OK, I don't want to sound like a dangerous nut, so what I am going to say is theoretical. I remember when Sharon Angle was running for Harry Reid's seat. She was quoted as saying if she didn't win, her supporters should consider second amendment options. Well, if Michelle Bachmanm and her tea baggers win, I think all of us should consider second amendment options.

America on the whole, everyone's debt added together, personal and governmental is almost 10 times what America on the whole has in assets! What part of broke don't you understand? Taxing the rich... here's where nobody seems to get this... ask any small business owner which is the backbone of America... you tax somebody who makes everything, controls the markets, they just pass it along in price hikes that the majority of us pay for. The rich don't pay more in taxes, we do! The only fair tax would be a flat tax same for everyone. You can't take away ambition, this all sounds rah rah, but in the end it's ludicrous. We have got to start thinking things through to the end before making decisions!

Our "debt comes from waging wars. And it also comes from the money we "borrow" at interest from the Federal Reserve. Those who resist the Federal Reserve are threatened and/or severely punished. Andrew Jackson resisted; an assassination attempt on his life failed and an impeachment attempt also failed. However, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy were not so fortunate. You might want to further your education by reading Robert Kiyosaki: Rich Dad, Poor Dad, and the Cash Flow Quadrant, as well as Web of Debt by Ellen Brown. These are good places to start. If you really want a detailed account of where our debt comes from, read The Creature from Jekyll Island by G. Edward Griffin, for his historical notes and references.
You might also want to read about our compulsory public school system which has systematically retooled education to produce consumers, rather than thinkers. I recommend John Taylor Gatto's Weapons of Mass Instruction.
Only one person in Washington, D.C. seems to be thinking things through before making decisions and that's President Obama.

I've read them all with the exception of Ellen Brown. As for Robert K. and G. Edward Griffin, I think they would be agreeing with me that our President is not thinking at all. Of course neither are the other 600 problems we have in Washington. I agree that the Fed Reserve is the major part of our problem. They don't have anyone's best interest at heart but their own. Our debt is so much more than the wars and it's unsustainable and growing faster than we can ever make up. Not only are we broke financially but we are broke morally and getting worse. As I said, we need a good reboot to return us to what's important here... people, and I think we'll be getting one real soon.

I am sick and tired of hearing their cheap, constipated, selfish, greedy, and Randian people saying that taxes are evil and big government is socialism. I guess when the corporations get government welfare, that is OK isn't socialism, is it?

Over 50% of marriages end in divorce, countless children growing up without proper parental guidance or love... how does this equate to religious beliefs? Can you say any child is better off without 2 parents who love one another and know what love is? Psychological tests don't bear that out. And the fact that in the church the stats aren't much better is really sad. As for the rich bashing, if I offered you money right now, for no reason, for doing nothing in return, would you take it?
We work with the homeless and have a pretty good handle and perspective on how our misguided social programs have miserably backfired and have created generations now of expectant people that are actually in every sense of the word, enslaved. It's not the rich doing this but our own government programs. Another question for you, do you or are you in the trenches doing something about your concerns for people? Real love is when you give it with nothing whatsoever in return. That's not religion, that's Jesus in the flesh. - 10 months ago

Religion is the bane of existence. I was walking on Nostrand Avenue today, the hottest day of the year and coming towards me is a woman dressed head to toe in a black Muslim berka thing. She only had slits for her eyes so she could see the hell where she was going. I hoped she would not pass out in the heat and then wondered how her stupid husband would feel if he had to dress like that. Religion is the dumbest and most dangerous toy the human race has every created.
Please cut the Jesus crap. Before I would believe in any humanoid supreme being, he would have to be a She minus the scrotum and adding the breasts. Also, millions of innocent people were murdered including millions of Jews because they refused to accept your religion as truth. Additionally, you have used the bible to justify racism, murder, holocaust, sexism, homophobic hatred. Besides, your religion (to me) is one of the most disgusting beliefs and is the opposite of everything I stand for as a human being. The idea that we are all sinners and a god as man dies for our sins is absolute rubbish. Don't get me wrong, I can't stand ALL religions including my own ex-religious belief: Judaism. You go on and on about how CHRISTIAN YOU ARE, but when it comes to helping those in need, not MY TAXES, and then cynically you brand people in need as all taking a hand out. If I called you a hypocrite, you would accuse me of name calling and quote me something your father told you. Well, get this:
You asked me what I am doing now. First I am a retired person who served NYC well as a public school teacher for 28 years. Now, I am working on a book, and I wrote a screenplay that I am trying to sell. On my fixed income, I give 25 dollars a month to an Obama program to help the middle class. I give 50 dollars a month to Greenpeace because I don't agree with the biblical notion that god gives the human race the planet so that they could subdue it. I give 20 dollars a month to the Humane Society. I gave 50 dollars to help make an expose the Koch Brothers documentary. I give two hundred dollars a year to Disabled American Vets. I give two hundred dollars a year to Ezrat Torah. I also believe in higher taxes so I can support all the social programs and all the services the government uses to protect me including the FAA which the turds want to destroy because they hate labor unions. You asked what I do or am doing. I did not intend to brag about what I give in money. I don't donate because I think that I am a good person. I do it because that is just the way that I am. I am not controlled by money. I do not count every penny, and believe mme I am not a rich person.
You asked me what I would do if you offered me money for nothing. I would take it...why not. I may hate money, but if someone offered me a million dollars, I would be a fool not to take it because one can do a lot of good with a lot of money. Believe me, other rich people would hate me if I had wealth because I would be doing all the wrong things with it like helping others as well as helping myself. You give me money. Do you know how many homeless people I could help with it?
As for marriage and divorce. It is not your place or the place of the clergy to tell people how to live their lives. If someone wants or does not want to get married in a religoius ceremony, all the power to them. Understand this: I believe in democracy. Religion is not a system that is harmonious with a democratic way of life. I grew up with two parents and believe me, it wasn't a picnic. In fact, if it were up to me, people would have to get a licence to have a child. I've seen enough neglected kids to last a life time, and of course, the Republican turds want to do all they can to cancel Pell grants, afterschool programs, aand anything else that would help a wayward neglected youngster.
The Republicturds only care about life when it is a fetus. Once you are born, and if you are middle or working class, they don't give a shit about you.

