$11 billion treasure beneath temple in India

This week Indian authority organized a court-ordered search of vaults beneath the Sree Padmanabhaswamy Temple in Thiruvananthapuram. During this even a treasure worth at least $11 billion was found. There were about six vaults, some of which had not been opened in 150 years.

The former royal family of Travancore manages the temple. India’s Supreme Courted ordered to make an investigation how these treasures could amass during these years.
“The Kerala government said Monday the treasure will remain property of the shrine.” Kerala Chief Minister Oommen Chandy said, “There is religious and historical significance to the findings. The state will ensure its security.”
