(Of coarse the bis, Insider has a more corporate view but i think the different view is important and shows even the systems mouthpiece can't condone this kind of loss, of democratic freedoms...)-F.Today was a perfect commercial against capitalism: Markets surged on the same news that made people riots in the street in Greece today.
Note: Some in the comments are taking umbrage with the description of "capitalism." We're not talking about some free-market ideal here, just the current market system, with its love of bailouts and euphoria whenever anything good happens to the banks.
The blog: LOL Greece, find the blog here: http://lolgreece.blogspot.com/2011/06/not-in-my-muhfxing-name-yorgo.html?utm_sou...
(warning its not a pretty piece and not liberal, but is has merit as an opposing yet important view of now some conservatives too) has a fantastic post today about the collapse of Greek democracy, and the meaninglessness of the bailout, when freedoms are lost and police have carte blanche to strike at protesters.
Don't think that's what happened?
Check out this video.

How about a title "Violent Mob Mentality?" I saw a video where protesters were throwing bricks and Molotov's at police.

Fuck them... why does it have to be one way and not another. Can't someone be provoked. If I got my skull cracked, I'd probably want to beat the fuck out of the cops too

The problem is that some members of the protests aka the anarchists cause a lot of violence as well by throwing petro bombs. There is simply an exchange of violence from both sides here.

The violence was initiated when global corporate and corrupt officials conspired to rape Greece of it's wealth, ala U.S. style. Prior commenters have been spot when they suggest that this crisis is being engineered worldwide to precipitate violence which can be responded to with crushing force. It will be a miracle if we can revive our democracy and financial health without an even greater violence.

COMMONSENSEFORCOMMONGOOD_COM:
Well lets be more realistic, the crisis started due to domestic problems of corruption within the Greek Government. The inefficiency to collect taxes and the moving around of funds were all too obvious. The violence itself is more because of the austerity measures established by the IMF. I don't think global corporations want chaos and destruction since that would contradict their own profit gains. What I hate is how people fail to understand the domestic origins that caused the chaos in the first place and simply want to direct the blame on international corporations. In the end, its more complicated than global corporations want to destroy the world.

Corporations do not want to destroy the world. They wouldn't have a consumer base. These protests are about people who have had way too many social benefits being told they're going to have to suck it up until things get better.

If people have been receiving social benefits, they have been paying for them. When people pay taxes it is for the explicit purpose of receiving social benefits. In the case of Greece, as with most countries, the majority of the people's taxes have been covertly and institutionally appropriated by business and industry in concert with corrupt government. Social programs and entitlements are merely the delivery of goods and services which the citizens have contracted with government to provide in exchange for their tax dollars. That is where they're money is supposed to go and not to Big Business and special interests.

For global corporations to further their total domination of world governments, as they have and do with our government, they must continue their covert sponsorship of those actions which ultimately lead to the erosions of all social constructs which impede their complete control and exploitation of the public.

I do not understand what motivates the police of any nation to turn against the people. Are they really that stupid and easy to train/brainwash? How do the elite get the poilce to side with them? How do they get so many morons to knock down their fellow citizens while propping up the tiny elite? I'll never understand how police states work, but I really want to understand the psychology behind it (what are these cops thinking). It is a very uncomfortable feeling not being able to understand this. I feel so naive not even being able to understand what motivates the storm troopers and I think that makes me more of a potential victim when this ultimately happens em masse in the states.

The training comes largely from the states and riot policing sadly from my own city of Cincinnati too there are publications put out bi-monthly on police tactics at the library for public use :)
