    • You mean I cant save the planet from my living room?!?! Maby if I wasn't working 2 times as many hours as my grandparents did in order to maintain the same standard of living I would have the energy to change things. Maby If my government were not run by lobbiest pulling the strings of political puppets in a world where money is power and the rich get richer and the poor get fucked over and out.

      sincerly,
      Average Joe

right on I have been Hearing theses copouts for fifty years and read about them in history books including the bible and the average that (assume) they can't do anything
and follow them selves to the slaughter camps as the did Jews in World War II .

I have done so much with so little that when I receive a tool to work with, my first impression , it is fake, why now, I needed it yesterday, I won't have anything to do, they don't pay enough to use it. It's not my job let Gorge do it . and look where we are at .

My God and school teachers gave me ability to find the answers. and not to assume that Caint is the winner, from a nursing home bed ,a wheel chair , the top electric pole or the middle of the field at the super bowl we look at the I CAN's

    • Every piece of crappy furniture from Ikea, every stupid trinket from china, heck every burger we eat is another nail in the environmental coffin. We need to be better consumers demanding more from local markets, that imported beer you drink to wash down a lobster roll comes with an exorbitant carbon foot print price tag. We can get good local products and at the same time reduce the amour of fossil fuel spent and as a bonus support local businesses.

We can also join the fight by signing petitions but more importantly by getting out there and protesting or supporting people that have taken a stand against waste and corruption.

Jan that emotion shows your passion and commitment thank you for this post. I think current needs more original content that reflects what is happening in the world rather than a flood of links to stories( nothing wrong in that) I always prefer to hear from people about how things impact them. Great job Jan.

    • Indeed the planet is a terrible mess, but we also have the pressing problem of the government threatening us at the barrel of a gun to not raise the debt ceiling while they won't do away with the Bush tax cuts. We need action on all fronts.

This government is good for nothing and its terribly sad and tragic that they are the world empire at the moment and Money is their god, while the planet and people are considered collateral damage.

    • The crazy thing about gblg. wrmng. is that corp. want it to happen. One; to open up arctic areas for commerce and exploitation. Two; to create situations allowing to claim and control resources and politics.Three to gather wealth on such a scale that corp. enities will outlast any human led or influenced endeavor(political agenda,philosophy,groups,movements...ect.) Since the 1950's scientists have been warning us of this gblg.wrmng. and everytime they have been belittled, ridiculed, and argued against by corp. It's a crazy situation sort of like a matrx movie with corp. as the mach. civ.and us as the batteries.Well....thats my two cents on it,hope it was enough.(it's still us vs them tho even if it's a losing battle might as well go down swinging)

I have to agree with your two cents on it, and add to it. Four, to sell us products to combat the effects of climate change. I was recently in a beach house in NC and noticed that I kept having horrible heartburn. I started paying attention to when it was occurring and noted that it was always after I drank a glass of the supposedly filtered water from the fridge door. Now I NEVER get heartburn at home, but then I also started noticing that the local station kept running this advertisement for heartburn medication, an advertisement that I never see at home. Go figure.

Could they be harvesting the resources, especially the water, to take on to the next planet were they can start over and expand their gains further? What is that thing under the ice of Antarctica? What happens to Earth if they take the water elsewhere? What the F@#$ am I saying? Crazy?

Actually you're being realistic, because they've been devoting vast sums towards developing Matter transport like on Star Trek. They just recently claimed it had worked too. They actually could make a sudden Breakthrough and be sending water up to waiting ships [they already have].

Great detective thinking squarethecircle!!! Hmm. They also retired all the Space Shuttles having plenty more trips in them so they could launch all the "retired" shuttles and fill all their cargo bays with transported water, maybe even one for fuel and one for oxygen?

Two if by Sea? haha The two with water vs two by sea. I slay me!!!

Space-X & a few other "private developers" of passenger jet space-capable ships will be getting a big shot in the arm soon => the Mighty Engine that weighs vastly less than their present engines. Hmm, you're right. The college students doing their professor's work for them are making it all come true and, I think here's a hint => IT ISN'T BEING DONE FOR THE OLD PEOPLE.

    • I am going to share this with family and friends. The more people hear the truth, the more it will show up to them in the things they see and do and they will start to wake up. I fear everyone won't get it in time, but save all you can. Thank you Jan...your perspective and care are moving.

