Programmer under oath admits computers rig elections

Conniepae
Testimony under oath. The truth and nothing but the truth, so help him God!

This testimony is important! We have future elections! Have they 'earned' our trust?

Far too many things are judged in the court of public opinion, then we just move along. Can we move along, when we hear the truth and nothing but the truth, stating our voting machines can be hacked?

Has this been covered by our media? I hadn't heard this damning testimony. Facts matter. The 'truth' matters more. If our voting machines are hackable, it should be addressed today. After the next election 'is' too late.

How can one move along to something so wrong?

    • This is one reason why the 2000 (s)election went as it did. It was used as the precursor to these machines. I've already complained to my board of elections, because I went to vote and asked for a paper ballot and was told there was no other way to vote. I had to vote on the electronic machine. There shoud be a choice, but preferably paper ballots with receipts. How amazing that Diebold makes ATMs that give out a receipt of your transaction, but you can't get one when you vote.

I'd rather have an electronic voting machine that records the votes electronically, but also prints out a paper copy that the voter checks for accuracy before depositing into a secure location (such as a ballot box) so that there is a hard copy to recount if a recount is indeed called for.

Interesting idea. When I last voted I filled it out by hand and then gave it to the election gal and she fed it into the computer where a little message came up and told me my vote had been tabulated. I don't know if there was a way for the county clerk to count the original ballots or not--but I will find out!

In Oregon we vote by mail. It is a great system because it leaves a paper trail. Most people I know receive their ballets in the mail two weeks before the voting deadline. Then they can either mail them back or drop them off at a ballet drop station in almost every city hall and court house. No lines at voting booths or having to get out of work. Also, when the language of a bill needs to be deciphered there is time to sit down and discuss the issues with family and friends.

      Sad, but true.

It's not over! We don't have to accept things as they are.

We need answers. This testimony was 'under oath'! What steps have been taken to address the problem? Tampering with an American election 'IS' unacceptable! Anyone who thinks otherwise, should be forced to defend it 'out loud'!

People should demand answers from their representatives. What steps have been taken to correct the problem? Have they eliminated the threat of vote tampering? If they don't have an answer, why not? Don't they care? This testimony was under oath! There is a problem, which needs correcting. What have they done?

We must know our elections are honest! We can't afford to lose our votes! The price is too high!

Unfortunately it does. Everyone acts as though it doesn't matter. I know it does!

If the problem is not addressed, we will be forced to put up with all the campaign rhetoric, all for nothing. The 'voting machines' will determine who wins, not the voters.

The only way to win is with a landslide. Winning with a margin too large to manipulate. That's what happened in '08. President Obama won with so many votes, they were unable to change the outcome, without exposing their shenanigans. They know it 'IS' criminal to tamper with an American election.

If you are up for a Revolution - Support Revolution 2.0
      http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_intro.aspx

      Overview:
Welcome to the beginning of the second American revolution.
The purpose is to educate and to move the United States and the rest of the world forward. We all know that something is terribly wrong with our country but we don't have a clue what to do about it. But we do know we cannot continue to sit around and do nothing. We are so confused, we don't realize how dangerous it is to continue voting for democrats and republicans. We've become mentally crippled and dependent on two parties and our current form of government. They can't help you. The best people to help the people are the people. Until you figure that out, you will remain lost.
      Welcome to the Revolution.

Revolution 2.0 is a revolution in ideas and technology along with a vision to move this country forward. Read common sense 3.1 and the rest of the pages on the menu. This will give you a clear understanding of what the problems are, what we need to do about them and most important, how to proceed by taking real action. Our government didn't create itself and it can't fix itself. Problems never solve themselves…

Common sense 3.1 is a call to action to address the problems of the nation.
      http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_commonsense.aspx
The second bill of rights are the baseline expectations and goals for Revolution 2.0
      http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_billofrights.aspx
The Declaration of Dissolution and Termination (DDT) is a formal and legal declaration of grievances prepared by the people of the United States to be served to the government of the Untied States. The declaration is also a formal and legal order by the people to the government of the united states to cease and desist specific government operations in accordance with instructions laid down by the Execution of Dissolution and Termination.
      http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_Intro_DT.aspx
The Execution of Dissolution and Termination (EDT) is the formal process and rules for dissolving parts or all of the old government and then terminating the old government after the new government has been fully implemented.
      http://www.osixs.org/Rev2_menu_Execution.aspx

Yes, you guessed it - this ain't no tea party.

What I do like about this movement, is that it gets the job done without violence. If violence breaks out; the government can and will impose martial law and the rest of your rights will be stripped from you. With your rights gone; your vote; your signature; and your opinion are irrelevant. With the frustration that is building in America; I can envision this possibility. Revolution 2.0 sidesteps this pitfall.
If you like what you see at this site; please vote here and let them know of your support:

    • I know everyone viewing this is wondering about the Bush "victories" in 2000 and 2004. But we should also keep in mind the recent Wisconsin elections that were supposedly "razor thin" until a woman who, had been previously investigated for election fraud, lo and behold found 7000 votes from a conservative county that hadn't been counted.

