yes this catastrophe isn't over and as much as warmongering people like to say "such and such day lives in infamy".. trust me these oil "spills" will not fade away as it is evident that generations unborn will have their very environment potentially compromised in order for some to make some money off resources. Even terrorist are less brutal in this type damage...
We should never forget.. that any amount of water, earth and air affects every single being on this planet. Still 10,000 students aren't enough we need millions of citizens on the streets. This is a good time to educate locally and form social bonds, I have an example (albeit cod); gardens, grow them with neighbors and teach the community how to do the same eventually raising the public knowledge and so on and so on.....

Al Gore is kinda silly, but a single goofball doesn't discredit the scientific evidence. Gore isn't the driving force behind this, he's more like a cheerleader. I have investigated and I've watched the debates and read the evidence, and the arguments for global warming hold up far better than the naysayers'.

International Corporations are not human. They were originally useful creations of man that have assumed a life of their own. They can resist outside regulation or control, and have no will or intention to do other than satisfy their own appetite. They have loyalty or responsibility to no nation and seek only profit and control. They exist as analogous cancer cells in the body of life on earth. They do not grow, they metastasize. When unregulated by a Nation they have the ability to use their wealth to subvert the political and legal systems for their own benefit.
The U. S. Chamber of Commerce is in a leadership position coordinating the efforts of many International corporations to complete our and other nations' conversion to Corporate control and eventual colonial status. This is a Post National version of the National version of Fascism in Italy in the last century. A form that does not have a National dictator to limit its autonomy.

http://www.uschamber.com/press/releases/2004/may/04-63.htm
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chamber_of_Fasci_and_CorporationsCorporatists influencing our world governments today view ethnicity, national borders, religions and parties as irrelevant abstracts which are only useful when used to divide, control, and manipulate us. Corporations are not citizens of any nation. They're a Post National form of government. A federated Corporatist World Empire. Like a tramp steamer with "a flag of convenience" they owe allegiance to no nation.

Great post Jan! I would like to say that I can't believe the media didn't cover this but unfortunately it doesn't surprise me. This is what happens when only 6 billionaires own 95% of the media outlets. There is a great documentary on the site freedocumentaries.org called "Orwell Rolls in His Grave" that everyone should watch.
I would like to add that although this is a good start, we need to expand the protest and civil disobedience movement to include protests against the govrnment and the corporatocracy on general terms not just the environment. They are screwing ALL OF US!!
If anyone knows of any groups planning such protests in the future I would be grateful for the info.

http://www.democracynow.org/2011/4/18/5_million_barrels_of_oil_does
This week marks the one-year anniversary of the worst maritime oil spill in history. Last year on April 20 an oil rig leased by oil giant BP exploded in the Gulf of Mexico, killing 11 workers and releasing nearly 200 million gallons of oil, tens of millions of gallons of natural gas and 1.8 million gallons of chemicals. We speak to Antonia Juhasz, author of the new book, Black Tide: The Devastating Impact of the Gulf Oil Spill. Juhasz attended the BP shareholders meeting in London last week and spoke on behalf of Gulf Coast residents denied entry.

My Wish List is for Medicare to cover dental caries and infections from widespread periodontal disease. Since it seems this is the place to post stuff that never happens.
Howsomever, it should not go unnoticed that June 26 is the United Nation's day to howl at the Moon since there won't have been a truly "World War" in 66 years.
The UN has, somehow, stopped world wars. That is to say, in the true sense of world war => not all the little wars certainly. True "world war" is now an endangered species.

I agree. It makes me wonder about most of the media who will not - intentionally, it seems - cover something like this, but 12 tea party people show up at some beach and cameras are there.
There is a peaceful awakening happening in America, and elsewhere in the world. Almost all America, and the world, seem to be aware of this, except the American news media. Wonder if that has anything to do with the media owners - big business - not wanting the uneducated disciples radical-right corporate welfare to be aware that there is another choice.

No, the media covers it because it is a side show and people need entertainment and distraction, and also because Koch Industries funds the Tea Party and they bought the air time. And really, low blow regarding Charles Manson endorsing Al Gore. He did no such thing. How childish. I expected better from you even if I don't agree with you on this. But you illustrated the true motivations of the Tea Party so aptly with that new talking point statement. So thanks.
