3 Girls Busted for Illegal Lemonade Stand

I never would have done that! a funny similar story - On patrol I drove by a lemonade stand, and this lone little boy poured a cup of lemonade VERY carefully into a little, very wrinkled, paper cup. I gave him a big tip to help him out and as I was walking back to the patrol car the little boy yelled anxiously to me "Sir, could I have the cup back - I need it for the next customer!!!"

The way I see it, this couldn't have gone better for those girls especially considering they weren't fined or anything. Look at all this publicity and they even achieved their goal of getting to go to the water park! That police chief does seem like a d-bag though...

If they were using GMO lemons, with lots of "corn sweetener" added it would have been ok. However, they were probably using organic lemons and real sugar. Danger Danger Shut them down. Tell the people to go to McDogfood's and pay a lot for lemon flavoured crap.

Schnookums, I'm sure the city will eventually do just that, it actually has more to do with greedy city councils, mayors and managers finding ways to line their own pockets than police pensions and layoffs. It's interesting how more and more "public officials" are being busted left and right for corruption and embezzlement of public funds. I have always said that if the Founding Fathers would have been able to see how their efforts have come to vain that they never would have gone against King George III.

I'm surprised they didn't fine the girls or their parents to generate income for their department (I'm sure their pension plan is underfunded and officers are threatened with layoffs like the rest of the country too). Apparently that is what passes for 'police discretion' these days.

It's all about how cities and townships are extorting money from kids for their outrageous "licenses and fees" We're now in a completely fascist police state all around the US. I think this is a legit way to do this but correct me if I am wrong(and I know someone will :) ). To avoid a scandal could they give out free lemonaid and have a tip jar, or ask for donations? Thats how car washing fund raisers work I believe. I realize thats not the point but it would be nice to see them back out there delivering that sweet lemony goodness on a hot summer day. And when Fife and co come back they can get a glass for free!!

For the record, It's good they were shut down. It will teach the community just how far the land of the free has fallen.

I am so glad that the police identified this public menace so quickly and shut it down. I will feel safe the next time I drive through Midway, Ga., knowing that I am in a crime free zone.

So what they're saying is that if young kids want to open a lemonade stand they have to get food handler's permits, have an officially inspected commissary and pay $50/day in order to sell what, $10 worth of lemonade?
