Progressives United New Website

Image

From an Email I received this morning:

"Since Russ Feingold launched Progressives United earlier this year, hundreds of thousands of Americans have joined us in the fight against corporate dominance of government.

Today, to accommodate our rapid growth and take our united activism to the next level, I'm pleased to announce the launch of our brand new website.

This new website, with more tools and more opportunities to take action, will be a big boost as we fight to bring accountability to CEOs like G.E.'s Jeff Immelt, sellout public servants like Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker, and influence-peddling corporate front groups like ALEC.

With elections coming up in Wisconsin next week and around the country soon -- and with corporate money already flowing into politics through shadowy front groups like Karl Rove's Crossroads -- we had to launch our new website right now to get these important grassroots tools into activists' hands as soon as possible.

The new site will make it easier to organize collectively to hold politicians, corporations, and the media accountable by providing you a prominent forum -- right on the home page -- to discuss and address new challenges with your fellow progressives.

In fact, right now progressives are discussing their thoughts on the proposed debt ceiling solution.

With an early victory in the Wisconsin recall elections over Scott Walker's corporate-driven agenda, we've got the momentum to make big progress in this fight.

Now, with the launch of the new ProgressivesUnited.org -- and our expanded grassroots organization -- we have a powerful tool to help us.

In all, progressives like you will drive a huge portion of the activism and content on our new website -- because Progressives United belongs to you.

So come on by, kick the tires, get involved -- and let's take our fight against the corruptive influence of corporate power to a whole new level.

Thank you for uniting as a progressive."

    • No, I wont vote for a rethuglican, not even one dressed up like a democratic president. I and my fellow Liberals with a spine will be voting for a PROGRESSIVE canidate because we have principles and a spine to stand for them. All you Obama brown-nosers want to claim that its our fault when bluedog dems and their ilk loose an election with a repuglican. well maybe if you gave a damn about the core principles of your base and stopped feilding a canidate who was just barely not a republican cause they would let women keep access to abortions then maybe your Liberal base might come out and support them and the republicans would stop winning. In other words you say its us that need to come to your side so that we avoid the rise of republicanism in our country, But in my opinion we have been living with republicanism since Obama bent over for the republicans in the healthcare debate and took off singlepayer and a public option and got nothing in return. Seems to me the people here who fear a republican resurgance are you centrist middle of the fucking road fair weather democrats who stand to loose the most the rest of us on the true left have had our hopes and ideals and progress striped from us an inch at a time since this so called democratic president took office so we realy dont see a whole lot of differance between the suffering we will have to endure under republican rule as opposed to the backstabing debasing humiliation and suffering we have endured under you milktoast centrist give away the farm and the cow bull shit. I think it is you and yours that have the most to loose under a republican leadership (and if you dont your just rich assholes anyway) than we the poor progressive base of the party, so hows about this? you all get your collective heads out of your asses and help us feild a truely progressive canidate for democratic president or we let the republicans Rape you and your children? Cause the rest of us on the left already have half of Obamas dick up our ass, whats the differance if we let the republicans tag switch out with this DINO? Not much I'd say. so the ball is in your court now centrists do you want to side with the progressives or the tea party republicans there will be no riding the fence any more.

I hope you don't mind if I cry on your shoulders after November, 6th, 2012, since they say misery loves company and because if a lot of you do do that, WE'LL ALL LOSE, and will be taking turns crying on each other's shoulders!

Split the ticket, be in the same bucket....that's all we'll have after the Republicans take from us what we have left in a year and a half.

What a game plan. Divide ourselves and be conquered by lowlifes. It's a math thing, they say. And I fear Democrats won't be able to afford to toss one vote away in 2012.

But this is America, and you have the right to do what you feel is best for you. But I tell you know, it won't be good for me or the Democratic Party.

Oh well, I'll stock up on tissues for the both of us.

      (Edited 8/3, 8:28 A.M.)

      If you only knew.

As you could plainly see if you were to check out my comments on my Profile page, I can be plethoric in prose produced. Now, imagine you work in a politician's headquarters and you have this dude who fills the inbox with letters, the computer with emails, twitter account with tweets, Facebook comments if strung together that could encircle the globe, you know "his voice" since he's called so many times. The guy who pickets and shows up at the rallies and is always seen at the marches.

      That's me.

Tell me, what are your conributions to the "cause"?

And your remark, "instead of telling every one that this guy rapes us nicer than the other guy will."?

He's not raping you, it's his way of showing his love. He's gentle. And he does use "protection".

And the other guy? The Republican? He's a member of the S & M club for crazies and has an assortment of toys that curls your hair in ways you don't want it curled. And he goes "natural"...no protection at all!

And the worst thing of all? That Republican hates your guts. Obama does care about your well-being.

If you can't see the difference, I have nothing I can say that can change your mind.

This subject doesn't need any further debate since you have closed your mind about listening to my opinions.