Religion is the bane, you are absolutely correct. Your religion especially- humanism, That which exalts man. You worship money by your own admission. I'm asking you to be totally honest with yourself for one minute. Why do you give money to causes you support? That is what our government's solution is for most social ills, throw money at it and it eases the conscience. In all your years of teaching, did money or funding ever change a young boy or girl? No. We spend more per capita on education in the US than anywhere else, and failing miserably. That is the moral bankruptcy in this land. No funding or teacher can totally turn around a child who is coming into the system with more needs than you can meet. The solution is giving of one's time. There is no substitute. I'm not bragging on what we do but of the fruit. People's lives are changed by us being in their lives, showing them we care. By griping and complaining about what doesn't work you accomplish nothing, why not go and do what does work. Go down to your local homeless shelter and contribute your time, you are retired you said, so you should have a full bank account of time. Spend it. It will change your life. That is what Jesus taught, love Him, hate Him or indifferent, it works!
We are what our President calls rich, barely. You hate the rich, why? Because you feel slighted in some way? We are rich because we took a risk on a business that could have failed but didn't. It was and is hard work. We then in turn take the money and give it back. We have $0 in retirement accounts, our home is being donated to a ministry to abused children, when I sell my business it too will all go to help others not our children. We make do with one vehicle, a 10 year old 170,000 mile Yukon used to haul and work. We raise much of our own food, etc. We keep the air conditioning set at 80 or higher and only when the temps are unbearable, this week was the first it's been on for some time. This is how the rich live. And we are very joyous about it. Why? Because the fruit of our labor is people set free, free to enjoy life as it was meant to be. Free from pain, free from shame and free from anything this world tries to throw at us.... including radical left wingers and radical right wingers. Oh yes, we are equally attacked by the religious ones too. Just as the Pharisees jabbed at Christ. A joyous heart is good medicine, a broken spirit drys up the bones... how's your health? Oh, we don't have healthcare insurance either... it's a waste of money. Also been married to the same woman for 30 years now, it's been no picnic either but the rewards are sooo sweet. Nothing worthwhile comes easy, if it comes easy it's not worth spit.
I declare you will reap your inheritance and what's coming to you. Blessings and curses are a choice, I have the faith to believe you will make the choice to be a Blessing. - 10 months ago

First of all, don't tell me what I should do with my spare time. Second don't tell me I worship money because, as a Jew, your comment has the taint of theological anti-Semitism behind it. Third: They may fund education, but not all school districts are treated equally. In this country, The federal government has little to say in how local school districts are funded. If you are lucky enough to live in a rich school district, your children wil have all the supplies they need, but if you live in a poorer school district, you may not only not get supplies, your child may find himself having classes in the water closet as well. If it was up to the the right wing, most kids would not be educated, their public schools decimated and replaced by privately run charters. For true educational equality and quality to occure, there should be a right to an education amendment added to the constitution of the United States, The problem of educating every child in this country will now be shared by the federal goverment and funded for the good of all.
Re: Your religious views and your invoking the name of Jesus every time you post. Your religion worships a man, a man with arms, legs, eyes, nose, penis, and anus. This man is tortured and placed on a cross to die. You believe that this man, this male with a penis and an anus died for your sins. If this man with a penis and an anus did not do this, you would be tainted for eternity with original SINNNNNNNNNNNN. Now this man with a penis and an anus may have not ever used the former, but I am certain that he did eat and use the latter. I am certain, he took a dump just as abundantly and just as smelly as the rest of us. I frankly do not worship men nor do I worship a being that excreats this smelly substance the way I do. By the way, I am sure if I increased my fiber and change my diet a little the substance would not smell as much, but disgusting nevertheless. Now if I had to worship a humanoid being, I posted before he would have to be a She. Personally, I would prefer to worship a being who doesn't take a shit like we have to.
In the end, you can expect me to once again brand you as the hypocrite that you are in that you WANT to keep your money. YOU don't want you tax money to go to help anything in this country but yourself. Your Christian love is really a mask for theological hatred and a desire to punish the living in order to save the unborn.

