Letters from the near future 3

It's only been a couple of days since my last letter, things are still pretty much in flux around the country. Back East it sounds as if all hell has broken out, even though the Federal Government has officially apologized for their actions and will make amends as long as the citizens give up and lay their weapons down. Word quickly came out about some of the lame changes they made were quite evident the same puppet masters were running the show. Now that we have our Gorilla network boys re-establishing communications the story's are incredible of our perseverance and courage of our citizens. One story made us all chuckle a bit, seems as if some Fortune 500 Execs thought they would get out of dodge, when their private jet was shot down over New York's Hudson river. Rumor has it, it was a group of defectors who had gathered intelligence of what they had planned, and since they were running a defense battery of missiles, well you get the idea. Bottom line, nobody is flying unless your Military and you better be on our side. I have some great news that my wife and I have found each other and let me tell you, I had my doubts we would ever see each other again. It's great to have my best friend back (My wife). And yesterday I heard from a friend back East, I'll let you read what he had to say;

Stoneyroad: Me and my family have packed up and are headed West along with some neighbors, word is spreading that Government forces are no longer in control of the Northwest. On day one of our journey we foolishly drove into a check point at the Delaware Water Gap and had all our electronics, most of our supply's, and our only gun confiscated. Luckily the soldiers could not get a transport to take us to the FEMA Camps. As we laid face down in the slow lane they argued amongst themselves about wether or not they should just execute us for crossing State lines with "contraband". Finally a soldier approached us (The only one older than 30) and told us we were free to go. He apologized for scaring us and slipped me a GPS as he whispered "Not long until all satellites are encrypted" It seems as if some of the "Good CompanyMen" are starting to feel like "Good Germans". So from now on out we are sticking to the back roads, siphoning gas from abandoned cars and relying on the kindness of strangers. Who knows, if our luck holds up we may stumble across some crops that haven't been "Secured" by private contractors.

As you can tell everyone has a story to tell on what's been happening to them on this current upheaval. I'm hoping for Stoney's safety and his family and friends on their journey West. We are going to try and stay in touch and bring you news of his trials and tribulations for as long as I can reach you!

Stay tuned for more Letters from the near future.

I say ....imagination...without it you would not need memory. It iis the creative power of the all that exists.

    • Just a few ideas I would like to add as food for thought.

The one thing that makes this "possible scenario" so interesting, is that if things continue as they are, it is very possible-if not likely-that some such situation will occur, and if that is the case, it is vitally important not to overlook the importance of perhaps the most valuable resource of all, actual ex military personnel, particularly those with actual combat experience, and the most valuable of that group, are Vietnam veterans. Please allow me to give one very brief but simple example.

At some point through this "mad Max" scenario, it's important to understand that this is not a Hollywood movie, or a video game, any fool can pull the trigger of a gun, but sooner or later, you will have to have the knowledge-and the ability-to actually kill someone, so how does one do this, how does a person (this does not apply to businessmen, and sociopaths who inherently have little regard for life) kill another person? the answer, as described as a military process, is basically twofold.

First, it's important to understand your justification for killing another human being, the soldiers who stormed the beaches of Normandy by and large had no problem with this, Nazis and Fascists in general, promote and unabashedly engage in human genocide, therefore you really have just about all the justification for killing them you need, in the case of this potential future conflict, it is a corporation (again, fascist fundamentalist) who are demanding the complete and total subjugation of all people, and will not hesitate-as they proved in the 1920s and 30s- That they will do whatever is necessary to ensure that subjugation, it doesn't always mean direct confrontation and violence, sometimes-like what was done to the people of East Timor in the 1970s- they simply slowly starve you to death, yes, that means your children as well, and this is typically done with the mercenary dogs they have hired (I say mercenary dogs because that is who kills old men, women and children-not soldiers, who actually do possess honor) having said all that, once one accurately perceives the corporations "soldiers" for what they really are, the psychological hurdle of taking them out is overcome. Now the second part.

Second, and this is where the valuable ex-military personnel training comes in, one has to be trained properly on how to kill someone as quickly and quietly as possible. Here is one small example of Hollywood, versus reality.

In Hollywood movies of let's say from the 60s even up to today, it may show a camouflaged soldier at night about two kill a soldier that's very close to him with his back turned and of course unaware of the other soldier behind him. The attacking soldier quickly comes up from behind the guard soldier, grabbing his head with his hands over his face and mouth, cutting his throat from ear to ear, the other soldier slumps in a matter of seconds and Falls dead, the soldier that killed him moves on to the next potential kill.this for the most part, is bullshit.

