Disney to trademark US commando unit 'SEAL Team 6'

Disney has filed an application to trademark the name of the U.S. commando unit credited with dispatching Osama bin Laden.

The paperwork filed this week at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office puts The Walt Disney Company subsidiary Disney Enterprises on track to potentially start turning out toys and games labeled SEAL Team 6, the Orlando (Fla.) Sentinel said Saturday.

SEAL Team 6 has not appeared in public since its mission into Pakistan; however, Disney listed ideas such as Christmas tree ornaments, video games and snow globes as possible uses for the name.

    • I'm not anti military or a pseudo-pacifist so I'm not inherently against the promotion of the military. That being said this doesn't really sit well with me. How can you put a family friendly spin on the group of ultra-hardcore soldiers that will travel anywhere on the globe and SHOOT YOU IN THE FACE?
