Medical Marijuana Raids across California & Montana ...

Image
figgdimension
Shocking news: The Feds have raided more than two dozen medical marijuana dispensaries across California and Montana. Armed agents from the Drug Enforcement Administration, FBI, and ATF swept through 28 stores and greenhouses, detaining the workers there and seizing computers, plants, and other items. Where will the Feds go next? More than 20 states, including Ohio, have decriminalized marijuana or legalized its use for medical purposes.

Will you urge Obama to put an end to these raids? Just click here.

According to one worker, "They came in, guns drawn, got us down on the ground and in cuffs as fast as they could."

The raids represent a swift change in law enforcement policy: When Obama took office, Attorney General Eric Holder promised to end the Bush-era attacks on sellers of medicinal marijuana and the patients who use it. Obama made the same promise on the campaign trail:

"I would not have the Justice Department prosecuting and raiding medical marijuana users. It's not a good use of our resources." (August 21, 2007, event in Nashua, New Hampshire)
Now the Feds are even refusing to say why they conducted these raids, and if and when they'll be pressing any charges. This shift in policy puts medical marijuana sellers and patients across America in jeopardy: There's no telling what state will be next.
Will you click here to tell Obama and Holder to keep their promises and end the raids right away?

    • Just a few thoughts from someone who used to be against marijuana until going through the agonizing death of a beloved 15 year old:

The medical community is absolutely not against MM especially in California where the Medical Board of California actually came out with a policy for the "recommendation" of MM. More physicians are beginning to see its benefits and change their way of thinking when they see the progress of their patients. If there's a problem other than the Feds, I'd look to the drug companies. They have a lot more to lose while good physicians are grateful for anything that's beneficial to their patients in pain.

It's also my feeling that MM actually puts law enforcement officers at LESS risk that criminalizing it. The officers know - if they go into a legitimate MM dispensary - that they aren't going to be shot at, resisted or anything else other than getting full cooperation. It's far safer for them than walking into a drug house/corner/whatever when they have no idea what weapons they might face.

And let's not forget the taxes collected by the State of California. In these days of budget crisis, legitimate dispensaries contribute greatly to the economy.

    • it seems to me like the medical industry is behind this... just like with obamacare... (don't think for a second obamacare was to benefit the people --- requiring heath insurance or be fined sounds like it was designed to benefit the industry)... and the pharmaceutical companies want to take them out... furthermore, the pressure on the US from Mexico to end our endless demand for drugs... could also be a motive for all this... as well as maybe the distributors were not following the rules... so many valid speculations on why this keeps on happening... JUST legalize it already...

The fact that I took my dying wife to the polls to vote for this lying SOB sickens and angers me. We both really believed that change was coming and we knew that she wouldn't be here to see it. She passed away five months later.

The Union Of States will stand I think, but the question is why are the States so tethered by Federal Government? Whatever happened to a Sheriff being the top dog law enforcement in thier own counties with the right to tell any other agency to go fly a kite?
What happened to "Strong States for a Strong Union"? What ever happened to the GOP delivering us a smaller government?(Rhetorical question there because what group ever would really try to cut thier own jobs, I aint that ignorant)

You want your country back, START IN YOUR COUNTY. Start with educating your community about the laws in place to protect us, and the laws in place to limit the power of others. Then demand your sheriff enforce those laws in his district, then move on to the next county over.

With laws simple enough for the people who deliver your newspaper to understand there is no room for biased interpretations.

    • The war on terrorism and the war on drugs are mutually exclusive.

The war on drugs is terrorism. It's the systematic use of violence and intimidation as a means to achieve a political goal. They well know that cannabis is harmless, so they use terrorism to control the masses for purely political/financial reasons. They know that prohibition is based on lies.

We should consider the DEA and their puppet masters and politician backers a terrorist conglomerate. Money and control is far more important to them than the human beings whose lives they destroy, imprison, and end.

Unfortunately, making money for us/US is not the goal of the corporate big Pharma lobbyists with their campaign contributions. Add Wackenhut interests & I know why it's not legal (yet). The massive prescription of hypertensive/high blood pressure drugs is the primary reason everyone's kidneys are finally crapping out - marijuana lowers blood pressure without renal impairment. Now with the government's admission of its anti tumor properties, perhaps we won't have to wait indefinitely.

