Atheists Have the Best Sex Lives, Claims Kansas Psychologist's Survey

Today, he has finished research that he said bore out his hypotheses -- that religion and good sex don't mix. In an online survey of 14,500 people who had come from a religious background, he discovered that once they had abandoned their churches, their sex lives improved.

Maslow's hierarchy places sex as a fundamental need as necessary as physical health, oxygenation, security, and safety. It does need to happen in order for out species to perpetuate, after all. Having not been raised as a christian or any other god-fearing tradition, it is difficult for me to connect sex with guilt when it FEELS SO GOOD!!! Yay sex!!

So its a survey of people who abandoned religion and were asked if there sex lives were better after they left religion that does not include people who are religious in the study?
Made by a person who allowed any atheist/agnostic who felt like responding to the survey to do so but didn't allow religious people to participate?
All agnostics and athiests on current do you have better sex now than when your were religious? ........ *waits for predictable answers* aha see what did i tell you *print screen* heres my findings ABC ...lol.
I hope too hell he didnt get paid for this.
*Makes up new study* Former republicans do you have better sex now you're democrats respond below.....

TasteHi
-
Is sex your human duty?...wait this reminds me of a joke:
At the trenches, an officer shouted important orders to a nearby soldier.
With considerable bravery, the GI ran directly onto the field of battle, and into the line of fire, retrieving a dispatch case from a dead soldiers hands.
In a SERIOUS HAIL of bullets, he dove back into safety. "Private!!,"
the officer said, "I'm recommending you for a medal.... You saved the locations of our secret warehouses without hesitation!.""Warehouses?" the private shouted. "I thought you said whorehouses!"
All joking aside though I think thrills come in all shapes and sizes (that's what she said) especially true for those of a sexual nature, and NO MATTER how sick and depraved those Christian Sex Fiends are, I'm sure they are just as thrilled about sex as Atheists in general. Of course as Arnold would say "The best activities for your health are pumping and humping." yeah he really did say that once....

A very interesting study. I would have to say that sex has been great in both states. When under the influence, the guilty tinge added to the experience. Then came the hedonistic type. Too bad they can't be combined. Hmm?

All funny crap aside, this study ONLY reveals that LEAVING religion has a PERCEIVED positive affect on the sex lives of those who do it.
You can't compare a man and woman having sex the first time after marriage or having sex only with each other -ever- against the typical sex lives of those who've left the church or those who never have been a part of one.
Those who are succeeding consistently with their faith (atheists need to remember how powerful religious convictions are) may feel more pleasure in doing so... I doubt it, but this survey does nothing to shed light on that.
Then again, there is a lot of perceived sexual pleasure derived from doing stuff you "aren't supposed to do." A woman or man having sex with someone despite their religious convictions could be MUCH more intense than sex between typical atheists.
All I'm saying is: This is a really interesting topic, and there is a lot more research that needs to be done...
Now that I think of it... banging in the name of science sounds pretty hot.

Interesting this is about "sex" and not "love" which in my book go together. Was that understood in this survey? Anyone can have "sex", but it takes a bit more to be present in the heart, mind and soul to make meaningful love with someone you care about. Personally, I think this is crap and just another excuse to bash people who have a belief.

What I couldn't find in the article (found it online) is where the researchers found their samples. The researchers are from Kansas. If all the samples are from the area the data will be much different than sampling a major metropolitan east or west coast city or a sampling of the entire country. The article didn't specify ages. The article only mentioned a couple of areas investigated.

There's no reason for the government to research sex lives. But I'll bet this research was done with a government grant. People are satisfied or they're not. They know it. What is the government going to add that's relevant? I'm not interested in other people's sex lives or sexual preferences. There are already enough magazines in the grocery store lines with sex articles that would make insecure people think if they're not doing what the people in the article are doing their sex lives are inadequate. I only read this article because I saw what Jan saw, another attack on religion.

THe point is that your sex life conforms to a very specific and rigid classification of acceptability within most religions.
For anyone who does not fit that rigid definition, religions pile on a whole lot of gilt and shame for a normal, natural, and enjoyable activity.
I am shocked you did not know any of this, so you needed to actually ask me "what guilt" as if you have never even heard that religions make people feel guilty about sex.
It's like you have no idea that there are people out there different from you, and they have no reason to feel ashamed because of it.

I am not without sin ,so I understand about guilt but it isn't brought on by religion . when I have guilt it is because I have done something that gos against who I am ,not my religion . God knows my heart as he does everyones . If some one has guilt about what they have done . I believe it is because they don't know themseves or they have went against who they are and have to come to terms with it . If it was in fact something they feel unlivable they need to seek forgiveness from themselves and God.(no one is without sin)
If what you are refering to is if who someone is gos against what other people tell them thier religion is, again they need to find themselves and work on thier relationship with God. Because your congregation will not be standing with you when you face your maker.Of course these are just my thoughts

God is simply a character within that story. You say:
"Because your congregation will not be standing with you when you face your maker."I have faced my maker many times.

I was in catholic gradeschool and high school. Whole lot of madness there around sex . Or maybe i'm just crazy. or both. I'm too old now and my wife is 15 years younger , She's older than me in drug teardown years . I don't think she is interested and niether am I . At least she is not interested in me and I am suspicious she wants drug money when she acts even a little bit friendly. Her mother worked at alot of places . One was the Mustang Ranch in Nevada. Her mother involved a lot of her girls in the business . Even more than I have been told about . She was never religious. Her twin sister is vaguely religious in a desperate depression sort of way . But they are both drug burnouts .and both dangerous criminally insane in occasional violent rages that seem to coicide with the end of binges when they are strung out and have no drugs left. Its clear I really am crazy. They destroy everything around them. Too late to change. Today is on its way to be one of those days . I dont know which drugs she is comeing off of this time.
