OBAMA LIED: "LIBYA REBELS COORDINATING WITH U.S. ON AIR ASSAULTS AGAINST KADAFI"

-
-
- PoliticalAmazon
- added this
Clearly, this shows Obama lied when he has repeatedly said that the U.S. was not helping the rebels to take down Kadafi---because that would be illegal and against the U.N. charter, AND certainly an Act of War.
Not surprisingly, Obama is now trying to weasel his way out of his previous lies, and gradually get us used to the truth: " A Pentagon spokesman, Marine Col. Dave Lapan, said there was "no formal or informal contact" between the rebels and American forces"
Still, it gets more clear every day that Obama fully intends this to be attempt to build his credibility in foreign policy and national security, after he fully failed in Afghanistan, making it just another quagmire---even worse than the Iraq quagmire GWBush/Cheney created.
If we just agree that he is a Big He-Man in Foreign Policy and National Security, will this save us from endless death pits in the Middle East?

Reporting from Benghazi, Libya, and Washington
Leaders of the opposition national council in rebel-controlled eastern Libya say they are making regular, secure contacts with allied military representatives in Europe to help commanders identify targets for the U.S.-led air assault.
The contacts, conducted through the council's civilian representatives in France and elsewhere in Europe, are made by secure satellite telephone connections, according to spokesmen for the rebel leadership in its eastern base of Benghazi.
"There is communication between the Provisional National Council and U.N. assembled forces, and we work on letting them know what areas need to be bombarded," spokesman Ahmed Khalifa said in an interview Wednesday.
The contacts, which began over the weekend, are evidence of cooperation between the Libyan opposition and the international military alliance that is waging air and missile strikes on Moammar Kadafi's command and control centers as well as other military targets.
They also highlight the diplomatic delicacy of the mission and the awkwardness of a military operation designed by governments with sometimes conflicting goals. The Obama administration and the Pentagon say the United Nations Security Council resolution authorizing military action in Libya does not include airstrikes specifically to aid rebel forces.
The White House declined to comment on whether allied commanders had established regular contact with the rebels to help identify military targets. A Pentagon spokesman, Marine Col. Dave Lapan, said there was "no formal or informal contact" between the rebels and American forces.
But Navy Rear Adm. Gerard Hueber, chief of staff of Joint Task Force Odyssey Dawn, said that though there was no official collaboration, information was being passed from the coalition to the rebels. "We have told … the opposition forces how to maneuver, and we have also told Moammar Kadafi's forces what they were expected to do in accordance with the U.N. Security Council resolution," he told reporters.
In addition, current and former American officials say that CIA operatives and equipment were sent into rebel-held areas to monitor the opposition forces' activity even before the air bombardment began. It's not clear whether those operatives are still in Libya, and if so, what their current role is.....

Even if what you are saying is true, I'm still voting for Obama in 2012 because the people on the right are much, much worse. There is no other choice. I will do everything under my power to ensure that the President wins the election next year, and I can say I'm not totally happy with the President.
Some are saying that Obama should be primaried...that is the only way Obama would definitely loose...to split the vote and allow a Republican in, in 2012.
No tea-neocon Koch-roach party for me.

We don't have troops on the ground telling our missile cruisers where the mobile SAM sites and stinger nests are, of course the UN forces would coordinate with the rebels who know where these are. People need to stop pissing their pants for a second and think about these things

First off , of course they are communicating with rebels to find the targets , how else would they target Gaddafi troop positions around benghazi and other eastern cities under seige , its the boots on the ground that call in those airstrikes and the allies don't have boots on the ground.
Second of all you hired lawyers too lead the country , wordsmiths who know what to say to Cirumnavigate the law , in that context their words are judged in that realm, their exact words carefully crafted not for its truthfulness but for its legality , you may feel lied too but it was never about telling lies or truths to the average person it was about the administration getting its way and it that context you were technically never lied too , im not defending the administrations actions im just laying out the facts.
That's why they have a camp in guantanamo so the constitution does not become a nuisance , this law business is all a big legal game , find a loophole and exploit it.
American cruise missles are going to hit positions they can legally hit and the information for places they cannot legally hit is passed on to others to carry out the job , thats why you see more sensitive targets like gaddafi's house being hit by british cruise missles and more invasive attacks on gaddafi's regime being carried out by french fighter jets.
They did a whole legal tap dance with a bunch of different military organizations working together to complete different aspects of a war without legally actually going to war itself.
To me and you its war and they are ousting gaddafi we know what they're doing but they covered their legal bases and thats the way the cookie crumbles.

Since Gaddafi's military is now disguised as civilians and rebels, the coalition needs the information from the rebels to know where to aim to protect the civilians. No, I am not, and please don't try to put words in my mouth. What has been happening is that Gaddafi's army, faced with the no-fly-zone and the coalition's bombing of military targets, now has stopped wearing uniforms and has been mounting heavy artillery weapons onto civilian vehicles, thus resembling the rebels and making it hard for the coalition to know where to bomb. Gaddafi has sent them to bomb the rebel cities and even a main hospital in one of the rebel-held cities. These bombings do indeed kill the rebels' families and friends - i.e. civilians - and destroy their homes.
Anyone carrying a machine gun is a soldier? Then most Republicans are soldiers?

Libyan rebel council vows democracy, to keep oil deals

Source: reuters // Reuters
* Libyan rebel council member says wants elections
* Insists rebels can bring down Gaddafi alone, want arms
By Emmanuel Jarry
PARIS, March 23 (Reuters) - Libya's rebel national council wants to establish a secular democracy that would respect oil contracts awarded under Muammar Gaddafi if it toppled the Libyan leader, members of the council said in Paris.
Ali Zeidan, one of 31 members of the Libyan National Council, told reporters the rebels could overcome Gaddafi's forces in ten days if the coalition of Western powers continued its U.N.-mandated strikes.
Allied warplanes silenced Gaddafi's artillery and tanks besieging the rebel-held town of Misrata on Wednesday after a U.S. admiral warned the Libyan leader's armour was now in the cross-hairs.
"We want the elimination of the Gaddafi regime to be done by the Libyans themselves," Zeidan said in Paris late on Tuesday, adding that he wanted the international community to train and arm the rebel fighters.
"The wish of all the Libyan people is that Gaddafi stays alive and is then arrested and tried for all his crimes against humanity," he told reporters.
Mansour Saif al Nasr, the council's European Union spokesman, said the rebels wanted the coalition to continue their bombardment of Gaddafi's tanks and heavy artillery to ease their way back westwards.
Once Libyan territory is "liberated", the council would give way to a constituent assembly that would draft a constitution and establish a democratic and secular state, the 60-year-old former diplomat turned businessman said.
Al Nasr, who has been in exile since Gaddafi's 1969 revolution, said elections would be "free and transparent".
Foreign oil companies have billions of dollars worth of assets at stake in Libya and Zeidan promised those contracts would be honoured if power changed hands.
"We will respect the agreements that were signed with other countries, but certainly in the future, we will consider the countries that helped us," he said.