To begin with, even if you were very close to an enemy, in most cases it's going to be a few steps before you can reach them, and -this is assuming that the soldier in question is not very tired, half stoned, drunk or just stupid- will hear you coming and react, so a small diversion, some kind of noise, or sufficient background noise (enemy soldiers partying around a campfire in the distance for example) must be present so you can reach them before they can react. The next thing is assuming you do get to this person, holding their head and cutting her throat from ear to ear would be a very bad technique to kill such a soldier, remember, it must be very fast and very quiet, cutting someone's throat from ear to ear produces a tremendous amount of blood, not to mention the fact that unlike in the movies, where they go down in a few seconds, a soldier dying like this would still put up quite a struggle- dying people tend to have superhuman strength -besides all the blood and gore and noise of thrashing around, all this person has to do is give out their last bloodcurdling scream, and they've alerted their comrades and you (or your group/mission is fucked) bad move. The proper way this is done (again this is assuming that you are able to quickly get behind them before they can react) is to grab their head with hand very firmly over the mouth, and use your bayonet at the base of the head with one massive push, the goal is to sever the spinal cord, respiration stops almost instantly, and there is a minimum of blood, also lastly, if possible never leave a body on the ground where it could be detected by a passing enemy soldier, if possible find a place to quickly drag the body at least out of view and continue with your mission. This is an example of the kind of knowledge that I'm speaking of. And in a mad Max civil war type scenario, your very life and the life of your family may depend on it. I remain V

Thanks Kenny.Yes it is graphic, but so is life, and if the majority of Americans would not have had such a cavalier attitude towards their democracy-especially since 1980-we would NOT collectively be in the shit whole situation that were in today and things would not have come to this, finally (it's really sad that so many people's ass has to be in a sling just to get pissed off enough to do something) what intelligent reasonable people are doing, is telling corporate America (picture the famous scene from the movie cool hand Luke, but instead of Paul Newman, it's whatever Republican you most despise, with me it's McConnell or Boehner) that's had the absolute living shit beat out of them, while the warden (which is you, me or any of us) standing above the ditch, says those wonderful lines..." what.. we.. have..here.. is..fal..yer..to.. ca..moun..a..kate! remember that? Anyway, as the son of a decorated soldier, thank you for your service! it is not forgotten!

All said so well! Now for another thing that pisses me off, the sanitized news about the three wars we are involved with and countless other black opp actions around the world. People are waking up, but not fast enough for me!

Sounds good kenny. Remember, I don't think this is far fetched at all. I believe anything is possible in this insane world we live in. Everyday that passes, Rod Serling's visions/thoughts hit closer to home....at least for me.

    • I think this story is hard to beleive for me. An enjoyable read so far, but everybody knows that you wouldn't be travelling by car if the guvment is after you. They could easily set off an e-bomb and wipe out any circuit boards in a given area, which would render cars, radios, etc worthless. I think that is the unbeleivable crux in my mind, but computer folks like to keep technology around no matter the future it seems.

I think the characters should all be travelling by horse. No fuel, maintence, need for roads, etc.; plus you can travel in the forests which would provide cover from the arial/satalite imagery. The west was orignially "won" (killing the indigenous people) on horseback, so why shouldn't it be the case for this saga?

I guess I'm just relating the situation to zombie movies, but instead the fight is between government and rebels. All the countries you list don't have the technology that we have in the US, such as pinpoint satalite imagery.

Just trying to give you another option of where to take the story. I've enjoyed it so far, so keep up the good work.

Nope sorry, even horses require maintenance-water, food, rest and eventual shoeing (got a blacksmith handy?) how about saddles and blankets, and although it's true that the West was "won" just as you said on horseback, the enemy didn't have infrared night scopes mounted on Apache helicopters, that can pursue you night and day, and spot bodies, whether horses or human, even in wooded areas and horses can't out run vehicles or helicopters, not trying to be a bummer, I am a realist, the only way he could use horses, is you would have to be able to eliminate the threat of helicopters, either maned or drone, and that requires portable, simple function ground to air missile launchers (such as those used by Afghan rebels against the Soviets, but we're not talking wooded terrain here, we're talking very mountainous and rugged with many caves to hide and or ambush from, there's a reason why Switzerland was never successfully invaded, it's hard to get up or through a mountain Pass ( the Nazis fully understood this, or you can bet your ass they would've invaded there as well) when people are shooting and throwing huge rocks and boulders down on you.The E. bomb can be overcome though.

