Bin Laden's death: where are the photos Mr. President?

Aimee_Kligman
As the celebration continues for Americans and people around the world at the news of Osama bin Laden's death as announced by President Barack Obama on May 1, 2011, there is a bit of head scratching going on for hard facts and evidence.

One of the very first troubling reports came by way of news that bin Laden had been spotted in the Abadabad area as early as August of 2010. If he and entourage had moved into this million dollar mansion, as described by various media, it would have had to be with the blessing of some high ranking Pakistani official. Abadabad is as far from a cave dwelling as one can imagine, with the equivalent of the US West Point Academy within walking distance. If he indeed had been living there for eight months, why did he not meet his maker any sooner?

And then, there are no credible pictures. Some will recall the plethora of photos that made their way to accompany headlines of the capture and death of Saddam Hussein's sons, and though their bodies had been cleaned up to the extent possible, their identity was unmistakable. At the time, this was a trophy for President Bush who was convinced that Hussein had ties to al-Qaeda, though the story changed so many times during the course of the war in Iraq that it was hard to keep track.

Don't just blindly reject the DNA evidence line. The Ben Laden family is huge and DNA samples could have been obtained from myriad family members including many who live in the USA. Try a Google search and prepare to be surprised at the diverse locations in which family members reside.

I trust our president and our military, why don't you?

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but that is exactly what they did.

And the MSM --even my beloved LATimes--ran with it like it was the end of WWII.

On the front of the LATimes is a hint as to something else the U.S. is trying to whitewash now--the slaughter of Kadafi's son and 3 of Kadafi's children (under the age of 12) by bombing a residential compound.

No, but GWBush used 9/11 and OBL's presence in Afghanistan to justify his invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and then--by a wildly circuitous line of thinking--Iraq later.

Obama, wanting desperately to prove his Big Hero bones as president, ended up escalating what had turned out to be a low-level, stable, Bush/Cheney Afghanistan occupation.

That occupation is now an albatross around Obama's neck as we grow closer to the 2012 election, AND as Obama is trying to shove us into a full-involvement war in Libya.

This OBL capture by Obama propaganda is simply bullshit, and being done for Obama's reelection and the corporate-military's satisfaction with our level of involvement in Libya.

After all, since the original reason for us being in Afghanistan is now "MSM dead," Obama can just withdraw all of our troops from Afghanistan, and then send them a few muffin baskets for the thousands and thousands of innocent civilians Raytheon's drones and our military slaughtered, the vast destruction of their country.

I'm in agreement with almost 85% of what you've said. I believe it's withdrawal justification, and the fact that attacks against Americans are on the rise in Afpak and so is anti-American sentiment. And it will certainly help those low ratings he spoke about at the Washington Press Corps dinner. I'm not sure the country will back an invasion of Libya.

There's probably some kind of algebraic function that relates "American gullibility and lack of memory" to "how little faith Americans really have in the people running their government."

It probably has a lot of gazindas, so I'll leave that to better minds than mine.

I'm not sure Americans will back the Libya war--actively.

But by not paying attention and allowing Obama to pull his slick moves behind the scene, like he has so far, I bet we end up in a full-blown clusterf*** in Libya.

This is OBL propaganda is being billed as "OBAMA's big win" and Americans will have more confidence with him now in his military decisions.

They will have forgotten what Obama did in Afghanistan.

But will the families of dead soldiers allow him to forget? Will those returning veterans with PTSD allow him to forget? And if the press does its job properly, they should never allow him to forget for an unforgivable surge in Afghanistan when there were only a handful of Taliban to worry about, and most were in Pakistan.

    • Aimee_Kligman:

If the families of dead soldiers or soldiers with PTSD meant one snip of a difference to Americans who don't have dead soldiers or soldiers with PTSD in their families, Bush/Cheney would never have been able to invade and occupy Iraq for so long, and remain in Afghanistan for so long. Obama would not have been able to escalate Afghanistan into his own vanity war, nor would have been able to "mission creep" Libya towards a full-scale war.

If people really cared about those who have lost their loved ones to those wars, they wouldn't be praising Obama now.

Until we get the draft--which will never happen as long as the war isn't within our borders--and the vast majority of the population don't have to send their loved ones off to be slaughtered on the corporate military altar of avarice and greed, slick scam artists like Bush/Cheney/Obama will be able to keep us churning out the body-bag-filled messages sent back to the families at home.

But make the receipt of a body-bag delivery a distinct possibility for every person in the U.S., and wars will end.

No - propaganda would have been parading photos of a dead Osama Bin Laden and saying look what we did. No, he came out, laid out some facts and time-lines, assured the Muslims of the world that we are not at war with them, and ended the conference. There is no conspiracy, there is no faked death, there is no bullshit. The found him, planned, executed the plan, and killed him. I am absolutely sure that before any of these announcements were made, an amazing amount of verification was done to ensure it was indeed Osama. Sadly, you and the other doubters of the world are not on the short list to be contacted and have you verify all the facts that pertain to his administration and national security affairs.

