Idiots Launch Obama Birth Certificate ‘Layers’ Conspiracy

See, when you open up Obama's birth certificate in image-editing software, you can see and manipulate "layers" of different elements of text. Obviously, some White House intern spent the last two weeks painstakingly photoshopping the document, right? Drudge linked to a video about it and everything!
This conspiracy theory—that the White House would engage in a massive coverup only to leave the most obvious tracks of forgery—is so dumb that we will let a YouTube commenter on the video above debunk it:
It's called OCR (optical character recognition). Acrobat and many scanners do this by default. It detects letters and words on the page and allows you to add selectable text to the document without having to type it in manually.
Notice how when you hide a layer, it's white behind it? If it was truly forged, you wouldn't see any of the background missing. It's white because it doesn't know what's behind the text BECAUSE THE TEXT WAS THERE WHEN IT WAS SCANNED.
Phew. There. All Obama birther conspiracies are done for—oh, crap. It's like a dumbass hydra!

What makes me laugh is how this Birther nonsense brilliantly plays into Obama's hands without him having to do much except give them enough rope to hang themselves with ALONG with any potential candidate who adheres even in the slightest to this line of thinking.
No sane candidate will want to be guilty by association with birthers because they are perceived by most reasonable people right or left as extremist and not a little bit kooky. Trump has jumped head long into this and thereby painted himself as a crackpot. Most democrats probably pray he gets the Republican nomination.
Any serious contender to Obama will want to distance themselves from Birthers and the like which will be difficult to do because the birthers and teabaggers will throw support behind whoever opposes Obama. Once they start shooting their mouth off in the 2012 campaign as we all know they will, moderates against Obama will start to feel uneasy supporting their candidate in fear they will be painted with the same brush as the birthers.
The birthers will help to ensure Obama's re-election! So I say, keep it up birthers! Keep looking for those layers, seals, watermarks, and margins! Your unintentional comedy just shoots your overall cause in the foot! Brilliant!

They wont believe anything that goes against their ridiculous narrative. It's layering, the doctors used rollerball pins and they hadn't been invented yet! All the ink was black and everyone knows that is impossible since most ink is blue!

Cant we just go back to ignoring these people, thats pretty much what the policy was before Trump got on the bandwagon, so now that he is off the bandwagon cant we just forget these people exist? I liked that better, we ignore other stupid people all the time, like when was the last time we had a conversation about the Arian Nations, or the KKK? Cant we jut push the birthers out with them, they'd fit right in.

I was absolutely torn in how to react at what I was reading!!! On one hand, these people are so fucking delusional that it just defies any and all logic to the point that it is hysterically absurd and outrageously funny. On the other hand, as you stated, these loons actually believe they are these little brilliant Fox Mulder clones out exposing these vast and complex conspiracies. That, is a bit unnerving when you think about it. Perhaps a study should be launched at what causes people to slip into such deep pits of delusional and hysteria/dementia.

Unless you can turn Obama white, they'll never believe in his "birth certificate" (code for "racial purity").
Let's stop all the pretence and pussyfooting. We all know they have no interest in Birth certificates or where Obama was born. Call them what they are: Racists. They know it, we know it, let's ALL stop pretending.
Now, let's declare racism a mental illness and get someone to treat these fucking retards.

This reminds me of a study I read a while back.
People who believe things for heavily irrational and emotional reasons are not dissuaded by logical evidence. Rational refutations, in fact, often only embolden the idiotic beliefs.
This trait is present in something like 30% of self-identified liberals, and about 65% of self-identified conservatives.
Nothing they do will ever be good enough. Some people are just going to believe what they are going to believe and there's nothing you can do about it.
In practical man's speak, this is known as "you can't fix stupid."

Obama has repeatedly stirred up the birther mess when there was no reason to do so. I'm not blaming him because he is the identified victim here, but I am saying that both sides benefit from keeping so many political junies absolutely seduced and mesmerized by the birther business. It allows politicians of both sides to do shit behind our backs while we aren't paying attention to the other news....because we are focused on...

Thanks for the explanation. Will it slow down the new Birther-Layers Conspiracy Theory?
NO.
Seriously, folks. We have to move on.
This Libya-drone thing is nuts, and now they've capture 16 journalists, including one American and one Canadian.
The use of the drones is bad news because they are seen by Muslims as being used only to target Muslim countries (and they have a point, there, must admit).
Now that our western journalists are being captured and detained, it's just the excuse Obama needs to blow this up into another Afghanistan clusterfuck.
I think, with the drones, we are past the point of no return, anyway...they mainly kill civilians, with a terrorist or two, here and there.
Anyway, just my opinion. Your mileage may vary.
