Old AZ white guy trick: Hold hearings on subjects that will draw a lot of public participation in small hearing rooms, then herd the people into other rooms to watch hearings on TV. Newer trick: If they show any passion, id the ringleaders, arrest and ban them. Amazing how those arrested and banned from public meetings in various buildings in Phoenix seem to be brown US citizens who are vocal critics of the pols.

Pearce seems to have taken a lesson from Sheriff Joe, who sent his deputies after some people who politely applauded a speaker granted permission to address the county commissioners at a public meeting.

    • Here is Crooks and Liars post regarding Sheriff Joe's goon squad intimidating people at a public meeting

You may recall, Ol Joe is being investigated by feds for a laundry list of complaints. Businessmen who have been critical of the Sheriff's exuberant focus on possible immigration issues at the cost of lagging work on just plan crime, slow response time to calls or MCSD performance in generally have often found themselves targets of harassment from Joe's department.

Pearce is playing to the same crowd as Ol Joe, and he needs to be watched closely lest he trounce on the rights of citizens to meet with their reps.
