The solution is simple. We need to rebuild our local communities, and what I mean by that is to rebuild the trust we used to have with our neighbors. We need to create ways to rely on each other and begin to produce food locally that can be shared. So many people are going to die if they don't begin to look at their neighbors as family members and a lifeline to survival.
I feel great sorrow for those who live in giant cities, because for them, a financial collapse is going to be the most devastating and chaotic.

Why waste your energy falling for another Righter-like scare?
If we put our energies into working FOR what we believe in, this could not be used against us. The Repubs who are greedy for power use fear and anger to get their masses' emotional votes. Libs have more sense that that - PLEASE! - 11 months ago

This article is filled with noting but sensationalism. Even if the dollar did collapse, the author clearly shows his lack of knowledge on how important the dollar really is. All members of the Gulf Cooperative Council have their currency pegged to the US dollar and even China of all countries has it's currency pegged to the US dollar. Also, Israel being number one is ridiculous since their currency isn't pegged to the US dollar. Although Israel does get a lot of money from the US, it doesn't mean that the country would collapse since it has been able to develop a rather modern economy. The collapse of the US dollar would mean austerity measures for military spending since that is where most of the US aid goes to. Also, for those who don't know what a peg is, a peg means that a country's currency value is attached to the value of another currency. So yeah, this article overall is very very weak.

Buy a boat, ( used sailboats are dirt cheap now ), move aboard, sail away. Wind power is free, 12 volt systems are cheap and easy, find day jobs for cash or trade, you'll make lots of new friends.
It might be about to become hell in the US but the world is a big place.
Best advise I can think of. - 11 months ago

Imagining a World Without Money
A 10 minute clip from the movie Zeitgeist: Addendum.
Visionary and self-taught architect, Jacques Fresco explains his ideal world that incorporates a resource-based system. No money, or other form of bartering exchange. A world without money is more than just imagination; it is very possible. Jacque Fresco believes if we decide to do this today, all things about this world can be achieved within only 10 years!
Look at our world and all the unnecessary suffering at the hands of the monetary system. Money is a flawed system that is holding humanity back.

It won't affect native tribes in the Amazon whose lives are untouched by money, for example. It won't affect anyone who has devised a way of living without money - it is possible even if difficult and involving daily hard work.

Not really, if the rest of the world loses confidence in us because, say the republicans tell the world we are not going to pay our debt anymore...

Money is all digital now, there is nothing physical behind it- because of that, I don't get how it can "collapse".
All they have to do is pretend it did not collapse, and then poof, it didn't.
Just shift all the decimal points over in one fell swoop.
Ask Anonymus nicely and they can fix it.

Really?
I had no idea the QE2 had such an impact on our economy.http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_mXz2rszFv0g/TNQ3oKOUbFI/AAAAAAAAAmg/UHTBgOK5f0A/s1600/...
So are the printing presses actually on the ship?
I'm so confused. So instead of asking Anonymous to fix it, we need Captain Stubing.

As soon as I get resettled out of LALA land crazy ass Calle-forni-A, I will be buying another gun and start the garden and prepping. I almost feel embarrassed to say that, but considering I'm also moving to hurricane country, not so much.
Solar and wind power units, starting out small and working on getting bigger. There's a wind Co. company called Sauer, they look interesting, more efficient, just a thought. Anyone have any thoughts?
