40 minutes a week, 35 hours a year or 3 months in an average life – that’s how much time most men dedicate to watching porn.
But don't worry, women are not that far behind. Women spend 19 minutes a week looking at naughty stuff.
Slightly more worrying is that one in six men admit they are "addicted to looking at porn".
"Porn is a big part of people’s lives and time spent looking at it totals a massive amount but it can have a negative impact on many," said Dr Chris Forester, from the online service Help Porn Addiction.
"Just as enjoying a few drinks is fine but alcoholism affects a significant minority, it’s human nature to be interested in watching porn but for some it can ruin their lives.
"Our survey showed half of male porn users find, in the long term, it makes them unhappy and six in ten porn users are looking to quit."
Dr Forester told the Metro that porn users often ended up "with their websites or DVDs more than their partners", adding more than a third found explicit material more stimulating than their lovers.
He said: "This can create a huge strain on relationships and porn is increasingly cited as a cause in divorce cases. The sad truth is that sexual frustration or curiosity can quickly lead some people towards a feeling of helplessness and isolation, rather than feeling sexy and fulfilled."
The study questioned 1,000 men and 1,000 women on their porn habits and attitudes.
One in six men bought porn and almost half would purchase it if no one knew about it, the study found.
A fifth of males had been caught looking at explicit material, while just over one in ten women had caught their other half in the act.
Shockingly one in 20 people had recognised a friend in a porn movie and less shockingly 11 per cent had filmed their own.