No--propaganda isn't just "parading photos of a dead OBL" around.

It comes in many forms and formats.

I am ashamed that basically all Obama did was say "we found OBL, killed him, and dumped his body in the water," and the MSM went with it.

      Talk about gullible tools.

I'm sorry Amazon but what exactly do you feel is the appropriate method to say we've assassinated somebody we've been looking for the last 10 years? More dramatic music? More dramatic light show? Or perhaps you wanted to see the actual video clip when the SEAL drilled him with a head shot? Perhaps you want to see the extreme close up of the entry wound and exit wound with a shot of the Al Qaeda branded Wal Mart discount card with Osama Bin Laden membership number and name embossed on it sitting right on his nose? Please enlighten me Amazon, what would satisfy you in this arena?

I will try to tamp down my vocabulary the next time we're talking about blowing somebody's head off.

I don't look at either side as inherently good or bad because each side has pros and cons. I am not making wild accusations but basing on what the person is saying! If you're telling me you don't believe anything the government tells you and the simplest of explanations are false, regardless of the factual evidence available, but do believe that wild theories, based on a huge amount of cover-ups and special ops involvement that usually entails many 1 in a billion chances of successful execution is true, then you are indeed a conspiracy theorist, regardless of the political party you subscribe to.

Then we will see photos, HD video of the autopsy, and maybe even video of the actual assassination.

you can see a video and an assassination, but do we know it's the real guy? I cannot help by give credence to Bhutto's claim that the real OBL was killed in 2007 and that the US secret services found it most inconvenient and kept him alive though we stopped seeing videos of him and got audios instead.

Ah, and the convenient lines of the conspiracy theorist rise quickly to the top. It is much easier to dismiss actual video evidence of an assassination by some far reaching accusations that it wasn't the actual person in the video. However, it is MUCH easier to go with the far reaching notion that he was killed 4 years ago and our government hid the truth from us until it was the exact right time. Knowing that sometime in the near future we'd need to pull that off, we purchased a HUGE tract of land in Pakistan, built a million dollar mansion on that land and over the next 5 years, paid people to live there and do stuff that seemed suspicious to a point but not enough to cause anybody to question it. Then, when the time was right to gain political favors, we stage a raid that cost millions of dollars and risk the lives of our military personnel and Pakistani civilians and has the potential to cause irreparable damage to one's political career and irreversible damage globally to our country's reputation and standing, all just to say we killed Osama at that point. Yep, I can see how the latter makes more sense than the former.

( they've since retracted them. the MSM was caught red handed and exposed by people on twitter providing links showing all three photo's in succession.)"

ANYTHING! that does not fit the obama is an evil marxist, fascist, socialist, commie bastard Muslim, soft on terrorism.. or is it warmonger..(they cant make up their mind ) narrative that they have going on in their head.

One- photos would never be believed by those demanding them. Period.

Two- yes, let's piss off the extremist by showing pictures of Osama dead..

Moody, I think the president's capabilities, his origins are a completely separate thing. I voted for Obama because of his intelligence. I needed air after 8 years of numbing. But this is timed so perfectly...and let's not make the same mistake again of succumbing to the fear of showing photos. Nothing could be as damaging to America as the Abu Ghraib scandal, nothing comes close or ever will...Bin Laden was just a figurehead and we need to worry about the spin offs who have become so much more dangerous than he, because they are still alive.

I think the term "moderate Muslim" is a kind of propaganda tactics, used to pre-convince the listener that all of the ones who are "won over" are "moderate Muslims," and if they are not "won over," they are "extremist Muslims."

In other words, if they don't like us, they are evil and can be killed.

I don't think bin Laden has been on AJ in years.

The cat they're claiming is OBL now looks very different than the original OBL.

Take two pictures of OBL, one from right after 9/11 and a more recent photo, lay one on top of the other in Photoshop (or just compare them), and you can see the facial bone structure is very different.

I learned from my mother, a REAL political activist--damn, I have stories of the risks she'd take--that in politics you look for the long-term patterns of the players, the patterns of behavior between the players, patterns of actions/activities, the players and the relationships between the players, and how the actions and the players make their own patterns. It's only then that you have a chance for predicting motivation and outcome.

This Mircale at Abbottabad has so many red flags for being an Obama-level propaganda gig to set Obama up for the 2012 election.

It's like the release of his birth certificate--huh? why then? There was no reason to, on the surface. But there were many reasons, below the surface.

When the compound invasion, killing and the identifying of the body with DNA, fingerprints and facial recognition are released, the very same folks who are calling for this will be back to say the President and his administration are ghouls for showing this. Just like the Birth certificate, they carried on and demand it, it was released and then the President was called out by them saying he had better things to do and should not have entertained doing what he did. Even calling it a political move to upstage others. There is no pleasing these folks who cannot and will not believe. So let them feel warm and fuzzy about this latest incident and throw up their dinners when the footage is released. Pity the same was not done during Powels UN props speech! !
