal idealism crashed headlong into the harsh limitations of an annoyance we conservatives like to call "reality". Perhaps some of you Current-heads have heard of it, but ignored it like you would a pebble in your shoe, or warnings that drugs are dangerous, or advice to wear a condom when buggering your friends' butts.

      Anyway, the reality of an Obama "presidency" (in quotes, because I can hardly call it a "presidency" without suppressing the urge to vomit) has been a severe disappointment. EVen liberals are now uttering that unmentionable word...dare I write it? IMPEACHMENT. But we all know it's just talk.

      But why shouldn't they withdraw the Nobel Prize from Obama? As Putin and Chavez noted when he received it, "now you have to earn it". Ah, there's the rub. He didn't earn it.

      And now he has launched a preemptive strike against Libya--which of course really bothers a lot of the peaceniks.

      But what really bothers me is that he doesn't have a fucking clue how to run a military operation. Headlines: Germans withdraw from NATO in protest. The coalition is failing and falling apart. The mission is not clear.

      A serious question, and without disagreeing with anything you said, assuming McCain had won how would this be any different? If Biden is replaced by Hillary and Obama resigns or is impeached, how would this be any different? If Romney, Newt, Palin, or Pawlenty takes over in 2012, or if Boehner took over next month, how would it change?
