Two snippets drawing attention:
“Mr. Speaker, your voting record is at variance from one of the Church’s most ancient moral teachings," the letter states. "Your record in support of legislation to address the desperate needs of the poor is among the worst in Congress."
"The 2012 budget you shepherded to passage in the House of Representatives guts long-established protections for the most vulnerable members of society. It is particularly cruel to pregnant women and children..."

"The 2012 budget you shepherded to passage in the House of Representatives guts long-established protections for the most vulnerable members of society. It is particularly cruel to pregnant women and children, gutting Maternal and Child Health grants and slashing $500 million from the highly successful Women Infants and Children nutrition program.
When they graduate from WIC at age 5, these children will face a 20% cut in food stamps. The House budget radically cuts Medicaid and effectively ends Medicare. It invokes the deficit to justify visiting such hardship upon the vulnerable,
while it carves out $3 trillion in new tax cuts for corporations and the wealthy."Wonder if this will be hidden......... or discussed on the right wing sites?
When are the conservative voters going to finally figure out that the GOP is NOT on the peoples side........unless you're a millionaire or billionaire that can give big money to make sure they get elected and do your bidding for you. - 1 year ago

He sold his soul to the Koch brothers. Didn't you see him shake one of their hands after he gave his speech to Wall Street? But I am glad that he is being called out about everything he is trying to do to hurt the poor and the middle class. One question I would ask Boehner is just what did women do to deserve all these bills they have passed in the house that hurt women? And where are the women in the GOP and why do they want to be suppressed by men? We already fought that war back in the 60s, why are we re-hashing it again?

Someone needs to prod him to see if he still has a soul - so good for his fellow catholics. I am sure many feel his soul was sold to the highest bidder many moons ago.

As a Catholic, I find John Boehner to be both disturbing and disgusting. He should be excommunicated.

Catholics love to criticize each other... they forgot that "love and care for one another" is in the bible...

As one who was raised Catholic I saw a lot of caring for each other in our church and not much criticism.

Yeah we do love to have at each other. But sometimes it is for the good. There are those of us who try to bring the church out of the dark ages and into the light. Folks like would probably be burned at the stake if it were still legal.

I am not exactly a card carrying Catholic. I am too critical of the church and it doctrin. Hence I would have been considred a heretic back in the day and burned at the stake. And so would people like me who have similar complaints.

I'm actually agnostic and don't care for religion. My aunt and a few other members practice it, but they are not what i see on the streets or on TV. They just love people and they are the ones i respect the most.

I no longer go to church and believe that ther is no one true way. Organized religion causes too much friction because people try to interprit it in order to gain power for themselves. There has been more evil done in the world in the name of religion than good. I believe that if you are kind to your fellow man and help those in need then you are on the right path to whatever awaits us at the end.

Raised Catholic, nuns, private school and all. Quit going to church when my mother's batty neighbor friend tattled on my best friend and I for chewing bubble gum in the choir. Attending church became too high risk for me after that, and when I say sitting in the choir, I mean we were sitting up in the back with the organ player where nobody could see us. Everybody was the choir in the Catholic Church back then....but I did learn one of the most valuable lessons of my life in the Catholic Church.
When I was just about to enter high school I had to take CCD classes since I wasn't going to the Catholic high school, and our teacher was a young brother (priest in training) who took us to an orphanage in Chicago, assigned us each an orphan to be responsible for that day, and we all went to Brookfield Zoo. It was an extraordinary experience for a bunch of spoiled suburban kids, and I will NEVER forget going back to the orphanage afterwards and having my young orphan show me the bed and small bedside table that constituted all of his space and belongings in the world. It was exactly the swift kick in the ass I needed to wake up and realize there were people out there with nothing, who still managed to be happy.
Chicago Catholic orphanages were somewhat notorious at the time, having never recovered their credibility after some very horrible fires that killed and disfigured many children, as well as the nuns who tried to save them. I can't say I turned into a selfless human being immediately after that orphanage experience, but I do know that it changed my life. I suppose social services and foster care took over after the demise of church-run orphanages, and I can't say they are doing a better job. There were good and bad orphanage stories, and there are good and bad foster care stories. My problem with Boehner is his policies and leadership target the poor to erase the poor. They do not provide solutions, compassion or help, they just take more and more for themselves and their beloved privatization solutions that profit off of the misfortune of others, and leave the less fortunate with less and less. For me, that is a far cry from what I was taught being a Catholic meant.

My mom used to cuss at the other church goers trying to get out of the parking lot after church. It was a giant free for all where everyone was rushing home to save the roast in the oven from burning.
As a kid, well, you know, we used hers and everyone else's bad behavior to justify our own.

Well, you and i have share some similarities my friend... I went to catholic school from the 2-7 grades and for 1 yr in high school. I did everything you talked about but in NJ and even sang in the choir.
The difference between you and I though, was seeing the sex between the kids and the the adults running the church, the blaming going around and how only they, were the "true" church and believers. I saw to much of it and left. I jumped around from church and sect and mostly everything was the same... i couldn't deal with the hypocrisy.
That's why i don't care for religion or respect the church much.