NOTE: i did not collaborate with Kenny on anything i wrote.
i read his 1st letter from the future and decided to write my own as a comment, Kenny has been very supportive even though my version of the future is not in lock step with his.

I encourage everyone to imagine what it might be like living in this 'possible' future and write your own letter. It's not about matching the facts of our stories perfectly or being completely accurate on what would happen.

It's about the fact that noone is saying it's ridiculous to imagine this Possible Future,
We only seem to disagree on minor details.

    • I scavenged a bunch of parts from the old garbage heaps. Most of it was total trash. Years of exposure had lead to corrosion, though I managed to clean away much of the grime with a carefully proportioned mix of mineral oils and left over propellant from old areosole cans.

Finally, after several hours of careful work I had a functioning wireless card. With this card Gorilla Radio could work some real magic. First though, we would need a high gain antennae. Carefully I wrapped the wireless card in a sanitary pad. Grandma said those pads would come in handy. The old lady had taught me a lot about recycling, now I was really glad I had listened to her advice.

Time was wasting, I picked up my gear, put it in my pack and made a motion for my dog to follow. Ever since I drank battery acid by mistake, I had been only been able to make a limited series of squeaky noises, use sign language or write messages. I could squeak out Morse code over a communications network, though I limited this to emergency situations as it took a real toll on my vocal cords.

Fearing I'd not make my next rendezvous, I picked up the pace. Reports of The Peoples Army were spreading like wild fire. Individuals were joining the cause and numbers were steadily growing. I'd heard rumours of some impressive appropriations and progress was being made on breaking some of the radio codes. If we could gather more intelligence on Government operations it could be a major advantage.

    • Day 36 of our journey and we have barely made it through Pennsylvania.
Every town we stopped at we heard the same warnings, "don't travel in large groups and don't stay on the roads for long periods of time." Any large group attracts the helicopters and gets mowed down and anyone caught traveling long distances is sent to the closest FEMA camp.
It became very clear to us that the only purpose for the travel restrictions is to keep the areas with the largest populations in ignorance of what is really going on out here. If the masses in New York only knew they would smash the baricades on the George Washington bridge and millions would be swimming across the Hudson to join the People's Army.

That's right "The People's Army" is real, It seems like only yesterday we were sitting in Passaic County watching the government controlled TV, where the only new programming is news propaganda sprinkled inbetween endless reruns of Dr. House curing the same people over & over. We thought the People's Army was a myth, or wishful thinking but now i've met them and learned they've been fighting and dying for our freedom for quit awhile now. So what else could we do besides join the fight?

For the last week we've been at one of the PA's forward training camps.
      Our new mission?
Tranporting Refugees & Recruits to the free zone in the northwest,

They are teaching us how to navigate through the restricted zones using a combination of CB radio, AM/FM radio & coded messages.
      They call it Gorilla Radio.
It's like Smokey & The Bandit meets The Underground Railroad. The PA has a network of people stretching westward that broadcast the coded messages warning us of patrols and corporate kill teams, while we use the CBs so our convoy can remain spread out without losing eachother. everyone at the camp is getting a kick out of using trucker lingo and we have all picked CB handles,
funny names like Kennymotown & ZiggyStrange. But fun time is almost over, we leave the saftey of the camp in 2 days and i don't want to be the weak link that mistakes "get off the roads immediately" for "all clear", so i'm going to spend the rest of my time studying these radio codes.

    • I would like to point out the great effect on morale of having "appropriated" a fairly large cash of those ground to air anti-aircraft launchers has had on morale, just like the US supported Chinese criminal who fled China in 1949, or the other S.O.B Batista, who fled Cuba on new years day in 1959, who thought they would simply steal everything they possibly could, hop in their Pvt. aircraft and get away, big fucking surprise, your ass ain't going anywhere Charlie! and as we continue to quickly divide up those units in every state, I think it's really wonderful to be able to sit and look at all those beautiful luxurious personal aircraft, I say look, because that's about all they are doing, sitting on the ground, Wow! and to think we could have done this shit a long long time ago, oh well, better late than never, that's enough from me right now, I've got a bunch of knifes to sharpen.
