HOLY COW, if I believed in the Bible I would herald this as the beginning of the End of Days!
I thought the heatwave was hellish BEFORE, but this just takes the cake. See this report on more hellish heatwave events here: http://liberal-propaganda.blogspot.com/2011/07/mother-nature-raises-hell-this-su... - 10 months ago

----------------
That's because their mouths and their courage are inversely proportional: the bigger the mouths, the smaller the courage.
They just don't want to admit that their gluttonous usage of water has way outpaced the amount of water that naturally enters the aquifers upon which they depend.
What they don't seem to yet get is that the portion of their aquifers that goes dry will likely never again be able to store water.
So the more they gobble up, the less they will have to depend on in the future.
The leadership in Texas has been piss-poor about this issue. There should have been strong leaders, acting as stewards for Texas' natural resources, including water...strong enough to stand up to the big-mouthed water gluttons (corporate and just plain Joes) and kept hammering at them with the reality of the situation until it sinks in.
So leaders like GWBush and Dick Perry have contributed to this catastrophe in Texas.
Texas will never be the same, thanks to the piss-poor leadership and the resource-wasting citizens of Texas. There are farms which have been worked by generations of the same family, going back to the original settlers of Texas, that are being abandoned, as the last generations of those farming families simply pack up and walk away from it.
It is heart-breaking, but it was predictable.

"Hog Waller" Your precious Bailey!! No, really, sorry to see that sad sight. Thanks for showing us. We have actually had some rain in N. GA last night and one night about a week back, but there have been ove 55 days of 90+ heat this summer. Yesterday my car thermometer read 104 when I got in. It will be worse for all of us in the coming decade and past. Dust bowl time, people.

The Hawiians use wild boar to make Kailua Pig for their Luaus. They dig a pit, build a bonfire in it, cover the coals with lava rock, wrap the boar in Taro leaves, refill the pit and let it slow cook for a day. It is by far the most delicious pork I have ever tasted.
