In response to the following email query from MoveOn.Org:

Dear MoveOn member,

After last night's news about the American military operation that killed Osama bin Laden, I'd love to hear what you're thinking and feeling today. What do you make of the news? How do you think MoveOn should (or shouldn't) respond?

If you have any thoughts you'd be willing to share, please reply to this email, or write to me at:

jruben@moveon.org

Thank you.

I responded with this:

Dear Justin,

In light of the "alleged" ultimate elimination of Bin Laden; alleged in reference to the cover up of his rumored death ten years ago, I think that MoveOn.Org should use this proclamation as justification to call for an end to U.S. troop involvement around the world, and particularly in the Middle East. With the major face of terrorism against the U.S. eliminated, MoveOn.Org can take this position without appearing unpatriotic. In fact, since approximately 900 military bases around the world and our endless military engagements in the Middle East have virtually bankrupted the U.S., it would be more patriotic to call for a cessation of, and pullback from, arms buildup, troops buildup, and armed engagement around the world, than not to. In light of our virtual economic collapse, it would be unpatriotic for any pro America and pro American citizen group, not to adopt a "Fund People, Not War" mantra and platform, period!

Dear Fellow Current Commenter,

What do you think? Would you care to comment to Justin?
