Chris Hedges: Global revolution must begin in America

unimatrix0
Pulitzer-winning author and former New York Times reporter Chris Hedges has a revolutionary worldview. In the video below, his recent “Endgame Strategy” piece for AdBusters is read aloud by George Atherton.

His conclusions are chilling, but not entirely hopeless.

“We will have to take care of ourselves,” he wrote. “We will have to rapidly create small, monastic communities where we can sustain and feed ourselves. It will be up to us to keep alive the intellectual, moral and cultural values the corporate state has attempted to snuff out. It is either that or become drones and serfs in a global corporate dystopia. It is not much of a choice. But at least we still have one.”

    • I do so wish that more people would realize what is really going on. We cannot rely on either corporate party, but most of us choose one side or the other, as we are led to do by those who profit from our ignorance. It is frustrating and depressing.

    • This reminds me of a great quote:

"There is something fundamentally wrong in treating the earth as if it were a business in liquidation."

    • Nothing personal Unimatrix, but I'm wondering how a post with only 22 views and no comments has reached # 17 front page status and a post I made a couple of days ago, that was no less important, with almost as many views and 8 comments couldn't get past # 46,in 2 days, and I had to ask Kennymowtown to give me help to get that far. Could it be that I don't always play nice and kiss the Current staffs ass? I think so. Now all you Current puppets go ahead and bring on the comments about me whining and all that crap, I could give a shit. I'm just wondering who gets to decide what gets moved up and what don't, although I've got a pretty good idea.

As for the "Revolution" now that the US is swimming in reserve oil gushers I think the revolution has suffered a killer blow... SEEING AS HOW EVERYBODY NOW HAS GASOLINE FOR SUMMER VACATION.

hahaha Let's see. Vacation? or Revolution? Wow, hard to decide that one! We get one little vacation a YEAR and Europeans get SIX WEEKS A YEAR, so obviously we have to do the vacation and try to PENCIL IN ANY REVOLTIONS FOR LATER.

I'm sorry, but I'm not tech savvy enough to do what you did. My tech level is basic at best. If your really interested, the post is entitled,"It's Wages, Stupid!" and I think you can see it on my Current profile page. Sorry:(

      I have an hypothesis.
The more points one scores on Current the more clout one's posts have.
And the more points one has in voting a story up has more clout than someone with lower points.
There is also the friends factor.
      Am I wrong anyone?

Loners, independent thinkers and the friendless non-savvy (with no friends to show them the ropes), are all discouraged here. But if you keep making comments sooner or later you'll attract the hornets. They'll sting you w/out mercy til you fall on the Internet ground writing in agony begging to die a Gladiator's death.

      And sent packing to Arkansas.

On th other hand if you relish a good scrap you've found a NEW HOME.
