Folks, this is what you get when religious wackadoodles are allowed to promote so many things that are contrary to American way of life as defined in the Consitution and upheld by the Supreme Court. You cannot post comments freely on the original article there, but please feel free to leave your opinion here - unfettered.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A jury found a North Carolina preacher guilty of stalking a Charlotte abortion doctor after passing out hundreds of "wanted" posters with the physician's name and photo on it.

Jurors deliberated about 90 minutes Friday before finding Rev. Phillip "Flip" Benham, director of Concord-based Operation Save America, guilty of misdemeanor stalking, The Charlotte Observer reported.

Benham, 62, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to stop any intimidating behaviors.

"I can't speak. I can't get within 500 feet," Benham said outside court, holding his Bible. "They've stolen from innocent babies a voice that has spoken for them."

Prosecutors said Benham distributed photos with the names and photos of several Charlotte doctors who perform abortions and the words "Wanted ... By Christ, to Stop Killing Babies."

Benham knew that doctors in other places had been killed after similar posters were made, Assistant District Attorney Kristen Northrup said.

"What would a reasonable person think if they saw `Wanted' on a poster with their picture on it?" Northrup said.

    • Why do people think they are the voice of God and no one else is? Why are people using God as an excuse for their stupidity? And why do people think abortion is murder when Abortion happens before life begins? - age of viability when a fetus can sustain life. Abortions are before age of viability - hence late term abortion which are after!!! And why is it not ok to kill a clump of cell but war and executions are cool?

Why is abortion playing God but having a child birth is God's choice? Wouldn't having he child be playing God no different then having abortion? Why cant we encourage people to save money and educate themselves before having a baby? Or better yet not have a baby and adopt one or take care of the living people we know? Its as if we care more for the unborn then those who are born.

    • Perhaps this is one of those chances that comes along ever so often where some progress can be made in bringing together both sides in this Pro-Choice/Pro-Life Debate. My suggestion. A partial death execution.

    • I heard about this insanity on Rachel. "Benham, 62, was sentenced to 18 months of probation and ordered to stop any intimidating behaviors." Oh, yeah, that's going to act as a real deterent for future criminal behavior. This guy will be out in less than 18 months I'm sure and he will start his stalking all over again. These pro-lifers don't quit. Look what happened to George Tiller. But remember, they do this all in the name of religion. Just another reason I'm glad I'm an agnostic.

    • One more example of why freedom of speech is only a protected commodity on the right. Had he been a leftist activist calling for the killing of , oh I don't know -- a christian preacher, he would have gotten prison time.

    • I have a special place in my heart for religious folks, I call that place the basement---it's where I roast them alive--sort of like lobsters but without the water--more of a peanut roasting or coffee bean.

Religion is the major cause of evil on planet Earth! The rest of their sick story is pure bullcrap. Being raised Southern Baptist with pastors and choir directors for relatives qualifies me a expert on the subject! Happy Sunday all!

    • Instead of yelling , stalking the Dr. He should've started an orphanage for unwanted kids. If he wants to represent the kids, well open that wallet & start supportin '

    • Amazing that is all he received was a slap on the wrist! I would have been in jail for years...but since he is a preacher he gets nothing. He is using abortion to hide behind his own demons that are really haunting him. I hope it bites him in his ass in the end!

no kiden, a celebrity stalker serves prison time, but this worthless puke of god, who openly put a bounty on a person gets probation. The probation sentence is just another example of religious bigotry.

    • I live in North Carolina and those crazy ass republicans ruining our great state. Just yesterday over 1000 state employees lost their jobs. All to get rid of a one cent sales tax.

Child molesting democrats like R.C. Soles is also a major problem in NC. He would put on "young men" parties that the other state senators would attend. TC police would run security for him. One of his boy toys, Shaun Stanley, drowned in a hot tub at one of these parties once he got too old to be fun anymore.
Don't get me wrong, I don't like the republicans any better. The only thing that will make things better in this state is a tall tree and short rope for them all!

Here is a website about him and whats come to be known as RC's Boys.
