(COWETTA COUNTY, GA) -- Authorities in Georgia say a teenager texting while she was driving may be a cause or one of the causes of a fatal traffic accident.
A report by WSB-TV in Atlanta said the sister of a teenage driver involved in a deadly wreck told state troopers the girl was texting on her phone as she was driving just before the crash.
The report said the teen who was driving, 16-year-old Taylor McKee died Friday night when her car ran a red light and hit another car.
The other car’s driver, 29-year-old Linda Leflore was also killed.
McKee’s sister said Taylor had only gotten her driver’s license six months earlier and that she may have been distracted by texting while driving which then caused Taylor’s car to run the red light and kit Leflore’s car.
Troopers said no one in either car was searing a seatbelt
