    • I find it interesting that, when you include social security and medicare, the top tax rate caps out at 36.4%. So someone who makes $1,000,000 pays the same rate as someone who makes $1,000,000,000.

      That's a problem.

    • I know that our taxes are going to need to be raised across the board at some point in the near future. The Republican party's failed policies don't come cheap. We have a $2.5 trillion unpaid war bill. We have a $1 trillion unpaid tax cut bill. We have the Bush senior drug plan that hasn't been paid. Obama spent $750 Billion dollars (Stimulus) to try and slow down the Bush economic disaster. The Republicans have left us with an almost $5 Trillion Dollar bill.

    • More than 50% of my tax dollars went to Health, Medicare, Income Security, and Social Security, but those programs are admittedly underfunded by 50%+, and we already spend twice as much every year as we take in from taxes!

      To get to those things, we're going to have to reorganize our society and make them a priority. Health and income security should be the foundation of our society, not an afterthought.

    • This actually pretty cool, break down how much I spend without my control on what. Like I spend far too much on defense but perhaps I could spend a little more on VA benefits.

      Yeah, Exactly. I make about 20k a year and the biggest thing my taxes went to was NATIONAL DEFENSE. 17% there, and a shocking 10% to Net Interest! Thank you, national debt and military, for wasting 27% of my taxes when nothing else got more than 16% ...
