By the end of this article you might reconsider sitting only under a "fig tree". There are some extremely fantastic trees in this world: exotic, fragrant, fruitful, and simply beautiful. It is summertime in most countries now, so let's pause in a shadow of some of these exceptional living beings (even if you do not believe in "Ents", you will agree that some trees will have incredible stories to tell...).

FANTABULOUS! I will say that creeping fig is an invasive pest in Florida right now, growing out of any building crevice and tree nook it can nestle into. It's amazing how those seeds find their way into the most unlikely of places. I even see them growing our of wire fences where a clump of leaves have piled. Sometimes they can be a bit too fantabulous, I guess. But the world is still a better place with them. Have you conferred with coolplanet about his/her giant sequoia planting efforts? Evidently, they are aggressive carbon consumers and can grow almost anywhere in the U.S.

My idea of magnificent and beautiful trees used to entail a bag of fine Skunk. But some outdoor experiences and a few really nice photos have expanded my horizons.

Some beautiful photos! Gives new meaning to "tree-house." I think I even saw the apple throwing tree from the Wizard of Oz. :)

Thanks for sharing this, treewolf. Many beautiful trees/photos. The two at the bottom of blown-glass art are stunning, too. Amazing.

What a great collection of photographs. They were all so beautiful, interesting, thought-provoking. Just when I thought I had a favorite, I'd scroll down and see something else that I thought was my favorite. I did download the peace sign tree though. I may be mistaken, but I understand that a stand of ash (maybe Birch) trees is the largest single living organism on the planet because they are all connected through the interlocking root system. Amazing.

In years before man, dinosaurs used those trees as little umbellas for their cocktails. Also used them as a recreational drug.

The Jacaranda tree is awesome. I'd love to have a Fall/Winter residence
in Australia with trees like that in the yard. The greens of some of that
water in the scenes realy reach out and grab you. Pretty intense colors
and shapes throughout that photo layout. Great post. Love those trees. - 11 months ago