I thank you Mr. Bothwingextremist, and since a Jew did you a favor once, return it by supporting an end to tax breaks to the rich, and an end to tax cuts for the rich. Afterall, one of the greatest gifts the Jewish people have given to the world is the concept of TZEDUKAH. You can translate this as charity, but it means much more. I believe that the tax is a form of forced charity. If more of us understood the importance of taxes, we would then understand it for the patriotic duty that it is. I have paid ALL my taxes over the years. I have no problem with it. The alternative? Higher bridge tolls? No more extra help for the at risk kids after school? A dirtier river? The Repubicans and especially the tea baggers pride themselves on their righteous religious fervor, and yet care more for a fetus than they do for a post born human being.
And by the way, there are no last words on these pages. In your world there are last words, but in mine, the free exchange of ideas continues......

I really don't get involved in politics except for voting. With 1/3 of my money already in their hands each year and still not much to show for it, I believe I know how to disperse it better myself. I have an idea for you. You talked about all the under privileged school children are missing, supplies etc. Instead of giving your extra money to political activist groups, go and buy some supplies and find some of these kids and get them better prepared for the coming school year? We've done that in the past and it's always well received. There, you have a ministry calling.
As for more taxes, and I have nothing but observation to rely on, I believe the track record shows that the amount of money that actually gets to the root is very small. Admin costs when the government is involved in anything is cost prohibitive and wasteful. I guess I'm more of a Libertarian if I had to choose a party... but I'm not a party guy either.
By the way, the root of that great Hebrew word "tzedakah" has it's origin in a man's name Melkizedek and is about righteousness. Giving of one's time and money. Doing what is right and is commonly summed up with our word charity which is insufficient to describe it with. That man was considered the pattern and precursor of Jesus. Jesus was called the Messiah in the Order of Melkizedek. There, more Jesus for you but you brought him up this time. Jesus is charity, following Jesus means I give to Caesar, plus I give 10%, plus my additional offerings and not because I'm commanded to. The Lord loves a cheerful giver. When taxes rise, it means some poor person is actually getting less from us and many others just like us. Charity can not be forced, that's called robbery when money is exchanged without the spirit of giving... or as people are fond of these days... social justice. It just doesn't work.
My belief on taxes is if everyone paid their fair share, we would have more than enough. There are way too many loopholes in our current system. I'm all for paying a fair tax. What I pay now is very unfair. I get penalized for not being in debt! How backwards is that?
Fair= Flat tax for all 10% sounds awesome to me and I'll cover my own healthcare costs forever, deal? - 10 months ago

First of all, get your facts right. The word for Tzeduka does not come from someone's name as you say. Second: I've been giving money to my school for years and still do. This does not in anyway make me a good person, but giving is better than receiving, as you would say.
Your preaching about Jesus is a waste of your time. I told you that I find your religious beliefs disgusting. Again, if you wanted to make Jesus into a woman and call her Jessica Christ, I may consider coming along with you.
Here listen, JESSICA CHRIST WOULD YOU STOP YOUR GODDAMN PREACHING?
No matter how you slice it, paying one's tax is a patriotic duty and a kind of charity for the federal government so that it can keep viable programs going like helping the unemployed or feeding poor children or making sure some greedy corporate slime
doesn't pollute your local pond. Now I want to make it clear. I may not like your religious views but support your right to have them. When you start talking about Jesus, I simply skip over that stuff. So don't waste your time with it. If I was interested in any kind of religion or faith, the LAST one I would choose is yours. FEH! FEH! FEH! I do not bow down to any human being in any shape of form unless She is six feet tall or over with the most to die for legs You've ever seen. JESSICA CHRIST, WHATTA GAL!!

I don't think you are going back in time enough to find the root of our ills. Certainly the Bush years contributed but were just adding on. It's like football and what I was good at was letting someone make the first hit and then I'd pile on top. The peas were spilled out of the can a long long time ago without the idea that it would continue in perpetuity. Most congressional ideas were for a short term fix but always tended to become permanent. You can't put the peas back in the can once they are spilled without upsetting somebody. What these social programs do is hurting more than they help. One day, probably in the very near future, they will come to a screeching halt and pandemonium will break out. The longer we wait to correct the mistakes made in the past the more pain and spread out it will become. We are, for lack of better analogy, living in the matrix now. Nobody really wants to see reality. You prop up the democrats who are no better than republicans, worse in some ways better in others. As a Jewish man, you should have the gift of knowing how to make money work for you. That's not a racist or semetic remark, it's truth. You've been given a gift of knowing how to make money work for you and not the other way around. If you'd embrace that you'd end up helping many more people in so many other ways. I have hope for you. And again in your last remarks you said you give to your school... give what counts most, your time is what I would urge you to give. Your contention that as a Jewish man, I am good with money IS an anti-Semitic remark. It is like saying that a black person has a natural sense of rythm or Irish people like to fight and drink and Polish people are stupid. I guess since Trump, The Kennedys, the Fords, and the Gates are good with money they must really be Jewish. You mask your hypocritical hatred with your theological anti-Semitic views. You can't hide the fact that you want to keep all your earnings for yourself and to hell with everyone else.
By the way, I want to add here that there was a time in Christian history when they denied Jews the right to own land and the right to do any other profession but money lending. They also forced Jews to live in a ghetto and forced them to wear identifying clothes. The nazis later borrowed many of these Christian ideas. You can take your Christian love and shove it where the sun don't shine, and since you buy into "The Jews are good with money" legend, I won't be responding to you anymore. So have a good life, write what you want, and I will ignore it. Man, if I was as good with money as you think I am as a Jew, I would have been a billionaire 90 times over by now, but becoming rich was never one of my goals. In your world, only Christians are allowed to be rich, but a Jew? He has an unfair advantage because being good at making money is part of his blood. And Christians are taught that sex is original sin, so cut this bullshit too. You like to stand on a soap box and sermonize about how each of us should use our sex organs. This is one of the reasons I am glad people iike you don't have power over other people's lives. You are homophobic and anti-woman because in your twisted narrow world, women have to submit to men. BULLSHIT.
Also, your ignorance of Jews and Jewish words and traditions is apparent, so don't make yourself look more ignorant then you already are. Bob Dylan is a great musician, but he never was an expert on Jewish traditions and Jewish law. The word Tzeduka comes from the words Tzedek and Chessid all having to do with righteous mercy.
Now, I respect pagans more than I do you. You believe that a god became man so that he could sacrifice himself for the sins of all mankind. Jews don't believe that someone else atones for your sins. You do that yourself before god. Further, when you do communion you believe you are drinking the blood and eating the flesh of Jesus which amounts to cannibalism. Fundamentalist Christians are the greatest most hypocritical pagans of all. I also posted that I would never bow down to anything that looks like me (humanoid). I would rather worship a pile of shit then worship what you do.
Get this through your head: you or any religion (Judaism as well) does not have the monopoly on the truth. You have no right predicting what will happen after someone dies. You have no right telling people that your religion is the only truth. If the modern world has demonstrated anything at all, it has demonstrated that religion does not make the world better but worse.
Now go home and force your wife to submit to you with you on top and she on the bottom. Make sure that no oral sex is involved. And while you are doing it, make sure you only have SACRED thoughts. Yeah, while you thrust, just think about your boy Jesus. And remember too that women are not allowed to have sexual thoughts or desiresTHE ENTIRE PURPOSE OF SEX IS TO BRING MORE ASSHOLES LIKE YOU IN THE WORLD.