With that said, we have nothing more to say to one another on this subject. Let's part ways amicably until we meet again exchanging our comments about other subjects.

what are my controbutions to the cause? what we gonna have a dick mesuring contest here? my controbution is not backing down on core progressive liberal ideals. Call me an Idealist I am and I am proud to be one. And no this president has done nothing for me and mine and to top it off I did vote for him and believed him and told all my friends and family to support him so now I get to live with theat shame now too that I helped support a dishonest untrust worthy spineless career politician to be elected POTUS. I get too that he was between a rock and a hard place but in those sittuations you put your back to the rock and stand your ground, you don't lay down your arms and beg on bended knee for mercy while sacrificing your most precious treasure. No you middle of the roaders will have to elect this fraud on your own this time. Hopefully the rest of us progressives will use the same internet to dethrown this shyster and replace him with a real progressive who will put the same kind of hurt on the rich as they have on the rest of this nation. Oh and by the way if Im close minded then what the fuck are you and your supporters? true believers I guess....have fun with your messiah.

You must really be hurting to have to sling these insults towards me. You don't know me and yet you feel as if you have a right to call me names and deride my comments.

I am thankful I do not live near you, work with you, am a member of some organization with you, go to church with you or anything that would put us in the same social circles.

You seem to be a very negative individual. I doubt those whose are part of your social network hear your rants and hatred of Obama and his Administration on a daily basis, if not hourly.

It probably wouldn't hurt if youwere to take a chill pill and take a break from politics for a time.

And, BTW, you're no Idealist as far as I can tell. You lack the positivity it takes to be one.

What I would label you as is a *Negativist.

*A habitual attitude of skepticism or resistance to the suggestions of others. Behavior characterized by persistent refusal, without apparent or logical reasons, to act on or carry out suggestions of others.

P.S. I doubt you'd want to know how long my dick is. Or how big my balls are. I wouldn't want to add to your miseries you seem to be having with the Democratic Party, in particular Mr. Obama.

P.P.S. I did not vote for him. I wrote in Daffy Duck. So you can't blame ME. I took the chance that Obama would win without my vote. A gamble on my part. But this past November was a different story. I wasn't going to play Russian Roulette like I did in 2008. I voted straight up Democrat.

      P.P.P.S. PPPPFFFFFFFFFFFFLLLLLLLLLLLLLLTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!

I can't argue with that, noxidereus, but I think it's worth trying to change the Democratic Party.

Taking a leaf from the Tea's methods, primary in more progressive candidates, force the Party to the left, and do our best to start rooting out the influences that are corrupting the process.

If it doesn't work, at least there will be people in office, and a structure to work with, should it become obvious that a third party is called for. Look at the changes the Teas have forced in the Republican Party, that's how it was accomplished.

      Your thoughts on this?

I am a very liberal Independent. I registered as a Democrat so I can vote in the primaries. In the general elections I will vote for whoever I like the best. Fear of the perceived worser of two evils, or my perception of the odds of my candidate winning will not affect my voting choices at all. I will not be voting for Obama again. That is for certain.

I just got through replying to Wofless with this comment and even though it's being redundant, I can't think of better words than this to explain why you or anyone should not do this......UNLESS, you WANT the Republicans to win. Lordy, Lordy, Lordy I hope not! I don't think you'd want that either! Please tell me I'm right.....

All it does is divide one Party or the other when you vote Third Party. You're THROWING your vote away when you do that since that candidate has a snowball's chance in Hell winning. It comes down to an either or proposition. Either a Republican wins or the Democrat. None other.

Now, think about it for a second. Where would we be if McCain had won? The Republican agenda would be working double overtime ending SS and MediCare and the only option you or I would have today is figuring out who and how much we would be paying for privatized healthcare and retirement plans.

We would be holding a voucher, or as the Republicans call it, coupon to use to negotiate with a healthcare provider what kind of plan we could afford. The one where the plan doesn't kick in until you've spent all of your life savings, sold your house and car and begged family and friends to loan you money...THEN they would pay so little that you'd be hardpressed to find a doctor that would take you in as a patient...if you could find one. Then, all the money you would put into a PRIVATE IRA would be at the mercy of the stock markets and could be eaten up by an unscrupulous investor and there would be absolutely NOTHING for you to live on if that happens, because the government would be out of that business. No fall-back plan like the SS Trust Fund does now for all those workers that toil every day, earning just enough to pay bills, buy food, clothe their bodies, etc., etc., then at the end of the day have nothing to put aside for their retirement. But the Republicans would just blame you for not being smart enough to invest it wisely. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?

How many of those smart Wall Street investors lost their shirts, too? And think how all those public and private pension funds lost so much that many have gone belly up and there's nothing for all those workers who slaved their lives away....except.....our government backs those pension funds but the retiree receives a small portion of what they were promised. And that would end too. The SS Administration is the most efficeint government-run agency ever! They charge less than 1% to operate it. If we allow private firms to run it they have already said that they will charge above 6%. We'll lose money right out of the gate. And there will be no FDIC type insurance plan to rely on if all your money is lost.

