Thanks to Barack Obama's leadership, leadership that eclipses the ineffective Bush administration's by light years, Democrats were rallied to maximize political capital on the heels of the disastrous Bush administration! They seized this opportunity to stand up to Republican bullying and deliver what the majority of American's were calling for--government sponsored health care! Now that small businesses are no longer responsible for providing health care to their employees at rates determined by profit driven conglomerates, they are less encumbered by overhead and can afford to offer flexibility to those in need!
Thank you Democrats and Barack Obama!
You stood up in the face of relentless propaganda and mountains of industry bribery to deliver for The People, and for that you will not be forsaken!
"Here's a pretty sad story, that seems to be nothing new these days..." =(

As an American Taxpayer and one that is still paying his taxes to make this country great and will gladly pay the premium for this insurance in 2014, I believe it is a mistake to say that the Obama Health Care is only paid for by the two percent milkers.

No, personal responsibility is a myth.
In the real world, everyone is interdependant with everyone else.In the real world, Capitalism is dependent on money constantly flowing. If money is taken out of circulation by being hoarded in the accounts of the wealthy, the economy collapses.
In the real world, if health care IS provided to everyone, and quality education IS provided to everyone, then the rich people with their corporations have more quality employees to hire, who are healthier and work longer, thus making the rich people richer.
We also get more rich and middle class people.
But instead, we have short-sighted conservatives, letting the rich cling to their precious gold like Golem in the Lord of the Rings, and in so doing flush this entire country down the crapper.
Conservatives don't know that you have to spend money to make money.

The rich and middle class pay for healthcare. Poor people cannot afford healthcare because healthcare is simply too expensive. Most of our healthcare cost is occurs at the end of our life cycle and the bill is far too high for even the middle class. Civilized countries subsidize healthcare for all. It is the foundation for a strong country. I am always open to real world examples where this is not the case.

"...deliver what the majority of American's were calling for..." I haven't seen anything to show that the majority of Americans supported Obamacare. A large number of liberals didn't even like it, along with a majority of independents and a huge majority of republicans.
In fact, I recall seeing surveys that close to half (40+%) of Americans want it overturned. And a larger percentage than that disliked it. I'm not commenting on the issue of nationalized healthcare itself, simply the false claim made in the article regarding support for such legislation.
I responded to KB723's comment below, but here are the links for those of you that apparently think the stats I discussed are made up. Don't hate the messenger.

What we wanted was a single payer health care system, what we got is one based on insurance companies because of compromises made with the Republicans.
And yes, a lot of people don't want a single payer system, but that is because they don't know what it is, they don't understand it, and they were brainwashed by the conservative media to think it's a bad thing.
As everyone has said over and over- the Republicans are skilled at getting people to vote against their own best interests; thus a popularity poll will not tell you much.

Hold you're breath, cause when we get down to brass tacks, I'd be willing to bet any amount of money that Obama is going to cave ( I'm not sure that is the right word since I think this was the plan the whole time) to the repuglicans and they are going to seriously fuck up the economy with deep cuts to social programs and cosmetic cuts to defense, but I guess we'll see.

The first is from earlier this year showing a majority of Americans supporting repeal of Obamacare (close to half). This is consistent with my previous post. The second is a CNN poll from earlier this month and shows the trend is actually growing (more want repeal than a few months ago).
I know this isn't your fault, but I also just wanted to comment on the "reviews" of the comments made. I do not understand why people are angry at what I said and clicking the dislike button. I made no commentary on healthcare itself, simply that this article is misleading. There was and is no majority of Americans calling for universal healthcare. The results of the FOUR polls in the link I posted above prove that.
You had every right to ask your question, although you could have also very easily googled it. But I took no offense and have no problem backing up what I said. What I don't get is the -4 review of my first comment and the +4 on your question which said nothing on its own. Again, this isn't directed towards you, but really people? You hate people questioning what you believe that much? Enough to ignore actual stats?
By the way, I lived and worked in the UK for over a year while my husband was in grad school there. So I do understand how nationalised health care works (at least their system). Although, just to reiterate, I am not attempting to start a debate over healthcare.

I get a little tired of people being so entrenched in their own ideals that they become blind to anything that poses a possible threat to that belief system. This is not uniquely Democratic, I see it plenty on the Republican side as well. As a libertarian, I don't really identify with either side, so I guess I am everybody's enemy :)

This is so sad and it proves we need single-payer health care. The supposed richest country in the world should not be sentencing it's citizens to a choice of death or financial ruin. The company saw it as their opportunity to get out from underneath a big insurance liability. Rotten!

I was going to watch the video but after reading the first phrase, "Thanks to Barack Obama's leadership, leadership that eclipses the ineffective Bush administration's by light years,....." it took me 10 minutes to pick myself up off the floor after convulsing with laughter. If the video is as funny as the opening sentence I'm liable to wind up in v-fib and have to stick my finger in the wall socket to get back to sinus. Too much.

Hi KB clarify for me. How does a company firing the guy rest on Obama's shoulders? Are you under the impression that he was fired due to some reduction in Health Care provision by the Health Care bill? I watched the video, what I got was that it was due to the company being run by a schmuck. The laws that got these people screwed were written by Republicans. I think you misunderstood this one. Correct me if you know something I don't.
