Are 1,500 U.S. Troop Deaths in Afghanistan Enough Reasons to End the War?

Memorial Day is coming up, and we've just passed a grim milestone: 1,500 U.S. troop deaths in Afghanistan. Enough is enough. The war isn't making us safer and it's not worth the cost, and this should be the last Memorial Day when we put military families through this kind of agony. Bring the troops home.

When hearses fill the streets all other traffic has to stop.
Jackie Gleason showed us that in Smokey and the Bandit.

quick answer... no.... war makes these pigs money... and as long as there is money, they dont give a shit about lives...
a condolence is that these soldiers have a place in heaven, but the ones who sent them to their death... well i wonder what their fate beyond life is

The way I see it is that now that Osama Bin Laden is dead, there is no reason to stay in Afghanistan. Period.

Honestly i think that cutting the head off al qaeda did much more damage especially to moral than i think they would like too admit making threats against obamas family in kenya instead of simply making attempt to do the deed is evidence of that, i think much of that network are far less commited than they would have us believe, its only been a short time since bin laden was killed, taking a path of caution.
I think that when osama died his cause really died with him and with no one to rally the troops they will lose much of there ambition toward american targets.
But the dust has not settled yet, i would say that since bin laden just got killed the other day, i would caution against any hasty decisions, but if all goes right some troop withdrawals should begin in the coming months unless the shear number of troops can speed up the afghan army training program, which would mean instead of a gradual result over the coming years, a total withdrawal could be possible in a far shorter amount of time.

I would have stopped at one. That's not fair though, because I only support hero wars like WW2, where we face imminent danger or invasion. I do not support corporate oil wars, no honor in that fight at all.

You are in danger! You're in danger talking to me. I tell about car engines that barely use any lubricating oil much less Combustion Fuels. But thank goodness just when it looks like people might hear me {Horrors!} 8 American~NATO soldiers died at one time. That will be plenty to outlast my posts.
You have been SAVED.

End The Wars, cut the MIC in half or lower, close hundreds of our bases around the world. We don't need no sticking badges!

Yes, 1,500 US troop deaths in Afghanistan is enough reasons to end the war! There's even more reasons to end ALL war. Don't forget, we have 5 wars going on, technically. We are in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Yemen and Libya. There is no reason for this except to have perpetual war going on and the MIC and the private contractors making money. Human life means nothing. Here's Michael Moore talking with Lawrence O'Donnell last night about ending the wars.

But We the Wonderful are Saving the World, through War! Whatever could possibly be wrong with THAT?! Running around proselytizing with gunfire, baptizing with bazookas, teaching people about Fire-in-the-Hold Hell.
You haven't by chance failed to take your daily Happy Pill hmm?

Bin Laden and 9/11 is why we were told, for going to Afghanistan. We should come home and call it a win for us.

You... saw... the... body?
What if the guy they killed had had one of those new-fangled FACE TRANSPLANTS hmm? And fingerprint transfers by a team of plastic surgeons? They might have had trouble finding a guy as tall as old Bin Laden, but they figured a way YEARS AGO how to make leg bones grow longer. They cut the bones and set them a bit separated so the leg bones grow together, and gradually keep the bones just separated enough to keep the legs being lengthened. Osama was INSIDE a very, very long time, plenty long enuff to have healed the new guy who took bin Laden's place.
They could've given him the best Chelation Theray, and enhanced his telomere length by Leaps & Bounds with all these wunnerful new OFF-THE-SHELF Anti-Aging nutrition products. Bin laden could quite realistically be playing tennis every morning with young nubile virgins from all over the world.
With United States money. I do not share your optimism.

No can do Crazy Lib dude!!!
They have to GO BACK AND SEARCH THE PREMISES FOR SURGICAL GARB, SURGICAL TOOLS, AND OLD PAY STUBS TO SURGEONS MOONLIGHTING FROM LOS ANGELES.
PLUS RESEARCH SOME MORE THROUGH THE HARD DRIVES THEY FORTUNATELY DID NOT EMBALM AND DROP OVERBOARD WITH THE FAKE BIN LADEN!!!
IT MAY, AND PROBABLY WILL, REQUIRE CALLING UP SOLDIER'S GRANDMAS. THE GRANDMAS KNOW THE EVIL LOS ANGELS SURGEONS ARE CAPABLE OF.
