Turning one group of citizens against another, by orchestrating massive unemployment as their tool, is yet another success in Big Corporate's efforts to fragment any resistance to their take over while taking the focus off of itself.

Raising the minimum age for social security will also add to this problem.

Turning one group of citizens against another. Were we talking about corporations or the federal government?

John, let me treat you to the coffee. Corporations are the government at this point.

An intelligent person wouldn't see this as pitting one generation against another. An intelligent person would see it as a marketing strategy.

Possibly an intelligent person with half of their brain removed would not see it as it is. An intelligent person with a full brain would recognize that the two issues are not mutually exclusive, and that corporatocracy employs both in their insidious and vampiric assault on the American public. You're having a lapse in logic Warren.

Thom Hartmann had a great idea about this over a year ago.......Drop the age of retirement for Social Security to 55, raise the benefit by 3 or 4 hundreds dollars a month and around 7 to 10 million jobs would open up immediately, dropping the unemployment roles in half. At the same time take that cap off taxable wages to make it infinity instead of 107,000 dollars on Social Security! Problem solved almost over night!

Who's going to pay for the extra ten years of Social Security? Younger people make less than older people. Who's going to make up the difference in lower income tax revenues collected?

A boost in pay to those folks filling the jobs left by the older folks, is one way! You see most folks that are over 55 have decent wages that now could be earned by the younger ones taking their place. Plus less strain on the unemployment compensation being paid out cause the numbers have been cut in half.

If you do not get into the prison industrial complex ( where they profit from your sweat and suffering ) , they want you terrified and clinging to their crap job , so you barely get survival needs met . That way you cannot rise up against you enslavers .

My girlfriend is doing a job she used to do when she first entered the workforce in her early 20s, 30 years ago, at less pay now! The position was previously held by a revolving door of young people who thought it wasn't worth it. She hates it and is looking for something else. But she took it after a 3+ year job search and being told she was overqualified for most of them. I feel bad for her and bad for young people and I blame the corporate coup of the country. The real tragedy is that there is nothing on the horizon that will address this growing problem from leadership or the business community. Young and old must unite, this s**t ain't gonna fly!

I am all to familiar with this, having been looking for a job for 2 years now. I worked for the same company for 27 years only to be forced into "early retirement". So I am too young to actually retire and too old to be hired. Sucks

Unite is the key, prerequisite to any action. Unite behind a People's Progressive Party and we might actually stand a chance in this war.

Again, progressive orgs are too fragmented, they must form an alliance for massive single events. There is a time and place for petitioning, etc. - and we need another type of presence - to be SEEN. We need massive mobilization for boots on the ground events. We can't coffee-klatch the revolution. I'm signing 10-20 petitions a day for over a dozen progressive orgs and the march to a corporate state is unfettered...

I feel your pain. My publishing company is on the ropes. 4 years ago I had a contract in the works for 6 years and 3 more books, not happening now... In the meantime we must create work opportunities for ourselves locally, or try our best to. No-one else can help, sad to say. I know that's easier said than done but that's what I've been up to and I'm just scraping by.
