S.O.S. LIBYA - NATO attack GREAT MAN MADE RIVER, THE ONLY SOURCE OF DRINKING WATER and irrigation for 4.5 MILLION the people of Libya

worrg
July 22 2011. A date for humanity to remember. NATO hit the Libyan water supply pipeline. It will take months to repair. Then on Saturday they hit the pipeline factory producing pipes to repair it. The Libyan leader Moammar Al Gaddafi informed members of the Security Council in his message that the alliance decided to carry out mass murder against the Libyan people by targeting their only drinking water source, where billions were invested and without it life stops in Libya. He wondered what's the relation between this factory and the protection of civilians that NATO claims it is carrying out? http://www.makeahistory.com/index.php/recent-news/42990-nato-attack-great-man-ma...

    • This , is a gift to the oligarchs . They did not want water independence anywhere it can be prevented , that is how they plan to maintain control , since oil is running out . It is too simple to sat gaddafi is all evil . he stood up to the banks and wanted water sovereignty for his part . That is some ting our leaders here did not ensure for us . I had a small hope they would keep the river in tact .

    • Are you seriosly trying to drum up support for moammar gaddafi over this? fuck that murderer and fuck this blatant propoganda. where were your pithy little concerns when Gaddafi was pounding the shit out of the civilians in Misrata with tanks and rocket artilery? Punk ass Gaddafi could not even take that city form a bunch of civilians who left his tanks littering the streets with their smoking husks. There are no civilians in tripoli their are only poor people who are being used by Gaddafi and his chicken shit mercinary forces as human sheilds. the sooner that mad dog and his gang of thugs are removed from Libya the better it will be for all her people.

    • Are they using depleted uranium ammunition here too ? The U.S. simply wants it all ...they want to control the world for the elite...we have no part in their agenda.

    • Is there an English translation to this video? And I knew that sooner or later the water would be a victim of the war there. The same thing happened in Iraq. The water and electricity were taken out. Using water as a weapon is immoral and unconscienable. And notice how you never see anything about Libya in the US media anymore?

    • The 1st of September marks the anniversary of the opening of the major stage of Libya's Great Man-Made River Project. This incredibly huge and successful water scheme is virtually unknown in the West, yet it rivals and even surpasses all our greatest development projects. The leader of the so-called advanced countries, the United States of America cannot bring itself to acknowledge Libya's Great Man-Made River. The West refuses to recognize that a small country, with a population no more than four million, can construct anything so large without borrowing a single cent from the international banks.

In 1985 my dad, retired top ad man for U.S. Steel, came out of retirement to work on a film for the Libyan government about this great manmade river project. He talked of it often and I remember learning of the vast freshwater aquafer that Gaddafi was piping all across north Africa.
He thought is was one of the greatest and most generous engineering feats of the 20th Century.

If I remember correctly the great man made river project was contracted out to a number of Korean firms.

You make an excellent point. Libya is under attack precisely because quaddafi offered an alternative to submission to the Western habit of structured infrastructure projects that feed banks with a flood of tolls and tariffs. But already the theocracy of democracy and free markets is part of the old propaganda. The new unifying theme for the expansion of a core Western ideology is "green". And green is the code for the flow of the most basic assets, namely, food, energy and water. Water is the great long lever and all-purpose switch for the Westernization of the Middle East in the eventual post oil age. Western control of water is critical to the linkage of the international version of Western Civilization and the penchant for survival which makes government seem palatable to so many of us. It would be rather difficult to simulate an Oriental hydraulic despotism without it. A government without water is no government at all.

It is a ruthless tactic. Libya is simply a stage in a much wider ranging Total War. NATO needs now to win a long term victory. The alternative would be to open the door to a new epoch of unrelenting retaliation. Do you sense the drumbeat of the new forms of conflict that threaten to scar the 21st century?