There were two things wrong here, first the vote shouldn't have been as close as it was. With all the negative publicity Walker was getting it should have been a democratic shoo-in. Additionally, at the time, the uncounted votes were from heavily democratic districts. Even some of Current's trolls had conceded that it was likely Prosser would lose. Second, was the discovery of the uncounted votes. It almost seemed as if, if Prosser lost or was losing, these votes would be available to ensure he would win. This whole thing stinks and stinks again.

It is currently being decided whether that vote should be investigated, but don't hold your breath.

      Love and Kisses

We need to have more context and to be able to apply this information or better yet integrate it into the larger picture.

At the very least there could be some brief summary of the case, when it occured, in what election, etc.

I am disappointed with current tv for not following up on this story.

I understand this is not the method you generally use to decide the??? your webposts, but why not assign some journalists to your "user webposts" or whatever you might call them and we can together (like one big happy family) look into what it all means and hopefully arrive at some sort of conclusion through the process of question and answer.

I would like that. (and I would do my level best not to sabotage it).

Keep in mind attempts at sabotage are opportunities to clear things up.

Ok I'm rambling, drinks on me!!!

If exit polls have historically had a 1 percent margin of error, we better start paying real close attention to all exit polls.
Having 10 out of 11 state exit polls flip in 2004 should have proved there was fraud going on.

    • "access to thousands of machines"

How about if they own most of them.

Your electronic vote in the 2010 election has just been bought

      Saturday, 26 September 2009 21:24

by Harvey Wasserman and Bob Fitrakis

The ES&S purchase of Diebold's voting machine operation is merely the tip of a toxic iceberg...

"Unless U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder intervenes, your electronic vote in 2010 will probably be owned by the Republican-connected ES&S Corporation. With 80% ownership of America's electronic voting machines, ES&S could have the power to shape America's future with a few proprietary keystrokes.

ES&S has just purchased the voting machine division of the Ohio-based Diebold, whose role in fixing the 2004 presidential election for George W. Bush is infamous.

Critics of the merger hope Holder will rescind the purchase on anti-trust grounds.

But only a transparent system totally based on hand-counted paper ballots, with universal automatic voter registration, can get us even remotely close to a reliable vote count in the future.

For even if Holder does void this purchase, ES&S and Diebold in tandem will still control four of every five votes cast on touchscreen machines. As the U.S. Supreme Court seems poised to open the floodgates on corporate campaign spending, the only difference could be that those who would buy our elections will have to write two checks instead of one.

And in fact, it's even worse than that. ES&S, Diebold and a tiny handful of sibling Republican voting equipment and computing companies control not only the touchscreen machines, but also the electronic tabulators that count millions of scantron ballots, AND the electronic polling books that decide who gets to vote and who doesn't.

      Let's do a quick review:
      ES&S, Diebold and other companies tied to election hardware and software are owned and operated by a handful of very wealthy conservatives, or right-to-life ideologues, with long-standing direct ties to the Republican Party;

      As votes will be increasingly cast on optiscans, touchscreens or computer voting machines in the United States in 2010, the scant few so-called paper trail mechanisms that are in place will offer little security against electronic vote theft;

      The source code on all U.S. touchscreen machines now used for the casting and counting of ballots is proprietary, meaning the companies that own and operate the machines -- including ES&S -- are not required to share with the public the details of how those machines actually work;

      Although there are official mechanisms for monitoring and recounts, none carry any real weight in the face of the public's inability to gain control or even access to this electronic source code, whose proprietary standing has been upheld by the courts;

With the newly merged ES&S/Diebold now apparently controlling 80% of the national vote through hardware and software, this GOP-connected corporation will have the power to alter virtually every election in the U.S. with a few keystrokes. Unless there is a massive, successful grassroots campaign between now and 2012, the same will hold true for the next US presidential election;"

Clinton Eugene Curtis publicly announced allegations against Congressman Tom Feeney and implicating Yang Enterprises in 2001. He gave the testimony you posted in 2004. It got national attention at the time.

      So, basically, wtf?

      Here people, put

At that time, George W. was in charge of the Justice Department. So, it is no surprise they didn't consider vote tampering a crime.

Vote tampering is a crime! I don't care that it was covered then/ I haven't heard that the problems were fixed? Did you?

Do you think it's alright to steal an American election?

President Obama proved they can't steal a landslide. The American people need to know, the only way a candidate of our choice can win is with a landslide!