I hope this helps explain why I think it would be suicide to vote for anyone BUT the candidate chosen to represent the Democratic Party.

Divide and be conquered.......that's what will happen to those who say they won't vote for Obama will be doing to the Democratic Party! But they will be doing that also to those who do vote for him, too.

I can't thnk of a better gift for the Republican Party than Democrats splitting their ticket!

That is how the American people have lost our country, if we ever had it in the first place. We are divided into Corporate slave Republicans or Corporate slave Democrats. It isn't the politicians who are divided at all in reality. It is us.

I used to wonder why the SCOTUS ruled that we can carry weapons in schools, churches, bars, restaurants and anywhere else. And made rulings that are anti-social in nature. And just ruled you can say anything about the President or carry an AK-47 to an Obama rally and even say you would like to see him catch a 30-30 cartridge....and that's ok....but carry a paper sign to a Bush rally and get beat down by the cops.

They want us fighting with one another! And doing even worse I fear.

They've been for a long time like in our early history they pit the servants against the slaves against the indians, etc.

Quote from the Butter Battle Book by Dr Suess:

      Then my grandfather said,
"It's high time that you knew
of the terribly horrible thing that Zooks do.
In every Zook house and in every Zook town
      every Zook eats his bread
      with the butter side down!"

"But we Yooks, as you know,
      when we breakfast or sup,
      spread our bread," Grandpa said,
      "with the butter side up.
      That's the right, honest way!"

"For knighthood is not in the feats of warre,

But in a cause which truth can not defarre:
He ought himself for to make sure and strong,

And no quarrell a knight ought to take
But for a truth, or for the common's sake"

      LOL

Honest.reality. It amazes me to think that there are those that will not vote for a Democrat and think that's not the same as voting for the Republican! If you water your vote down by voting for a third party, it's the same as throwing your vote away. That's "backdoor" voting for a Republican.

I sometimes here people who call themselves Democrats who say they voted for this Dem or that Dem, but say that they will not vote for this Dem or that Dem ever again. But they're Republicans in Democrat sheep's clothing running around in the Democrat sheep pen making noise to confuse nervous Democrat sheep into believing them. There are such a thing as DINOs. And then there are Subterfuge Republicans. They're two of the most dangerous. Remember how the Republican Party tried to get Repubs to run as a Democrat in Wisconsin? Yeah, they are the WORST. It's like capturing an enemy soldier wearing the uniform of our American military. They should be shot on site as spies or traitors!

I'm old school Yellow Dog Democrat.

Put a suit and tie on that yellow dog and I'll vote for him! Every time!

Maybe I should change that to, "If you were to put a suit and tie on a turd I would STILL vote for it before I would ever even entertain a thought about voting for a Republican."

The Middle-Class is being depleted before our eyes and we have these simpletons, stating, "lets get a Third Party Candidate"..
Unlike Democrats, Republicans are unified in their message, and they are loyal to their cause. They speak in unison, regardless to their message, right or wrong.
I am committed to the Progressive/Liberal agenda/policies, and I know damn well, splitting the vote only helps the terrorist in the Republican Party, get elected.

This is critical - as it stands, a very small group of primary voters are choosing the candidates for us. Be in the middle of your primary or caucus and fight like hell for the more progressive of the candidates! Seriously! This is how the Teas got where they are.

we the surrendered our power to them and it will take much work to recover that power.

it will have to be instant protest stop a company from selling any thing during peak selling hours hit then in their pocket books
Hit run and take no prisoners block the traffic all around the business not with 20 but instant thousand like the teenagers are doing with their texting gang dance. with all the under employed most cities can get a thousand cars involve 500cars for and 500 cars against wow what a protest at target.
Cars are a lot slower to move out a jam than just people and you can't prove who is and who Isn't .
one city a day of protest strike around a Wal-mart store or target or koch trucking system or a fox news reporter or an anti abortion headquarters may be a member of congress near a tea party supporter They did it in Joplin against the Westboro church it work they haven't been back and the news media stop talking about them they did not report what happen. but they could report Obama go home and stop 7000 students from listening to the President. Now that is treason in my books

They can't jam all communications It only take 3 or 4 times this would become contagious
and we would have a fun party
surround a tea party fake Indians
      they are still fakes

It's time to point out the absurdity of campaigning against a sitting President in an off year. They are tearing us apart today for political gain tomorrow. That's just sad.

There's a time to campaign and there's a time to govern. Let our representatives govern. Rich people should not waste their riches on tearing our country apart in an off year. Ordinary Americans should not be forced into donating to campaigns in an off year. Money is too dear.

It's time to tone down the rhetoric and shame those who are not. This is our country. This is our President. It's time to stand up for our country and our President! Politicians and media should not be bribed to do it. It's their patriotic duty. Ordinary Americans should not be forced to donate to campaigns to try and save this country, with counter attacks. No attacks would be much more American! I don't want to be at war in my own country!
