Thank you GOP legislators for not compromising.
Now our state will shut down and we will have to deal with:
* Can't enjoy our state parks
* Can't have court procedings heard in a timely manner
* Universities will shut down
* Essential Government services sharply curtailed
* Roads not being repaired
* Locked Highway rest stops
* No Drivers Licences issued
and the list goes on and on...
SHAME on you, GOP Legislature!

While I have not analyzed which model of economic policy works best for the general economy of the US, I believe it is safe to say that under democrat presidents unemployment tends to decrease, and that is probably due to New Keynesian economic policies, and conversely under republican presidents the number of unemployed tends to increase (especially under George W. Bush's policies), which is most likely due to the failings of Supply-Side Economics in providing new jobs.
Of course, and as obligatory adjunct, there is a lot of variables I did not consider that are very likely heavily involved in creating jobs in the US that aren't even related to the presidency or an economic model. However, I think it is compelling data and shouldn't be taken too lightly when considering what president you plan to vote for in November, especially if you are going to be looking for a job anytime soon.

Well well well, Minnesota DICTATORS are further along in their plans to destroy the state's infrastructure. They won't stop until they wipe out the lasts middle class family. Nothing will be left but the rich landowners, the GOP think the people are peasants living on their crumbs. And the saddest thing is the people elected their own executioners.

The people elected the RIPublicans based on their claim that they would create jobs. In a faltering economy, everyone looks to see what party is hammering the jobs issue the most. Unfortunately, most voters do not look past the rhetoric and look at the substance of what the parties represent. Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ohio, Florida, New Jersey, the list goes on with states that elected RIPublican governments only to find that social issues, tax breaks for the wealthy and the destruction of budgets were on the agenda.

It's the same story. One side wants to tax and spend more and one side wants to reduce spending. If Minnesota confiscates more of the peoples money through taxation what do they do next year when the state needs more...tax more? On the other hand, reduce spending and make the state live within a limit like the rest of us. Tax and spend continues to do what has gotten us into this mess nationwide. We need to change our paradigm.

You forget to mention the cons want to cut tax and spend more. That is what does not work. Rupublicans Never reduced spending 2001-2006 when they had complete control of things. Never. Though they did very willingly raise the debt ceiling for themsleves. Paul Ryans budget is not balanced, not even close. -6 Trillion in 10 years added to the deficit. Why keep deluding yourself? Clinton was the last and only President to balance a budget in my lifetime. Tax and spend, yes that is the conservative way. Then cut tax and spend to really screw things up. Sometimes you simply need more revenue. Oh by the way, Taxing and spending is the governments job, its called an economy. You should limit yourself to nor more than 10 minutes of Faux News a day. The truth is amazing, if you change the channel and see some, its a beautiful thing.

This is beginning to get so damn tiresome...the use of bullshit propaganda and lies to screw the average bloke is becoming the normal activity of this government and their corporate sponsors! The use of fear for their fraudulent 'terrorist' campaign to enrich the war machine and now this bogus budget scandal to strip away all help for the less fortunate. When people wake up and realize everything in the past 20 years has been completely favored for the corporation and their control of the whole Country ...maybe we'll see some action towards changing this, but it looks to me like they are hell bent on running/owning everything sooner than later.

Bullshit, tax cuts ie not confiscating as much of people's money has never hurt the economy because taxes don't make the economy to begin with.
Taxes don't make the economy but they can Hurt the economy by robbing money from those businesses that drive the economy and force them to open up shop in other countries and seek other ways to survive.(holding on to their capital)
Subsidies and Bailouts are not unique to Bush (these are progressive policies) and real conservatives don't believe in that shit. (that is the compromise of which i speak).
The current progressive administration is not only controlled and funded by Big Oil Companies(foreign ones partially owned by Geo Sorros) but is in pocket of G.E., Google, Unions everywhere and just about anyone who can buy a piece.
The age old ploy of finding a villain and promising to "get even with it" if just given more power is a trick they have been using for a long time and it is the nitwits (no offense) who would buy into that b.s.
Corporations and businesses are not the enemy here(they give us jobs and drive our prosperity) - it is those who would war with them because they want to take them over and take their money that is the evil here.

