Rupert Murdoch has exploited his vast media empire to push war in Iraq, elect George W Bush, spread resentment of muslims and immigrants, and block global action on climate change. He undermines democratic government across the world by threatening elected leaders with vicious and often false media coverage unless they do his bidding.
Britain plays a key role in Europe and the world. If Murdoch has a lock on British media, he will use it to undermine UK, EU and UN support for human rights and democracy. The UK is up in arms over the Murdoch bid, and even the government, elected with Murdoch's help, is split down the middle as it makes a decision this week. Global solidarity bolstered Egypt's pro-democracy protesters -- it can help Britain's. Let's build an urgent global outcry to stop Rupert Murdoch. Sign the petition to Prime Minister Cameron and Deputy Prime Minister Clegg!

It's not in the best interest of society for one person to control ultimate power over it's citizens. Britian should not give Rupert Murdock ultimate power over the news media. This power should be shared by many, not one. Ultimate power corrupts ultimately. A word to the wise is enough.

Since Mr High tech peeping tom & his group were spying on celebs, royalty, paying cops off, making up fictitious e-mails, isn't it safe to assume they were spying on journalists?
Also are the people that he violated in his group's creepy activity going to file a class action law suit.? Surely some can file against him before he sells everything to some other scoundrel and declares bankruptcy? Can't his victims end up owning him? - 11 months ago

I would not normally promote the take down of any media. However the murdoch machine has worked tirelessly to undermine free media themselves so they should die on their own petard

I agree. All media should be open, but not infinitely. The bar must be set high. Murdoch and his minions have proven they are not fit for the rights they are granted as journalists. And I use the term loosely/

If this works I'll be happy as hell, but I'll be angry that England managed to accomplish it when we haven't been able to. Seems like England's commoners have more rights and power than we do.

Wasn't it Rupert Murdoch's Fox News that faught for the right to distort what they report? And Won!
Maybe they thouht they were above the law? I hope the powers that be don't let this be judged in the court of public opinion and move along. There should be consequences. It's up to them to stand up for those who have been hurt by reckless journalism.
Accountability, shame and prosecution. Rupert Murdoch should get what he deserves. Shame, shame, shame!
