Wisconsin's Judge Prosser allegedly grabbed fellow justice by the neck

Image

Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice David Prosser allegedly grabbed fellow Justice Ann Walsh Bradley around the neck in an argument in her chambers last week, according to at least three knowledgeable sources.

Details of the incident, investigated jointly by Wisconsin Public Radio and the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism, remain sketchy. The sources spoke on the condition that they not be named, citing a need to preserve professional relationships.

They say an argument that occurred before the court’s release of a decision upholding a bill to curtail the collective bargaining rights of public employees culminated in a physical altercation in the presence of other justices. Bradley purportedly asked Prosser to leave her office, whereupon Prosser grabbed Bradley by the neck with both hands.

    • Prosser was a former Republican Legislator... Republicans sometimes just can't seem to hide their hate for women and minorities... a very violent bunch... Even when their 68 years old... Just Kidding ;)

    • Then there's the truth:

But another source told the Journal Sentinel that Bradley attacked Prosser.

"She charged him with fists raised," the source said.

Prosser "put his hands in a defensive posture," the source said. "He blocked her."

In doing so, the source said, he made contact with Bradley's neck.

    • Need to preserve professional relationships?

I'm sorry, but when one of your coworkers tries to strangle you, the need to preserve any kind of relationship is over.

He should be arrested and charged with aggravated assault- perhaps even attempted murder.

    • Now the ReichWing Noise machine is saying that Prosser was defending himself after he'd become abusive and was asked to leave.

    • This did make the front page today in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel this morning, which surprised me given the growing right wing slant this newspaper is taking. This of course is not the first instance of the boorish, misogynistic behavior of the Walker/Kochsucker whore, Prosser. He called her a bitch in another heated altercation the two had before the election. This Prosser is a monster. But the right wing is already claiming it didn't happen that way which is no surprise either. They will try to bury and/or debunk this story with every possible resource they can muster. Here's more on this about Prosser from AlterNet. The right wing machine has taken over this state and any ramification that he should face, will stand a stiff challenge especially getting any type of censure from his Court colleagues.

    • If true, this shows a lack of restraint, questionable personal ethics and morals, and exceptionally poor judgement. A judge with any of those negative qualities is a fish out of water and should not be there.

If true, he should be gone.

    • All this feigned outrage over this is amusing. What is really going on is the reaction to Prosser winning the election in April. But hey, whatever it takes to assuage the disappointment I guess. If only he had ruled differently from the bench he would not be a "nutcase" or a "screwball".

Feigned outrage? A judge grabbing another justice by the neck shows an inability to moderate a civil discussion and demonstrates highly inappropriate impulsive behavior. Characteristics which should automatically disqualify someone from being a judge. If this is true, then he should be removed.

No, this is not feigned outrage. An attack on a justice is an offense in itself, like, attacking a federal or police officer is a more serious charge than assault. If you or I were to attack a judge like that - you get my point? That could be a serious felony! And to attack a judge in the performance of his or her duties could be looked at as contempt of court or obstruction of justice, you think? And these things are not optional to prosecute like misdemeanors can be. Did he have to be stopped? Attempted murder? Don't let this incident fade from public discussion. This has to be fully investigated and resolved.

It is amazing how every post you make drips with hypocrisy.

You wanted weiner to resign for twittering his weiner, but you completely defend a man who tried to murder a woman.

Yes, you are on the right wing; sex is bad, violence is good.

Oh contraire my friend. Never any hypocrisy in my posts. I doubt seriously that he tried to murder anyone. Mere grabbing around the neck does not automatically constitute attempted murder. Be real. Oh, if you would pay attention to my posts Mr. left winger you would notice that I said that Weiner should resign due to a profound lack of judgement that calls into question his judgement on every other issue NOT for twittering his weiner. Additionally since you, and many more like you here profess to know me, indicated by your last sentence, but actually know absolutely nothing, I really don't like violence although it does have a place but sex is absolutely better than virtually everything else. It has always amazed me that we can show dismemberment and killings on tv but perish the thought that we should see the glimmer of a naked anything. It says nothing positive about us that we are ok with killing on the screen but not love, even if briefly. Now nudity does not equal sex but you get the idea. Had we been settled by the French rather than the British we would be topless on the beach and having red wine on our cornflakes instead of being so anxiety ridden about sex and its matters. Oh well, lost that one didn't we.
As for the rest of you, I will not deign to respond individually, why waste my time? However, I stand by my statement that this "feigned outrage" over Prosser is due to his winning the election and perpetuating Walkers platform. The election of a state judge normally would not cause all this, besides, no one would even recognize his name were it not for that. Now all you who disagree, continue with the name calling, you can have the last word.

      You say:
"Oh contraire my friend. Never any hypocrisy in my posts."

      Well, let's see about that-

      You say:
"Mere grabbing around the neck does not automatically constitute attempted murder."

LOL!! How about this- does it constitute a profound lack of judgement that calls into question his judgement on every other issue?

      You say:
"I said that Weiner should resign due to a profound lack of judgement that calls into question his judgement on every other issue NOT for twittering his weiner. "

So, in your opinion, twittering his wiener is a profound lack of judgement, but grabbing a woman around the neck because she asked you to leave her office is not?

      See- THAT is hypocrisy.

      You say:
"However, I stand by my statement that this "feigned outrage" over Prosser is due to his winning the election and perpetuating Walkers platform. "

Yeah, our outrage at a judge trying to strangle another judge is just political, but your outrage about a liberal congressman having cybersex is pure.

Again- nothing but hypocrisy in your posts.

    • Somehow I get the feeling the comfortable retirement he may think he so richly deserves depends on him swaying other judges to do what the Brothers Koch want done. Met with some opposition from those uppity wimmens who won't nod and agree with him, he does seem to come unhinged.

And it's all the wimmins' fault, doncha know. Yeah, I grew up watching a misogynist/drunk. I so know the blame game tactic.

timetide, the state government accountability board oversaw a full recount and still authorized the results. It has still left a bad taste in many people's mouths and many are not confident that this election was not rife with election fraud. The Kochs used their money well here.

    • Evidently, the man has issues with women who have earned position and who hold opinions other than his. He called another woman judge, Chief Justice Shirley Abrahamson. "a total bitch" and then blamed his less than judicious behavior ON HER!

From article Classical Gas linked to:

"In March, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that, in a disagreement over a case last year, Justice Prosser had called Justice Abrahamson a “total bitch” and threatened to “destroy” her. Prosser, the paper reported, confirmed making the remarks, saying he “probably overreacted” while accusing Justices Abrahamson and Bradley of being “masters at deliberately goading people into perhaps incautious statements.”

Hey, if a judge can't take a little "goading" (what does he mean here? educated female in position of authority not kowtowing to him?) he is probably too much of a thin skinned hot head to be an impartial jurist.