And I wouldn't think I'd have to remind anyone that he moved to America mostly to escape high taxes in Great Britain.
As for the Jewish people and money, they have a Blessing upon them to know what to do with money if they are tied to their source of light. That is just a matter of fact and certainly nothing wrong with it or acknowledging the fact. It's a gift and one I would cherish.
Blessings and curses are and always have been a choice in this life. What you point out is fact that is stated to help us not hurt us. God doesn't hurt us we do it to our selves. I sure hope you never kissed your mother with those lips. Why is it when you have a truth pointed out that they can't dispute you resort to this sort of reply? I don't believe you were ever a teacher but if you were, I'd feel real sad for those kids and their futures.
You just don't get it do you? It's not how many Repubs or Demos are in Congress that matters. It's the fact that the people have now figured out how to get all they want by simply voting for the slickest suit they can find who will give it to them. I am watching Van Jones on Lawrence O'Donnell right now. He is certainly presidential material. Folks have to listen to Jones. He is telling it like it is. This so-called tea party will not be satisfied until our entire country is pulled down around our ears. The debt ceiling talks are at a stand still. These traitors, and I call them that because they are more loyal to private business than they are to the people, are demanding billions in cuts to the middle and working classes and demanding nothing from the Koch Brothers in exchange for raising the debt ceiling. Jones is calling their actions recklessly irresponsible. Remember, I don't believe in a tea party..(plesase see earlier post)...If I have tons of money and a citizens united decision backing me up, I can create almost anything because there will always be individuals out there in the great wasteland ready to be used and exploited. I just watched the end of the segment, and heard Jones compare the tea party and the Republican party with our enemies by saying that they want to take down our infrastructure too since not raising the debt ceiling would accomplish just that. Jones as well as his co-guest exhorted the viewers to make their voices heard. The alternative: A Koch Brothers Corporate ruled theocratic plutocratic Oligarchy.

