How They Kill You, And Why They're Never Punished !

Image
"On September 2, 2009, the transnational pharmaceutical giant Pfizer pled guilty to multiple criminal felonies. It had been marketing drugs in a way that may well have led to the deaths of people and that definitely led physicians to prescribe and patients to use pharmaceuticals in ways they were not intended.

Because Pfizer is a corporation--a legal abstraction, really--it couldn't go to jail like fraudster Bernie Madoff or killer John Dillinger; instead it paid a $1.2 billion "criminal" fine to the U.S. government--the biggest in history--as well as an additional $1 billion in civil penalties. The total settlement was more than $2.3 billion--another record. None of its executives, decision-makers, stockholders/owners, or employees saw even five minutes of the inside of a police station or jail cell."

So writes Thom Hartmann in his book "Unequal Protection". Why are corporations so readily willing to cut these financial deals with the courts and prosecutors? They know that the money left over after the official's skim off the top of it, they will probably get that money, and more, back in the form of a subsidy, write off allowance, tax abatement, or other Congressional kickback.

We must recapture the voting process and then eliminate corporate personhood!

I recall reading our Current.com community Whitenoise' researched
how that atrocity came into being once. If you blog all his comments
to 2 years back, you'll likely find it. I believe he cited the data idenfying
the Court case so that you could research it yourself. The current
Corporate personhood theory came about when a Corporation was
a defendant in a case brought against them on grounds of the 14th
Amendment, which amongst other things, was ratified by the States
and incorporated into the Federal Constitution to ensure that every
State of America would be legaly bound to apply the 5th Amendment
rights to each citizen equaly w/o regard to race, creed, color, national
origin. No more Discrimination & mala fide exclusion from legal process.

The Corporation defending itself decided to subvert the very law which
was used to bring the case by means of Bribing the Court reporter to
forge the words of the Court stenographer into deciding the case in
favor of the defendant Corporation which (not who) claimed it had
Corporate personhood. That is, though the judge decided the case
in favor of the plaintiff, by means of the mob tactics the Corporation
deployed including Bribery, Forgery, Intimidation of the Judge and
Court stnographer, the case was falsely recorded in the official records.
Like a machine, every other court, and even State's laws and likely
Federal laws snowballed this atrocity into it's present abomination.
The use of Organized Crime to subvert the Court is why " Corporate
personhood " in all it's irrational absurdity is still mindlessly parroted
to this day. Yet people read the phrase " Those who ignore the lessons
of History are forever doomed to repeat it's mistakes " and say duh
are the calibre of puppets pretending to run things. Duh indeed. Bob
Dylan was right. No news there. And the parade of stupid goes on.
