Supreme Court Rejects Gitmo Appeal Over Torture

The Supreme Court has turned down an appeal from prisoners at the U.S. military base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, seeking to prevent their transfer to countries where they could face torture. Dozens of prisoners in the case had asked for a 30-day window to challenge their transfer to countries where they have a reasonable fear of torture or ongoing imprisonment. The case was rejected on the grounds U.S. government assurances that prisoners will not face torture were deemed to suffice.

    • Good the terrorists lose! If torture saves one American life in my view it is worth it,and if it prevents a terrorist attack it is even more worth it! Why should we show the terrorists any mercy you must believe they wouldn't,and haven't shown us any mercy! I see it as a case of do unto others as they would surely do unto you! Islam is the enemy pure and simple! Islam declared war on us decades ago it is time we took it seriously and crush them by any means necessary!

There were many innocent people sent there. Some day one of us may end up there just because the system has lost its checks and balance's that protect all.

I get that you hate Islam but what you are calling for could cause the complete destruction of the United States. There are a billion people the practice Islam and only 1% are fanatics. Killing Islamic people is a great way to create an indefeatable enemy.

What a scary place........ Gitmo is responsible for creating more terrorists than any other thing the West has come up with. I was really hoping for a voting back-lash in 2010 against those who opposed shutting down Gitmo. Sadly It seems Americans have forgotten The Values that created this country and once upon a time made it great!

    • If there was ever any confusion about our justice system being just. When a torturer tells you that you don't have to be worried about being tortured, You have entered the Twilight Zone.
