ATHENS, Ga. - Alleged Athens cop killer Jamie Hood surrendered peacefully to authorities late Friday night on live television. Hood, 33, took eight hostages inside a residence late Friday afternoon. He is accused of shooting two police officers on Tuesday.
Hood was seen walking out shirtless and surrendering to authorities at about 11:15 p.m. at the Creekstone Apartments. The remaining hostages that were being held inside the residence also emerged. Hood agreed to surrender, but wanted television cameras to be present when he did it.
Officers immediately swarmed Hood after the group walked out of the house, ordering him to the ground and patting him down. He did not resist.