Thank YOU TOO! I take the time to post stuff because I know how important this is for all of us. It is truly frightening. For as long as I understood it, I never took my freedom here for granted. I was born in 1950. We had threats and paranoia and McCarthy, plus two non-constitutional wars: Korea and Viet Nam. People said that the world changed after 911. I wish, while I huddled under my desk during a bomb drill and heard the air raid siren get tested each month, I could have reached through time and grab the people of today by the throats and yank them back in time to get a look. It has always been bad and crazy. Now we are in the midst of a "tea party extremist" period that in my opinion rivals the McCarthy era. I personally don't believe the Democratic party has enough big mouth proud progressive liberals like Anthony Weiner was. They could very well sell us to the Koch brothers. See what happened in New Jersey? Adolph Christie was able to pass his union busting deal with the help of some turn coat NJ Democrats. I am pretty cynical and pessimistic about the outcome. I feel like I am living out the beginnings of a very bleak dystopian science fiction movie.
There are many reasons for this, and I won't bore you with all of them, but the short story. The human race is mostly frightened of death. It praises heroes who seem to not fear it (please read Becker's The Denial of Death). This fear is behind the lust for power and the persuit of pleasure. Its fear also gives religion power over the masses. And if your religion teaches you that only you can defy death and all others are damned than here you have some of the seeds of war.
I personally believe that the human race is best at making each of its members as miserable as possible. This is possible because most of the money and power is in the hands of rich people. (We have to be thankful that some of these wealthy folks are on our side; otherwise, we really would be screwed). In fact, the entire purpose and being on this planet is to work, to make money, to have as many guilt free orgasms as possible, to collect as many toys and to have as much property as we can. And the more wealthier you are, the better chance you are going to have seeing these goals come to fruition. Having all this stuff will give you a very important advantage ( that is if you are not messed up in the head, however) you are always amused. That's right. Your body could be aging away down the road to the grave, but you won't be busy thinking about it because look at all this wonderful stuff you have. And because you have all this wonderful stuff, look at all the things you can do and places you can go and people you can screw, and yes, even give a little charity here and there just so you can prove to yourself at least that you are not a shallow person. And when the time comes for you body to truly betray you, you can use your wealth and position to ease the burdens of those times.
But do the working and middle class have this option? Can they be amused just like the rich do as they travel on the road to darkness? Yes, but at a price. Making about 60 thousand dollars a year, and you have no kids or other vast debts? Maybe a nice cruise at 6000 dollars will help you. Borrow here. Adjust this. Adjust that, and you get to take that cruise. Most of the time you will be working, however, and having more time to look at yourself in the mirror and seeing age take sway subtly at first but quicker and more relentless in later years. Meanwhile, those in power give you nothing but stress. Will they deny you the right to choose? Will they cut taxes and then raise tolls because they no longer have the tax revenue to pay for it? Will they wage endless wars? Will they create revisionist histories? Will they promise you change and yet continue to war and continue to deny climate change? Will they allow you to send your child to a well equipped and supported public school? Will your children even be able to afford college?
Is it any wonder that the masses age and rot faster than the rich do? I mean why should I care? I am 60, and I will get my full Medicare and my full Social Security. And thanks to my union, I also have a pension helping me. I also have no children. But guess what? I DO care, and I want every person in this country to have all the benefits and more than I have now. I can't see leaving behind a planet with my unfinished garbage. But that is me. You always leave your campsite exactly the way you found it.I believe each of us should look at our quality of life and also look at the choices we have regarding the direction of our country. Let me make a suggestion: if anyone reading this has any little babies, toddlers, etc. Look for a few moments into their innocent little faces. One day, those faces will be aged and sixty and above. Personally I want these people to be given every single bit of support they can get. I want them to have complete single payer health care and everything else. If it is up to the tea party and the Koch brothers, those cute little innocent faces you are looking at now won't be looking that happy in the bleak Republican Taliban Koch brothers future. WE NEED TO GET OUT IN THE STREETS, ON THE PHONE, AND EVERYWHERE WITH OUR BIG LIBERAL PROGRESSIVE MOUTHS. BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE BECAUSE THEY ARE HERE ALREADY AND YOU'RE NEXT!!
THEY'RE HERE ALREADY: Pictured above the late Kevin MaCarthy warning the world about the Republican Tea Party Pod People in 1956 Invasion of the Body Snatchers directed by Don Siegel.

ingsoc1984:
Great commentary, thank you so much.
One of the spiritual principles of the Iroquois was that whatever legislation they enacted in the Long House took into consideration the well-being of the seventh generation to come. This was one of the principles left out of our U.S. Constitution. The idea of freedom and equality was also borrowed from the Iroquois. A lot of people don't know that Benjamin Franklin helped organize meetings between the chiefs of the Iroquois and the Founding Fathers in the 1750s. Mr. Franklin also wrote a number of essays, including one entitled "The Savages of North America," a satire on the American Indians.
In the Long House, where they had their governmental council meetings, each member spoke at length sharing his ideas and what was called his "piece of the vision." While that person spoke, and the next one and the one after that, and so on, there was complete silence on the part of everyone else; he was given undivided attention. After he sat down there was a long silence so that the spirit behind the words could also be heard. The silence was so lengthy, also, so that if the speaker remembered something he wanted to add to what he had just said, he would have plenty of time to stand up and do so. That way everyone could hear what was in everyone's heart on the deepest level. The Long House was imbued with an atmosphere of silence, sharing, and respect.
Benjamin Franklin compared this scenario to the one found in the white man's governmental chambers, where speakers had to shout to be heard and were constantly interrupted by other speakers who were more than eager to argue and shout them down; in other words, a scene of total chaos and madness.
You and I, and others here, are sharing all the information we've discovered so that others may be informed and perhaps choose more wisely. We're not telling anyone what to think or believe, but I join you in asking everyone to please consider the little ones in our world today, and further, "the seventh generation to come."

I support Van Jones and will be glad to stand beside him if he will have me. I'm a 62 year old white male who has had just about enough of the attacks on the Democrats and other central to left leaning parties in this country. We are none of the things we are being called and have been called since Newt ran in 1978. The way I feel it is long past time to give back to the conservative republicans and teabaggers what they deserve. Stomp on their message every chance you get. Call into their radios stations to see if they will let you on and when they step on your answer, step right on back. Do not allow them, to proceed to make their case if you cannot make yours. The Republican Party is the Tea Party. The Senate, and Congress hasn't given us, the permit to create another party. These are republicans, calling themselves something different. These are the same people, who voted for GB, same people who hollered the loudest for the two wars, no one has paid for that. The Church, Charter Schools that took money from our taxes to fund, no child left behind, which means, spending tax money you don't have, let some people receive tax cuts not paid for, leave everybody eles holding the bag for that. Tea Party, should be called the Pea Party, becuase they operate with small minds and thinking*:)!

