Mike Stark, an activist and blogger, intercepted Leader Boehner after his highly publicized "Pledge to America" unveiling to ask him about the accusation:
"Speaker Boehner, have you been cheating with Lisbeth Lyons, the lobbyist for the American Printing Association?" Stark asks. Boehner did not respond.http://huff.to/iRKSBk

Sorry but so far this is from an old news source so I can't really trust the claim unless new evidence is presented.

Does anyone realize that this story was posted on Huffpo in September of LAST YEAR???
I guess you are all so anxious to focus attention away from Weiner no one noticed this."House MINORITY Leader John Boehner was asked by a liberal blogger Thursday to answer questions about an affair with a lobbyist."
Of course the date on the article should have been a clue also.
Another article posted on Current with absolutely no validity.
What a joke.

I'm on the fence about this. I hate it when sexual issues cloud our politics. But after watching the right obsess about Weiner for the past 3 weeks, I think this would even things out a bit.

Agree with you, but will add: When it seems like a lobbyist may be involved, it DOES become an issue and should be in the public discussion. Money is not the only thing lobbyists seem to be providing. If you can't buy a pol, maybe you can blackmail him. THAT is an issue.

It's not the cheating, it's the hypocrisy. Don't lecture America about the moral highground as you wear a diaper, order prostitutes, tap your foot in an airport bathroom, fly to Argentina to be with your mistress, or seduce underage congressional pages. Look, I don't care if you flash your penis via Twitter or arrange for a staff retreat at a strip club. Just don't run a campaign lecturing your constituents about their "evil ways" as you're carrying on affairs or perpetuating the dirty old man stereotype.
That's my problem with "conservatives." The only thing they are conserving is tax breaks for corporations or rich people who need them the least.

Not just the family values hypocrisy if it involves a lobbyist. We seem to be hearing more and more about D.C. pols and pretty lobbyist 'pol dancers'. Money is not the only way to buy a congressman.

man, talk about mixed feelings ... boner is no winner and I wouldn't shed tears [oops] over his departure ... but then, we'd have the whiny, wimpy, ignorant eric can't-or as speaker [at least 'til mid-January '13] and -to my mind- that's far, far worse !

I disagree on the fail. This was posted here earlier with the National Enquire story. The NY times is supposedly looking into this. Old news or whatever, hopefully if true this can finally show up in google searches.

I agree with your disagreement!
The controversy over Wiener was silly- it should never have been the focus of our attention, and he should not have resigned.
But Bohner specifically stated that Wiener should resign- that means that given that what he allegedly did is so much worse, he MUST resign.
I wish the press and the public would not focus on the sex lives of politicians, but they SHOULD expose the blatant hypocrisy of men like Bohner.

Boner is as corrupt and disgusting as all the rest. He's a lobbyist whore. And what does Obama do this weekend? Goes golfing with him to provide the distraction he needs. Whose side do you want to be on, Obama? You tell Weiner to resign and Boner is your golfing buddy.

Really?? I won't. No more, no more holding my nose for these fuckers that have been stabbing s in the back continuously for the past 20 years. Since Teddy Kennedy died, Obama has conveniently forgotten that he's supposed to be a Democrat.
So NO MORE, no more holding my nose for those that who won't, who REFUSE to stand up for the people that put him into office. That goes for all of them. Feinstein, Boxer, whoever, where ever I live. No more voting party line, these fuckers have to earn it. - 11 months ago

Since the other party are the Republicans, the Democrats deserve your vote.
While Democrats have moved to the right in recent years, the Republicans have moved so far to the right that they fell of the edge of the flat Earth that they still believe in.
The Republicans are so far in the realm of loony tunes that it is a basic survival skill to vote for a yellow dog rather than let a Republican win a seat in government.

This kind of attitude drives me crazy. Refusing to vote for Democrats if they don't follow strict Liberal orthodoxy only helps Republicans get elected. When progressives stay home on election day, Republicans win and we all are consigned to living under their theocratic plutocracy.