Unfortunately, the Supreme Court opened the door for large sums of money to corrupt our elections, with the help of spin and disinformation. Along with trustworthy voting machines, we need trustworthy journalism. Two things, which are hard to find in America. Our media is allowed to lie, with reckless abandon.

      That's all fair enough
But why didn't you put in the details I had to search out

That video was so rude, it hurt my ears
I could only make out half of what was being said
It's one of the reasons I searched it out

So, the question remains, being that long ago
      what's the point?

What are you saying can be done about it?
Did you see the documentary about Curtis and the voter fraud incident?
      Did you read his book?
      .

On "Our Media is allowed to lie":
I researched that a few days ago. Here is what I found:

1949 the FCC instituted the Fairness Doctrine.
In 1986, it was brought to congress as a bill, The Fairness Act.
      It passed congress.
      Reagan vetoed it.

      That killed the Fairness Doctrine.
After the burial, we saw the rise of Rush Limbaugh's transformation and
Fox News and Right-Wing radio. Their appearance has polluted discourse
with their false and misleading noise.

Canada instituted the Broadcasting Act 1968
Within the Act are Radio Regulations 1986
      and
      Television Broadcasting Regulations 1987

The regulations are in a provision of the Broadcasting Act
It is the prohibition on broadcasting false or misleading news
      and written as:
"a licenser may not broadcast ...any false or misleading news."

In January of this year, the conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper
floated an amendment to remove the prohibition of broadcasting false or
      misleading news.

      * you can read it in the
Broadcasting Notice of Consultation CRTC 2011-14
      10 January 2011, Ottawa*

Anyway, Harper was roundly shouted down by all Canadians.
They said, "We don't want Fox News in Canada."

It appears Truth has to be a Law since people will lie. Right there is a classic
case for having government and over-sight.

So, now it's up to you to make it happen in America. If you don't,
then nothing will change and we'll all continue to go down the gurgler...

Fox news knows it! They have already fought that fight in court and won. Until the law is changed, nothing will change! When they sold our airwaves, did they sell more than our airwaves? Did they sell our right to the truth from American media?

Interesting that states were told they would loose federal monies if they did not install the (then) new voting machines

    • This is nothing new. Voting always has been and always will be rigged in America. They only let you go through the mechanics of voting just so you feel like you have a say in whatever puppet THEY will select for YOU to run the country for THEM.

    • I saw this on BrasscheckTV a couple years ago. This is how elections are rigged. Of course the media isn't going to cover this. They want the masses to think their vote still counts. Presidential campaigns mean ratings, so they have to have the people believe they are for real.

Wow, just think, if our candidate would win, we could investigate the crime. Oh wait, he did. Where's the investigation? Was justice served? Was 'anyone' held accountable?

How can they find terrorists, if they can't find who tampered with our elections. If someone had a program designed, it wasn't for fun. It was created to be used.

What can been done to guarantee it can't happen in the future. Prosecution for the past, would be a good example for the future. Tamper with an 'American' election and go to jail, regardless of position.

    • This is really nothing new and has been known for years. Its why companies like Diebolt don't want their voting machines to be audit able. Believe it or not, the software in slot machines gets more scrutiny than voting machines. I know about slot machines, I used to write software for them.

    • Few people understand the regulatory procedures behind counting votes; even fewer people understand the capabilities of computer exploitation (hacking). It's a dark area that we need to shed a little more light on.

If some idiot from Wisconsin can privately store voting data on a personal computer, then just magically have ~7,500 votes appear (sorry for name calling, but this is out of hand), then it's fair game for programmers.

People always say that "Your vote counts," and Michael Moore's "Capitalism: A Love Story" tells me that our vote is what big business fears most. But at the back of my mind, I can't help but feel we have some elaborately rigged elections. Maybe it's the conspiracy theorist in me--oh well, at least I'm conscious of the possibility.

Just brainstorming here: I think the two things big business fears is our ability to vote, in addition to open communication, free of legal and social constraints; i.e the internet, group gatherings/meetings.

Find The Millionaires Tea Party on Linktv or youtube and watch: will take about an hour: there's a segment where the mindless are being instructed to interrupt the flow of ideas on the web...

not for nothing and completely otr lol in fact i will say i am roleplaying a hypothetical here but it took 3 of us 18 minutes to get into a voting puter on a lark and real changes were possible

in umm a dream i had

but anyway yeah its so beyond all that.. the entire procedure is a fraud to divide us and make us feel we have a say

What does the age of the video have to do with it? Are we heading to our next election? This wasn't really exposed, or changed. Why are we supposed to 'assume' it's been fixed?

The age of the video isn't important. The facts are! The truth and nothing but the truth is important. What actions have been taken to guarantee a honest, legal, election?

I was just making an observation. And, no, clearly the problem has not been fixed... And none of these political criminals go to jail anymore, ifvthey did... Don't you think that Darth Vader and the Shrub would be there now?
