Obama, Clinton and Gay Marriage. So Much For Equal Rights!

Hillary Clinton, addressing a gay pride celebration at the State Department this week, was in spirits as festive as her robin’s-egg-blue pantsuit. The “historic vote in New York” legalizing same-sex marriage, the secretary of state told the gathering of gay and lesbian foreign service workers, “gives such visibility and credibility to everything that so many of you have done over so many years.”

Clinton left out one salient detail, though: She and her boss, President Barack Obama, oppose legalizing gay marriage. It was but the latest display of the internal contradiction in the Obama administration’s policy on gay marriage.

At the core of Obama’s stance is a logical inconsistency: He believes gay Americans should be fully equal under the law, but by opposing gay marriage he supports a system that denies same-sex couples hundreds of federal rights and benefits that married couples receive. The civil unions Obama favors as an alternative have little meaning in federal law.

    • As cb doesn't know, since being supporter of Republic Syndicate, Politics is the Art of Compromise.

It is not the "My way or eff off" that the Republic Syndicate lives by.

      Try reading: Conservatives Without Conscience

a book written by John Dean, who served as White House Counsel under U.S. President Richard Nixon and then helped to break the Watergate scandal with his testimony before the United States Senate. The book analyzes the evolution of the Republican Party, and the different forms of conservatism, largely in terms of authoritarian personality. It was published in 2006 by Viking Press.

The book makes extensive use of the research into right-wing authoritarianism of University of Manitoba Professor Robert Altemeyer.

john dean was a turn coat to save his own pussy ass. he should have been shot. really even at the time, the watergate controversy was hardly a scandal. much worse has been going on in the white house over the past 2 1/2 years. you cant believe everything you read and many folks will say a lot of shit just to sell a book. john deans a loser

bashing obama isnt a waste of time. its relevant, amusing, apropos, cathartic, and a lot of fun. just like any politician he's catering to the needs of a group of folks just to garner more votes. and he's gonna need as many as he can get after letting so many people down with his false promises and forked tongue. he doesnt give a shit about gays, the poor, the children and all the other bleeding heart causes the democrats attempt to sway with their silly rhetoric. just like the right the only thing they care about is power. as long as you've been around i'm surprised you havent figured that out. i dont understand how a minority of americans are still clinging to the hope that was never delivered. join the force tbuff, many democrats have already
