San Juan Co. deputy beats man with flashlight (VIDEO)

bundlebear
KOB Eyewitness News 4 has obtained the video of a San Juan County sheriff’s deputy beating 22-year-old male multiple times with his flashlight.

The incident took place between Officer Dale Frazier and Donovan Tanner around midnight on St. Patrick's Day this year. According to police, a commotion broke out at bar and police saw Tanner and another man walking away and approached the two.

In the following confusion, the deputy's dashcam video shows the officer hitting Tanner at least five times with his flashlight. Deputy Frazier later said that Tanner had grabbed his flashlight with the attempt to disarm him.

Arlon Stoker is Tanner’s attorney and said they have filed a claim to demand an internal investigation. “My client hadn’t done anything wrong, didn’t commit any crime and was viciously attacked by a deputy for reasons which are inexplicable,” said Stoker.

Originally, Tanner was charged with disarming a peace officer. “After reviewing the video, we determined it was appropriate to dismiss the charges,” said Chief Deputy District Attorney, Dustin O’Brien.

San Juan County Sheriff’s officials told us they opened the investigation on March 30th and Deputy Frazier is now on paid administrative leave. The investigation is ongoing.

    • where to start. Our whole system needs a overhaul... cops/dea agents will fight this change though because they want job security. Obviously we don't know the whole story since we seen a chopped up video but the facts speak for themselves. They f***'n beat the guy then drop what ever charges they had on him so hopefully he would be happy to just drop the case. Way to be smart and get a lawyer after this disgusting b/s... its on the inter web. We as the people need to vote on everything not vote on a person to carry out our interest's

I had a similar experience with the Portland Police and all of the authorities even the D.A.'s office forged evidence. even with the evidence showing them committing crimes I had to be the scape goat. No lawyer will challenge the authorities here in Oregon Because of $$$$$$$ in their pockets.
