Today, Microsoft announced about Skype purchasing. This voice-over-Internet company was sold for $8.5 billion. Skype has a log story of formation and it had several owners. eBay and the group of investors (Silver Lake Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Canada Pension Plan Investment Board and Index Ventures) were the most recent owners. Skype CEO Tony Bates will continue to run the company but he will report to Steve Ballmer (Microsoft boss). There are a lot of rumors what Microsoft is going to do with Skype. Here are some of them: it will be integrated with the Xbox; it will help to improve Windows phone; improving workplace communication; Windows will cooperate with Facebook in order to create video chat; it is an ability to improve Hotmail.