Hold on! That begs the question - why DOES the Obama administration listen or care about what the T-buggerers say or think?
Seems to me they usually pick foxes for the henhouse, Jones being an exception - but then they lose their nerve at the prospect of actually having someone do their job for fear of being called radical and losing corporate contributions and support.
The sad truth is that he was not "pushed out" by the likes of Beck or Hannity, he was let go by the administration. I don't blame right-wing slathering sycophants - I know what to expect from that pack of jackasses, I indict a system that has become a 2 headed snake for the corporate coup. And I blame the successful "branding" of an administration that can hardly be called progressive and those that buy into it.
Time has come to FIGHT for issues not a political party...

In Kansas, you can't even get an abortion, and the GopTaliban in the house are threatening not to raise the debt ceiling for money already owed unless they can gut Social Security, Medicare, and the middle and working classes with them. By the way, this is not "gang up on bothwingextremist day" , but I really DO want you to take the time if you have it to compose a post illustrating all the ways you think this man is a threat. Pretend that I am one of those snobby dumb ass New York phoney liberals who would at least pretend they are listening to you. Does he threaten to take away collective bargaining as Christie of New Jersey and Walker of Wisconsin did? Does he want women who need abortions to sit through unnecessary lectures on why they should not excercise their rights and then have to get unnecessary medical tests as well just as Perry of Texas demands?
I am not trying to be sarcastic here. I sense that you are a thinking person, and like me, is wary of trusting any politician, pundit, or Fox Quasi-Newsperson. I mean tell me that Van Jones is threatening to not raise the debt celing unless he get billions of dollars in cuts to the people who need the services most.
By the way, better anarchy then oligarchy, but I would rather stick to my democratic republic. I hope one day this republic will no longer be tainted by plutocracy, but at least it is not conrolled by the Koch brothers...YET, just by other rich people. How long did the Roman republic last before it became a dictatorship? Do you think that this country is immune to that kind of deadly change? Think again.

Networks are the worst, CNN is close behind... BBC is the closest to fair and balanced I've found. You seem stuck on the debt ceiling... don't you realize we are already busted? There is a day of reckoning due and all we're doing is putting it off to where it will be much more painful. It's time to let the system fail and start over. Everyone is trying to get what they can before that day. That is truth. Take the red pill Neo. You state the words democratic republic together. Do you know they are two totally different things? We were created as a Republic and have gradually changed into a democracy. Democracy only stands until the general people figure out they can vote for whatever gets them more. A republic is about giving and helping your neighbor and the freedom to do anything that is not harmful to others. Van Jones is about taking from people to spread it the way he would like. "Mr. Jones has been revealed, his past has come out and he's unapologetic for his thinking. His ideas are bad for our nation and he's no different than Al Gore prospering on these crazy ideas."In other words, you believe the flat-out LIES about the man that were spread by FOX News. I repeat- LIES. FALSEHOODS. UNTRUTHS.
You say:
"Fox propaganda? Is that different in some way than CNBC propaganda? or CNN propaganda?"Oh yes- FOX was created as a propaganda wing of the Republican party. Didn't you see the documents dating back to the Nixon administration, when it was first planed as the American Pravda?
The other News organizations are NOT propaganda- they simply want ratings by titillating the masses with stories about penises.
You say:
"No, the people at Fox reflect many of my views though."That is why you are so willing to believe their lies, when they conform to the views you already have. Propaganda is a highly effective tool.
You say:
"I believe in America, I believe in the Constitution and what the Declaration of Indepedence stated and that is what our country stands on. A house divided will not stand. Do you know who said that? Do you actually think Lincoln would have supported FOX news?

You say a great many things here that reflect a tea bagger mentality. Example: let the debt ceiling fail...ok let's examine this...First of all, we have never had any problem raising the debt ceiling. It was always done by both the right and the left. The debt ceiling deals with money already borrowed, NOT new debts. When you say let it fail, do you mean that you want our country to go into default? Do you mean you don't want our soldiers to be paid? Do you mean that people who depend on the government for their Social Security checks should not get them? Obviously, you can give a shit right? If the idiot voters did not did not bring in the Repulican Taliban for the midterms, we would not even be having this discussion. The turds simply want to do anything they can to make sure this president fails. If raising the debt ceiling would make Obama fail, they would all be agreeing to raise it. As for the constitution, this is an evolving document, not a static one as you seem to suggest. Thanks to evolving nature of this document, we have one of the most unique countries in the world. Slavery was abolished. Women were given the right to vote. Abortion was legalized. This country was not founded to be a rich person's haven. It is a country that is embued with the best of free enterprise along with the best of socialism (the social contract). The Republican Taliban could care less about the social contract nor do they care about the unrich.
In my country, the poor, the helpless, the sick, the elderly, the very young, our soldiers are taken care of. In my country, I pay my taxes so that you can afford to send you kids to school. In my country, I pay taxes to take care of you or your sick parents if necessary. But I guess in your country, only the rich should get all the benefits and the poor nothing because the latter got there through their own fault, so f--- them as Ayn Rand would say. No my friend, my country is not the country of the Koch Brothers, the Michelle Bachmanns, the John Boehners. My country is the country where you have opportunities, but if somehow you don't make it, at least in this country we don't let you hang upsidedown in a toilet bowel. That is where that social safety net comes in. You may not care about this, but I do.
I am a retired person on a pension. Thank the Goddess for my union and for Social Security and Medicare. A near middle classer like me gets a little taste of what it is like to be a rich person. And when they decide to raise my federal taxes (which I still pay), they can raise yours by 2 dollars and mine by 20. I want this so that I can do everything I can to help all those who need it. This does not mean that I am a nice person. I just think that money should be used for the good of all AND for the good of me. And I worked 30 years in the New York City school system, and earned every penny of what I get now in retirement.
PS A fetus is not a baby. Collective bargaining is part of the spirit of our constitution. Also, and I know you won't like this: I believe every member of the Republican Party (or any party) who receives gifts from the Koch brothers should be charged with treason and then shot. Why do I say they should be charged with treason? Because they ally themselves with corporations instead of with the American people. This new Republican Taliban party is a bigger threat to our country than the terrorists are, and if you need me to cite examples of why I think this way, just ask and you shall receive.

