'A mystery Image On Mercury' Discovered By NASA's Messenger Probe

Sent to become the first craft to orbit Mercury - from Earth, anyway - Messenger's successful rendezvous briefly reignited interest in the Sun's nearest neighbour.
Since March 30, it has sent back thousands of images from the surface, but apart from the novelty factor of the first few, most since have only been of interest to the kinds of people who waited six-and-a-half years for them.

If you magnify the image you can see the remains of a trailer park at the center of the X. Weathering and geology on Earth erased the X's so people on Earth don't get suspicious when tornados constantly wipe out trailer parks here.

It's all perception. It's like looking up at the sky and looking at the clouds, saying "Hey look! there's a crocodile" - Your mind sees what it wants to see. There's nothing special about those images.

Well, based on the images on the site...
a smiling face with a big pimple,
a big X and
something that could be mickey mouse, it's not really much... why? Because NASA will say it was all done by either water, meteors and/or air. They don't believe in extraterrestrial life and don't think outside the box.

Another rip off for the scientifically gifted individuals with a Great job probably earning
What...maby...200,000 a year..low estimate. They meant to say The people who WORKED on the project for 6 1/2 years

As if I didn't have enough to do translating Ogham into vernacular Linear B, I now have to decipher the rock engravings on Mercury?

Those poor miners had to work in the worst conditions, It really does look like someone drilled for core samples though. Aliens? Secret Tech we know nothing about? Or Captain Harlock's buried Treasure?

well its a good thing that the 450 million dollars didnt go towards feeding the hungry or helping sick people... that would have been a waste of money

I'm not sure that the hungry and the sick would really have helped us get a good look at Mercury.

i'm not mad about it, but i can say that with america supposedly so poor that we are cutting food stamps, unemployment, and medical help, we should not be spending half a billion to explore a molten planet... not right now anyways... we need to get our priorities straight

it wasnt spent right now, it was spent awhile ago, and its a far more important allocation of funds than say military buildups

of course it is more important than military spending... i think you know my stance on that... it is not more important than feeding the hungry children of america or even investing in our own infrastructure and future... knowing what is on mercury is neat... but there are a lot more important things
