In 2010, China took the top spot, followed by Germany.
"The United States' position as a leading destination for clean energy investment is declining because its policy framework is weak and uncertain," says Phyllis Cuttino, director of Pew's Clean Energy Program, which released a report today.
"We are at risk of losing even more financing to countries like China, Germany and India, which have adopted strong policies such as renewable energy standards, carbon reduction targets and/or incentives for investment and production."
Globally, 2010 clean energy finance and investments grew by 30% to a record $243 billion. The US received $34 billion in equity last year, a 51% increase from 2009. However, the gap with China, which attracted a record $54.4 billion, continues to widen. Germany also attracted more money than the U.S. with $41.2 billion, claiming the number two spot, up from third the previous year.

Friends, I listened to a talking head today say accept it, we're drilling gas and oil right here. We have to, alternative energy is 20 years away. I say, if this county could completely retool and industrialize for war between 1941 and 1942, we could surely meet half of our energy needs, if not all, with clean and sustainable technology IF our government would only do it! It is still the vested interests of oil and gas that is sandbagging our alternative energy development. It's time to shout it from the top of drilling platforms. It's a shame that ANONYMOUS can't sabotage drilling operations. When the cost of drilling becomes prohibitive, alternative energy will look cheap. It's all in the equation.

The answer always seems to be drill, don't look at other options, drill. If even one days worth of oil profits was spent on things such as light rail infrastructure for some areas and hybrid vehicle incentive programs a lot could be accomplished. As for accommodating our manufacturing industry to provide, we've done it before and we could do it again. I'm staying positive on this one. It's gonna take some time but it'll turn around whether people are in support of it or not.