I am not here to convert you, This is an open forum for serious people who want to state their opinions about serious issues. We, all of us, can then respond if we feel moved to. If you don't like my views or mine yours...too f---ing bad.
My use of the term plutocratic democratic republic for the kind of government we have. Let me clarify. Our country is a plutocracy because rich people rule us: the bad rich (Republican Taliban) and the good rich (the Democrats), Now all we need is the wicked rich of the west to really F us the F up. We have a democracy to the extent that we can vote either for the evil rich party or the good rich party. It is a republic because only a few select people or groups are in power.
Convert YOU??? HAIL NO!!!!!!
PS It is quite ignorant of me to refer to you as a right winger when your screen name is bothwingextremist....sorry about that...Even the great are allowed to be shitheads sometimes...too bad that I am not even great.

1. I compared him to a villain, not calling him one. 2. Who in the world is Buffy? 3. I believe no news report unless I witnessed it myself. You are sadly deceived by the bias in whatever form you are hearing it. You see, I don't watch Fox news, I don't watch much news at all. You jump to conclusions and more dangerously because of the news reports you hear. And you are slightly wrong about who said "A house divided.." Lincoln was quoting one greater than himself, Jesus Christ. That is my only point.

You are great, you have so much gold inside you and the only problem I see is that you don't see it. My screen name is simply a joke... an eagle needs both wings to fly and the guidance is the key. At this moment in history, the media has done such an incredible job of dividing our nation, our thinking and our motives and it's not the proper guidance system. We will crash and burn if we don't turn them all off. To quote and old movie, "I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take this anymore!" My only point from the very beginning was we don't need another hero and politcal action group. The question and vilification of the rich has got to stop. It's not their fault! There is a shadow government and the plan is to take it all from us. The poorest of the poor in our country would be considered very well off in 180 other countries in this world. We have way too much and want for way too much. The only right we really own is to help and love one another, I don't believe our government is the way to do that, period. How many failures does it take for us to see that?

"I believe no news report unless I witnessed it myself."So, in what way have you "witnessed" Van Jones being a Communist?
You say:
"You are sadly deceived by the bias in whatever form you are hearing it."Except, I expressed no bias whatsoever- look through these posts again. All of the bias is 100% on YOU, from what YOU said.
No jumping to conclusions on my side- it was just one HUGE leap on yours.
From the start, you had HUGE bias:
"This guy is like one of those villains in the hollywood movies that never dies! Come on already, go away! I hope you don't have any evil twins lurking around either!"
you referred to him as a villain, and as evil.
Yes, you backpedaled on that to say you simply *compared* him to a villain.
You claimed he was a Communist, when he is not.
You said he was " revealed" and his "past has come out", yet the only negatives about his past were LIES.From your FIRST post you have been "dividing the house", then you complain about divisiveness.
You complain about media bias, yet your whole view of Van Jones is based on media bias.
Come on man, stop and think already.
You don't know ANYTHING about this guy but LIES and DISTORTIONS.
And you believe those lies because you want to believe those lies.

All of your previous comments are still here, right on this page, for anyone to simply scroll up and read. You were not, in ay sense at all, simply saying that we don't need another hero or political action group.
You were attacking Van Jones on a personal level, and repeating the lies you heard from the right-wing media.
Backpedaling and denials just don't work- you could man up and admit you were wrong about Van Jones, and state that he is simply an individual that you disagree with, but to deny your inflammatory rhetoric when it is still right here on this page is astounding.

First of all, you do not understand the character Howard Beale in the movie Network. I understand that character so much that I named my blog "Mad As Hell". Second I happen to love your screen name. You say that you use it as a joke. I would also say that the name is also humorously ironic. I happen to like irony by the way. Anyway, you remind me of the character Joker, played by Matthew Modine in the Kubrick picture "Full Metal Jacket." This character wore a helmet that said something like "born to kill" and also a peace sign button on his uniform. When questioned by a hard assed officer, Joker responded in respectful military fashion: "I wanted to suggest the duality of man, sir." So you see, your use of this name suggests to me a brain at work. I may not always agree with this brain, but when I do disagree, I must remember to do it strongly but with respect.

Sadly, we may need a real progressive liberal like Van Jones or Bernie Sanders to run for president because this one is reported to have caved in to the Republican Taliban on Social Security and Medicare because he was afraid that the morons would not raise the debt ceiling. In other words, these right wing slime have won the game of chicken, and President Obama has become a capitulator in chief. The Republican turds are working very hard to make Obama a one term president. Yesterday, the president helped this cursed slime balls put a nail into his political coffin. Sad and tragic for all of us who thought we were voting for a progressive.