Great idea! Let any and all businesses and corporate entities have the freedom to do whatever they want! Because we all know that the end goal of any corporation is to promote everyone's prosperity, and that any legislation imposed on them will only take away from their ability to do so! Why dont we just eliminate all these government "services" entirely? Food-stamps? Welfare? Public Schools? Healthcare? Firemen? Who ever benefited economically from any of this crap? We should just use the government for it's military and make sure these unruly mobs of poor, lazy leeches dont band together and rob these prosperity inspiring corporations!

what about the taxes that corporations put on each of their employees? Of course they do not call it a tax, but it is.
1) a state offers millions in tax cuts to have a company move. And states are falling all over themselves to suck up and give them whatever they want and more. In the end the "winner" is so pleased and feels they have something to celebrate. This type of bidding one state against another makes US all losers. The only winner is the corporation and they can easily repeat the same tactic over and over. And then they promote themselves and pat each other on the back for what? Selling out a community? The sellout or traitor tax of big corps.
2) Big chunks of money go to management - who are basically politicians..... those with a gift of gab who generally think they are the only reason why a company makes a profit , so they take a larger and larger share , which means that it comes out of the pockets of the average worker - in effect a CEO welfare tax - invisible but still there.
3) the new location generally is glad to have them and willing to accept a lower wage. Does the money the corporation saves, go to these new employees ? No, again much winds up in executive bonus' because the move was a windfall. The old switcharoo tax

Google "Hoovervilles". That is capitalism in its pure form. The absloute most profit possible from all resources includinging materials and labor. If you do not regulate a pure profit motive, you get a two tier society in the end. The working poor and the elitle class. The middle class is purely due to regulation of the capitalistic profit motive. Unions and government created the middle class with tax policy and workers rights. If you take a minute and realistically think, a large corporation answers to thier stockholders. The less they pay you, the better answers they can give. It is very simple. This "they will take care of us if we give all over to the capitalists" has proven to be a complete failure, over and over again throughout history. But you can fool most of the people who let Fox and AM radio do thier thinking for them. It is a shame.

Of course I don't agree with that.
Capitalists and Capitalism have literally built this country from nothing into the most prosperous nation on earth.
It took progressive policies and greed by both Democrats and Republicans to suck the life out of every business venture in this country and that is where we are at today....Broke.I don't know how you can say capitalism has failed time and time again when nearly every country on earth employs elements of it to finance themselves because their socialist systems are not self sustaining (Socialism always eventually implodes on itself)
It has always been greed and hunger for power that has caused Government to over regulate under the guise of "common good" but the real reason is to confiscate revenue and to rule over the free market.(Marxism)

Any system without moderation will fail. The only way to moderate Capitalism is with regulation by a government. Unfettered, it will fail, time and time again. As pretty much anything will. As you elude to, the proper amount of regulation is the key. I beleive taxation is part of that equation, I simply do not believe tax cuts for the rich benefit the economy. Looking at the Bush Tax Cuts, (Obama if you wish to call them), have not had any benefit benefit whatsoever other than the working middle class. I have a fairly large business, the tax cuts have not affected my business at all, though the payroll tax cuts have helped my employees. My business which is manufacturing metal products and is union has not done well under conservative state or federal administrations. My helath care costs for example were increasing 20-30% at a minmum per year prior to the Affordable Care Act. Which tells me insurance companies are lying low at the moment, I have a great fear of going back to those increases if the law were to change. I was at the point where I would not have been able to provide employee medical any longer. If a government plan had that kind of increase you would call it out of control taxation, Blue Cross does it and it seems to be simply a cost of doing business although they are making record profits prior to the increase.
Greed and power as you say is the problem with government, it is also our problem without regulation on business. I could have a much better bottom line if I had no EPA regulation on disposal of chemicals and Metals. I could have a much better bottom line if I could pay all my employees minimum wage and provide no benefits. With a company my size I know the people and their families, I could not do that. To a major corporation, they have no personal attachment. It is simply a numbers game.
Bring on a balanced trade agenda where if I send a product to China it will be on the same terms as an incoming product. Punish me for hiring illegal immigrants with prison time if I am caught. This is the agenda that will fix the unemployment numers, why are both sides not with me? The Chabmer of Commerce is vehemently against a balanced trade policy, yet the Tea Party are thier lapdogs. It does not make sense.

While I agree with you on a common sense foreign trade policy, to say that tax cuts have no effect is not true for you or anyone else.
Taxes in America used to be upwards of 90%, now it is the 30s for the top bracket.
Notice that half the people don't even pay income tax so when i hear the catchphrase "tax cuts for the rich" then I know I am hearing the old class warfare trick of divide and conquer that the progressives use to maintain and grow their voter base.
" Yeh let's vote in progressives and get even with that rich guy" is the thought process that they are counting on from useful idiots to keep themselves in power.
A little examination will reveal that progressives in office are the "rich guy" - especially now that they have looted the treasury and left it empty.The Tea Party is not an actual political party but is a grassroots collection of Americans that have had enough of this game - we are all different so nobody is our lapdog, we just want sanity.