Just like he never stood with the union workers here in WI. All they want to do is keep the useless war on drugs going. They really don't want people to have medical marijuana because that will take a cut out of big pharma. This is the shit our government has time and money for. There are bigger things to worry about than pot. Just legalize it and let people use it for medical purposes. I'll bet Obama and Holder get to smoke pot without any problem. Bush was the bigger joke when it came to this. That alcoholic coke head. It's just us who can't use pot. Just more police state tactics.

When Holder announced that they were taking a hands off approach to the medical marijuana in states that allow it, he also added the caveat that they would still pursue cases which involved organized crime or inter-state trafficking.
I have read there were a total of 74 raids since Pres. Obama took office but there were very few arrests and no indictments.
Personally as long as I know they are not turning the Hubble telescope around to check out my "tomato" garden, I feel a little safer.

      1. Cannabis does have pain relief properties. It treats pain.

      2. The abuse does not come from cannabis users of any sort (medical or recreational). The abuse comes from the war on drugs and is perpetrated against the people by our government. The truth -- reality itself -- has been abused by those who made cannabis illegal, and those who started the war on drugs for ulterior motives.

My sister-in-law was in such pain TWICE a month, she cycled every 15 days for years, that she even had a standing medical excuse for missing 2-5 days a month from work along with some pretty powerful pain meds. Now this was the case for only 8 or 9 years after the birth of her son. She ended up getting an emergency hysterectomy after she almost bleed to death at the store refilling her meds.

^'d And then when the people with cancer show up to get their stash- it's gone. My grandfather died a horrible agonizing death that could have been less traumatic if he had had access to MM. My good friend Krista died of breast cancer at the age of 42, and it was accelerated due to the fact she could not keep any food down from the chemo. She would have had an extra year of life had her Dr. been willing to give her a prescription for MM to help with the nausea. I couldn't even get some to her illegally, as she had moved back to Ohio so her mom could take care of her. I feel for the growers, who are just trying to make a living honestly, instead of sneaking a garden within the boundaries of a national park somewhere. Those assholes with guns need to look past the "dealers" and see the desperately sick people who need MM for their pain. So a few people take it recreationally- who cares!

I have a feeling it's even more sinister than that. Phillip Morris was behind the move to make clove cigarettes illegal. They didn't want the competition, but they didn't want to manufacture cloves themselves, because they are too expensive to produce. If they can't make a buck off of it, nobody can.

Same goes for pot. Except that even in conservative communities, the MM dispensaries became very popular and extremely profitable. In California, Prop 19 tanked because of strict regulations on the number of growers per county, selected by lottery- and they had to be mid-sized operations, supposedly to lessen the burden on inspectors. Yeah, right. By keeping the small growers out of the picture, PM would be able to buy out the mid-sized growers and achieve a monopoly in which competition from smaller businesses would actually be illegal! The tobacco industry is almost as powerful as the oil industry. No doubt this is a power play to get rid of competition. As soon as they do, we can expect to hear about an amazing new study that proves MM really does have medical benefits, and Phillip Morris will be standing by to launch their newest product line.

Um yeah, somewhere in that wierd ramblin monologue of figgs was a mention of "Johny Appleseed" as "Ditchweed", and I think your interpretation of that portion is right. But some of the rest of Figgs little rant are incomprehensible.

Figg is afraid of being alone in his ability to see the afronts to humanity being perpetrated by our government and its lobbyists and secret financiers.

Figg seems to be calling Americans to actions, to stand united or to fall devided. Freedom is freedom, and anything that is not freedom is against what this Nation used to believe in.

Figg believes there is a campaign to disillusions, discredit, and eventualy dissapear the free thinking members of our society to make the remaining people easier slaves.

Figg indicates that the IMMENSE agricultural, medical, social, economic and therefor civil benefits of the open cultivation, harvesting, dissemination, and use of marijuana, hemp and cannibus in many of its strains would perhaps contain the potential to help if not transform our civilization as a whole.

I seem to get the impression also that Figg may even support capitol punishment in cases of politicians and government agency staff having acting in such a was would be in breach of faith with the American people, and there for TREASONOUS!

Meme this meme that, heres the new meme folks, and one that is colorful, artistic or humorous. Its the flat out truth, any of our officials or elitists who act with willful or reasoned fashion that outside the best interest of American and therefor America are henceforth to be termed "Treasonists". Have fun with it, its broabspectrum, it works on both sides of the isle, in every boardroom across the country, on main streets in most average american towns, in television news rooms, and everywhere the socialites gather.