But since we know that the Republicans are working very hard to make Obama a one term president, that is exactly why it should not be a nail in his political coffin.
We need to make sure that WE do not capitulate to the Republicans.
We need to make sure that Obama gets a second term, and that Democrats fill the House and Senate, and ensure that liberal democrats win the primaries.

Number one especially, we are most definitely broke. So far beyond broke it's not funny. All debt owed in America is estimated around 65 trillion and all assets added up are about 30 trilion. That's from an independent financial man who was high up in the government treasury dept. Do the math. If I owed $300,000 and had the ability to pay $150,000 of it total, that would be broke am I right? Sorry for my venting. The imflamation is only in the hearing not in my heart that's for sure.

One thing I don't understand though is how many people resort to name calling on sites like these. Republican Taliban, morons and the like do nothing good for anyone and does make it hard to 1. communicate effectively and 2. take the person seriously. In this day and age of all things being recorded and posted, it's impossible to escape what you say in public. Have you heard the speeches without commentary? One in particular that just made my head spin was at Guilford College, 1/19/2011. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck... good chance it's a duck. I know he stated he was a communist according to the biography I read online. It's possible that was manipulated but I know media programs and I don't see any evidence of editing some of the speeches he gave and there is no confusing what he stands for, social justice is a great idea just as communism is a great idea. The problem is: neither will work without bringing anarchy.

I understand that Howard Beale is a fictional character, a piece of literary and cinema art. Beale is supposed to symbolize serious news people like E.R. Murrow who simply go nuts reporting on our insane asylum. I am tired of how this character and his slogan has been co-opted by right wing religious wackos like Carl Paladino. I did not like that Keith Olbermann compared Beale to Lonesome Rhodes, another fictional character, who appeared in the movie "Face In The Crowd" and starred Andy Griffith in one of his best roles. The first and only example I will cite right now is that Beale was never a demigogue. Rhodes on the other hand was.
Jesus happens to be a fictional character as well, at least the version you believe in. If he was able to come back like you believe, he would think that you all are mushugenahs.
As for my use of name calling. I spent the first two years of Obama's presidency being innundated with hateful tea bagger crap. They compared Obama to Hitler. Called him a socialist (which isn't a bad thing). One Republicturd even called the president a liar. Sharron Angle told her followers to go out and buy guns if she loses against Harry Reid. Sarah Palin drew targets on Democrats faces. My name calling them is my way of feeding back to them what they have been feeding to me. I don't believe in a tea party movement. I have stated before it is a fake movement started by the Koch brothers to undermine our democratic plutocratic republic. They would rather see a plutocratic oligarchy instead. You are goddamed right I am going to call these dick heads names. The extremists have crawled out of their fecal stained toiilets to dump their rot on the rest of us. Not on my watch, pal. Now if Republicans have the right to do and say what they want no matter how nasty or hateful it is, I have a right to do the same thing. I don't expect to convert these people. And I don't expect them to take me seriously either unless I had the riches to undermine them in return. However, there are some people on this page who agree with me and do take me seriously. If they don't that is their right as well.
Now I reserve the right to denigrate the Republican Party and any public official or celebrity I choose. However, I should try to reframe from denigrating you or anyone else who disagrees with me. People as myself who post to these pages are not generally public officials. Therefore, I can disagree with them but not to the point of calling them names.

If Obama capitulates to these extremists, he sadly will be a one term president. I understand that a president must govern from the middle, something Republicans don't know how to do, but as a Democratic president, he should not be talking about undermining democratic party principles. He should not be talking about cutting spending and taxes. If he is the Democratic party standard bearer in spite of his alleged support for cutting Social Security and Medicare, I will still vote for him as long as Bernie Sanders or Van Jones aren't running. I voted for a progressive president not one who would compromise our country and turn it over to the koch brothers.
I actually have a wait and see atitude. You and I know that compromise with these extremists will not generate support for this president in his reelection bid., I am actually cautiously optimistic that the voters will come to their senses in 2012 and vote the Republican slime out, WAY OUT!!

And another thing: Why do you pray to a male humanoid deity? Who's to say that this being is not female? A Goddess instead of a god, a Queen instead of a king, a Mother instead of a father. How about a name? Let's see...hmmmm..Jessica Christ. I kind of like the sound of that. If you would allow this, let me test this out. Jessica is my mentor...pretty cool. Between you and me, I would rather pray to the tits and the vagina than to the cock and balls, something the patriarchial religionist have been shoving down our throats and up our fundaments for more than 5000 years. It is time for total Matriarchy!!! Any how, I don't care what the :bable" says about this matter. It is biased toward men because it was written by men. The last thing a fanatic religious fundamentalist should see is illustrated above....the Rhedosaurus from "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms."

I admit that calling the Goddess Jessica may be a problem because when you yell out in anger or frustration "JESSICA CHRIST ALL MIGHTY" it may be too much, so if you wish, How about this name: Justine"? Let's experiment: "JUSTINE CHRIST ALL MIGHTY"...Maybe..maybe..if you want, I could work on this some more. I do have a life but anything for a religious friend in search of Matricarchy.
Above: A great Goddess candidate: Miss Chris.... "Chris Christ All Mighty!!!" maybe..maybe .
My praises go to Bernie Sanders who finally said it as it was today: "They want an oligarchy..." I've been saying this for months.