Trickle down economics does not work. If it did We would be in fine shape. A lot of money has gone into the top and the middle class is disappearing. You guys want to bring up "class warfare" That is exactly what you are doing with your diversions of captial to the rich. Why is the middle class disappearing? Put money in the head and it does not get past the head, it stays there starving the rest of the system. The Tea Party is now at the behest of AFP and other very large corporately financed organizations that are 100% Diametrically opposed to what the man on the street believes he is fighting for. Yes under Eisenhower (R) you had a 90% upper tax bracket, which he believed in. The economy was good. Income tax is not the oly tax people pay. Poor people pay a very disproportionate part of their income as sales and other taxes. They spend all of thier money. Clinton was the last president to understand you need a balance, I believe Obama does also but he is not given the chance to move any policy forward before the corporate minions like AFP begin shutting down even a discussion. It is not tax cuts for the rich, it is letting tax cuts expire that were meant to by GWB. This country can be fixed with bi-partisan agreement on tough issues for both sides. Right now it is the way of the TP or we will take our toys and go home. I spoke with a roundtable of people identifying themselves as members of the Tea Party Friday. Their biggest issue was being made to feel like beggars for medicare and SS that they had paid in to their entire live and the money was actually seen as being robbed to support wars. All but 1 of 9 had no plan to vote conservative this time as they are very scared, rightfully so, no matter how you want to paint it of medicare vouchers, or whatever the more pleasant name a focus group came up with. Give and take and move forward, one side has given way too much.

Trickle down is a misnomer, corporations HIRE when they are doing good and reinvest in their enterprise - they don't sock away the money as you suggest.
Pray tell me how confiscating their profit or cracking down on their business encourages them or prospers the economy in any manner - It does just the opposite, it has a chilling effect.
If you doubt this just take a look around you.
Business is suspending ALL hiring and expansion because it is operating in an unstable environment brought on by a tyrannical administration that mistakenly thinks that it can take control of every industry.
This is beyond the purview of the federal government and It is having an enormous backlash.I have attended tea parties since their inception and can tell you that you don't become a member of anything so i don't know who you were speaking to at your roundtable but I have no idea who the AFP is.
As I said - we are beholden to nobody and most like minded people as me aren't excited about GOP candidates not because they have a conservative label but because they are faker Rino's who aren't really conservative enough.This goes back to my original post - why compromise with people and policies that are proven to fail.
NO Compromise this time.
Progressive/marxist/socialist ideas always fail but the biggest problem with them is that they require taking people's freedom and money and Lording over their lives and that is not compatible with the whole concept of what we stand for.

“Haven’t we already given money to rich people … Shouldn’t we be giving money to the middle?”
– President George W. Bush in November 2002, acknowledging to advisors that he knew his tax cuts were giveaways to the super-wealthy. (Source.)Good Luck, And please don't shy away from your ideals as your party will. If you do not want government safety nets, let it be known. Your party has far too many people running from their true ideals for elective gains. If you beleive it, run on it.
And Obama is your president. I have always repected the office even when I vehemently disagreed with the policy, I never once called any of them names. Yes some do, but if you are a patriot as I am sure you believe, you will respect the office of the president and teach your children to do the same. So you need to break it to GW gently.
In your world old people just die on the street when the insurance company is done with them, A child with MD or MS has never has a chance. This is truly what you are saying. What is mine is mine and that is it. Many things are for the greater good, for instance, research, infrastructure, education, on and on.
What has President Obama done to upset you so? I like his Medical Care Plan, much of the country does. The SCOTUS which is right leaning will decide its validity. Why do you think your ideas better than mine?
George W Bush created the widest gap between rich and poor this country has ever experienced. Not a Fox News talking point but you can google it.
Like I said run on your beliefs. Support a candidate who wants to end SS, Medicare, Medicaid, SSI and so on. Barack Obama did not create the poor though his policies support ideas to build it. Without labor unions we would not have a middle class. That is another simple fact that is evidenced everywhere.
You go on believing Wal-Mart will take care of all of society. Right now you pay for their employees to go to the ER when they are sick, many are on food stamps.
I just do not get your disgust at this president. He has killed UBM, Put more soldiers in Afghanastan, Extended the Bush Tax Cut and many othe right wing causes. He has also passed left wing causes which you would expect from a president from the left, as I did from a president on the right. The budget has been cut for the first time on and on. He has proven his birth beyond any other president. He goes to a Christian church (If you want to call him a muslim, though he has professed to be a christian, your bible says what will appaen to you) Nothing real dramatic has changed. Bush upped the deficit more so relative to what he started with than Obama. Yes there was some noise from the left but not this poison, vehement vitriol as there is from the right.
This in past years would have been seen as very un-patriotic. But for some reason with this president it is just fine and even encouraged to stain the office of the President we voted for and, by the way he won big. (Is it the Black thing?) If so get used to it, popualtion dynamics are changing fast and the right wing redneck is going to fade into history fast.
