Cop punches woman in the face at Atlanta IHOP
-

- KB723
- added this
In the early hours of Sunday morning, Cynthia Freeman and an off-duty police officer got into a scuffle at an International House of Pancakes (IHOP) in Atlanta. What happened next was caught on tape, in a violent bit of footage that some viewers will find shocking.
It is impossible to say, just judging from the footage, what sparked the conflict or why the officer reacted so violently. Freeman’s attorney told reporters that she was unaware the man was an officer.
The police department said they were investigating the incident.

Ok to all those that are saying the cop is in the wrong. What does it take for you to get pissed enough to fight back? The woman should not have touched the cop. Any time you touch another person that person has to right to defend themselves. Plus Ya don't interfear with a cop when He is trying to arrest somebody. From what i saw in both videos is the Officer was trying to not Harm a female and in doing so another female tried to interfear with his duties. He at that time reacted in a manner that gave Him the upper hand. That is what He is trained to do. He was trained to react not think and use proper judgement. That is where the malfunction is at. They are training stormtroopers. Not civil servents.

Doesn't really matter, they were trying to remove the first lady out, and she was resisting. That's the first mistake. Second mistake is interfering with said interaction between first lady and cop. OK, I try to make jokes to lighten things, there were 2 views from 2 different videos, though some interpretations of the laws might give some the idea that the police are above the laws, they aren't. I think we the people need to take back what the laws mean, and not let others such as our employees (i.e. Police) tell us what the laws MEAN.

This cop did nothing wrong. We have no idea what started this, but from all the videos posted what we did see is the cop is trying to arrest person A. Person B comes in and starts interfering with the cop at which point he pushes her away. Granted he pushed her by the face, but all he did was push her away. At that point person B starts swinging wildly at the cop. Then she gets laid out. Cops abuse their position all the time. This was not one of those times. You hit a cop you get what you deserve.

You can't touch, let alone hit a cop. That's the law. He will not be disciplined and she will be charged. Sorry, but you can't interfere with an officer. The minute she swung, she became a perp. I will say, however, she is either pretty tough or pretty drunk, because she took a shot straight to the face and kept going.

There were a lot of people at the scene who knew this was wrong and did nothing. If you listen carefully, you'll hear one guy say repeatedly that "this is fucking ridiculous." He's right! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battery_(crime)
"Battery is a criminal offense involving unlawful physical contact, distinct from assault in that the contact is not necessarily violent."
Wow. I was just commenting on something I know about because I went to many a protest while in college ... in Berkeley. Above is the legal definition. And believe me, I am not an agent of the establishment. Quite the opposite. I want to make sure that nobody gets hit in the face by an officer of the law or anyone else, for that matter.
Here are some legal breakdowns related to resisting arrest, not-so-funny enough the last line is exactly what happened. Remember knowledge is power. And words do hurt
Here's a good 411 on resisting an arrest/touching an officer:
Resisting Arrest With or Without Violence to the Police
There are many defenses to a resisting arrest charge. The actual charge is just resisting a police officer with or without violence - there is no need for a person to be in the process of being arrested. In fact, no one has the option to resist arrest. Resisting arrest typically leads to a charge for battery on a law enforcement officer.
Resisting Without Violence
Resisting without violence is a misdemeanor offense. It is found in section 843.02 of the Florida statutes. It is punishable by up to a year in jail and a $1,000 fine. There are defenses to resisting without violence.
Resisting With Violence
Resisting with violence is a serious felony. It is located at section 843.01 of the Florida statutes. It is punishable by up to five years in prison and up to a $5,000 fine. Whereas battery on a police officer could be simply touching that policeman, resisting with violence connotes more - the intent to do harm. The actual words of the statute are "by offering or doing violence" to the police.
Battery or Assault on a Police Officer
As stated above, simply touching a police officer can get a person arrested for battery on a police officer. This charge starts off as a third degree felony with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison and a $5,000 fine. Battery can be just about anything - touching, bumping, spitting, poking, etc. The police are trained to be very wary of just about anyone they do not know.
One of the common scenarios for battery on a police officer is downtown on a Friday or Saturday night. Someone has drank maybe a little too much and a scuffle breaks out. The police respond and begin questioning the participants. Someone's girlfriend makes the mistake of touching a police officer when she thinks her boyfriend is about to be arrested. This could be just grabbing his arm or tapping his shoulder.

The only ones who were assaulted and battered were those women in that booth. Once the PIG did this, those women had the right to do whatever they can to defend themselves. At that point, the PIG had unclean hands ( a legal term ) and cannot use the law as backup. You act as if the PIG could assault and batter whoever he pleases without repercussion.
What should have happened is the people watching should have put every cop there on the floor, handcuffed them, relieved them of their firearms, then called the FBI, sworn out a warrant and affidavit against the lot of them for assault and battery. But that would have required the people to think for themselves, and in this brainwashed, bullshit society, that's highly unlikely.

I gotta say it again.. regardless of the situation, I do not believe that cops are trained to use their fists as a means of subduing someone. He straight clocked an unarmed woman half his size right in the face, not to mention right in front of a restaurant full of people watching. I don't care what the situation was, his life was not in danger he should not have the right to do that. Cuff her sure, maybe even taze her if he absolutely has to, but a fist to the face is assault no matter what.
If he wasn't a cop and he did that, he'd be the one getting cuffed and hauled off to jail for assault and battery. The judge wouldn't give a shit what started it...

What I just don't get is that all of those people in that restaurant could have taken those fat ass cops to the ground, and instead they just sit there and laugh, video and ask why.
That fat ass cop was so out of shape you could see his fat roll jiggling as he beat that woman and threw her to the ground, and for what? Because she challenged his fat ass authority to bully another woman?
America....time to grow a set. This shit has got to stop. There are more of us than there are of them. The people in that restaurant could have created a human shield around that woman, put themselves between her and that bully cop, and smuggled her out of there.
We can't just sit back and watch this happen anymore. We have to resist, and we have to do it together. If the police are going to refuse to police themselves, then it is time for the citizens to rise up and do it. His fellow officers stood back and protected him while he did what he did to that woman, and they are just as guilty as he is. Clearly, they wasted no time building a human shield around him so that he could throw her on the ground and treat her like she was some kind of violent criminal.

Whatever precipitated this assault, the bottom line is that this cop lost control and acted in a way that was a disgrace to the uniform and badge he wears. This was way beyond accepted police protocol for subduing someone. Saying that this guy was within his rights to pummel this young lady to the extent that he did is saying that it is OK for the US Government to treat Bradley Manning the way they have. This woman was past the point of "causing danger to others" when this thug was on top of her and continuing to beat her. At that point any response from the woman was pure self-defense. This is not a humane society that would allow, condone or be on the side of a police officer who would put on this type of terrorist act before a crowd of people. Which is what he did. He was sending a message to the rest there, plain and simple. Thuggery now rules the day in 21st Century America, whether you're wearing a police uniform or judicial robes.

People react the way the PIG did based on two emotions: fear and anger! The police are trained not to display these emotions when performing their duties. A martially trained man who displays this level of fear and anger when confronted with a woman one third his size is deplorable, especially when he has been trained to do exactly the opposite. He's nothing but a scared little boy who has no business wearing that uniform.
