Debt Political Theater Diverts Attention While Americans' Wealth is Stolen

letsliveinpeace
Congressman Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) today spoke on the House floor about the massive transfer of wealth from the American people to the hands of the few by virtue of wars, energy policies and monetary policies. He called upon Americans to witness Wall Street's theft of Main Street, which has left millions of everyday Americans out of work and seniors facing cuts to Social Security to pay for tax cuts for the rich.

    • How the Supreme Court can't see this as a major security risk is totally beyond me. International corporations are just that: international, NOT National. Their Citizens United decision has created and enabled a clear and present danger for foreign intervention. This DOES fit the definition of treason.
"The Constitution of the United States, Art. III, defines treason against the United States to consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid or comfort."
As Clausewitz said, "War is politics by another means". International Trade also is determined by politics, therefore trade also can be war conducted by another means.
Using this logic "Free" trade is tantamount to unilateral disarmament.

    • While I admire and agree with Rep Kucinich, there is a weakness in his speech. He generalized the problem to the point where is sounds like a reasonable business model. You open a business, hope for a lot of customers, make a little money on each of them, and make a nice profit. I would like to see fire and brimstone speeches about the abuses of the American trust. To tell me that defense contractors make money is not news. To say that bankers become wealthy at their business doesn't shock me. I don't know, but I have always thought that Warren Buffet was able to make lots of money without screwing anybody, or relying on government handouts. Congressman Kucinich is right to say that we are doing it wrong, but in this speech, he is not really clear on what the abuse is. The bonuses on Wall street, the overcharging of the military, the cost of cleaning up polluters: I know what he was talking about, but you shouldn't have to agree with a speaker to understand what he is talking about. I hope I am wrong, and that some bonehead somewhere says "yeah, I get it."
On a side note, this is a man with a smokin hot wife, and a true love of this country; I miss Grayson, he was growing a voice; Wiener let me down, the scandal should have been beneath him.

    • We need to have a revolt in 2012. Vote for the people that will look to the nation instead of a few people like the Koch brothers. We realy need anouther teddy roosevelt or for that mater a Franklin Deleno Roosevelt in office.

    • He's so right , but we do nothing.
Are we simply cowards or are we at a loss of what to do? I hate to think i am , but I certainly feel like a coward....what does one person do to change this corrupt system? Write my Senators, Reps, Governor....I do....What more can I do ?
May be a dumb question, but how does one go about promoting ideas ? without having $$$ to put up bill boards or full page news print ads...Imagine being able to post this Kucinich speech on every radio and television across the Country.
Maybe it's a case of too many issues to deal with ...if everything is corrupt where does one start ? It's overwhelming ....the list of corrupt agencies is mind boggling ...We need our own army....

Here's a thought; most of us work or interact with several others. Do your research, print out clear charts or statements, think about what you want others to know. If you can successfully convince two people that change is needed, then help them learn to do what you did, then the problem is solved. Everyone on the planet would know the truth and see the danger. This will likely work unless there was a popular tv channel, or web sites that spread misinformation. it's probably worth a try though, and I can tell you that if you can make one convert to rational thinking, it is a good feeling.

    • "These are the symptoms of a government that has lost its way, and they are a challenge, legitimately to the two party system."

      That is putting it mildly.

Thanks for the post. Thank you Mr. Kucinich. Thank you so very very much.