    • Yes, WE are the alternative. How many of us TRULY are willing to change our comfortable ways of doing EVERYTHING so that we may help this planet? This is not some "hippie" rhetoric. NO this is REAL! But Jan here is the truth: There is going to be that large population of people who deny and will not change their thinking or their ways of living and they will pay dearly for it. If you mess with nature, if you put masses of people in desperate conditions, if you forget about togetherness, if you depend on some corrupt government/ corporation to support you....YOU SUFFER! It is crystal clear what needs to be done, just DO it and stop sleeping because complacency, procrastination and ignorance is what is TRULY destroying this place we call home

    • Well said, Jan. You are a kind and caring spirit.

While you are not alone in your feelings on this, it certainly *is* an uphill battle. As best I can tell, it is a battle we can only win with numbers. Large numbers of people who realize, as you do, the peril we are in and who insist our voices be heard. Keeping our planet habitable should be humanities highest priority, imho. Without this planet, all else is irrelevant. Without this planet, humanity does not even exist.

Powerful words and emotion in the video, Jan. Much respect to you.

    • I'm on your team
Joplin,Mo lost 30% of their city the grief and sorrow and the lost of friends and jobs and so much cost to mend and repair and recover just because we don't like to change old habits if we become independent from the oil and coal those poor stock market boys will go broke.
I haven't seen any investment from companies to improve this country. Check the history the cotton gin , the railroad ,the electric to rural America, telephone
improved interstate roads, the internet ,medical research, and schools only advance when Federal money and rules apply when selfish desire overpower the common good. This anarchy raises it head .
I was raised when the wealthy brag about paying taxes they saw results from the leading American spirit could overcome challenges that presented it self.

The churches lost sight of helping the unfortunate they wanted big new buildings
The county had poor farms for the needy and they indenture the children of families for cheep labor
The states wanted the federal money news roads and bridges also meant profits and tax revenue .

Now we want cheep labor (who is we?) cheep labor means higher profits. Only when companies sell to people having money. The church need more people to supply their financial need but it is not the labor that gives to the church they don't have time to go to Church because they work seven days a week at the will of the employer any mixture of any time on and off . The church say it is wrong to strike because strikers are bad people in the bible they preach how wonderful the employer is serving God and the employee need to go to private school that the employer owns there you will be taught well
The socialist are people that work for the good of the people in the community with common hope for the future
The christian work for the good of the people in their community with common hope for the future.
the corporation employee work for the good of fellow employee in the corporation with common hope for the future.

That , was great , Jan . I felt really humbled . Because , part of me had been discouraged . You haven't . That is what makes you a leader here , and likely where you live . You want to do what is RIGHT . What is DECENT and JUST . And you want to do it for love . Really , what other reason is there ? Love , to me is the noblest of all motivators . It is the creator of courage . It is NOT weakness , but Great strength . Many are too afraid to feel their own vulnerabilities , let alone those of another living thing , or the Planet . Mother Gaia is real and she gives us all . Spoiled and ungrateful children that we have been , it is time to grow up . It is past time to step up . You know , the military is socialist . They get Health care , tell you where to live , school the kids , no profit grocery stores , and die for their way of life . They got theirs . The question i have is , would they really turn on us , for wanting the same damn thing ? I am not sure they would . They are us . You are right , We are the alternative . I am glad you will be there October 6th , is it ? I wish i could be there . I hope to be doing what i can here .

When the army came home in world war one they marched on Washington and had machine guns and tear gas on them.
When the soldier were to come the GI bill was written to support troops , housing Jobs and schooling.
When the Vietnam soldier came Home they were called baby killers and was denied veteran benefits and it took many years to accept Agent Orange and caused so much damage to the troops .

Our first all volunteer troops came home with a sickness that was suppose be all in the head and it was not treated until the news services called to the attention the deplorable condition of health care to the service man at Walter Reed while supporting for the privatization of veteran benefits and hospitalization the out cry was so tremendous they have not mention privatization veteran benefits again,
So the news corps turned their attention to privatization of social security and the stock market crashed and now they want to change how we work and get paid .

They the elite Deserve to live with no tax on their income or property and Business investments such as speculation on oil , grocery, rental property and bonus
That is why they own so many news services
I owe my sole to the company store,

Joplin, Missouri was hit by a tornado the size of which has occured many times in history. The tornadoes just never hit a population base the size of Joplin before.

That's impossible. They just invented it! However you raise a very intriguing point => maybe THEY SHOULD DUMP IT INTO THE WATER, AS AN ANTIDOTE. We can be getting the Jolt & the Aniti-Jolt at same time, same bat channel.

But then they'd really start charging the Big Bucks too!
