Mitch McConnell Admits That Republicans Took America Hostage

Image

Much to the shock of the Washington Post, Mitch McConnell admitted that his party took the debt ceiling hostage and by extension, America. He even admitted that many of his Republican colleagues were willing to kill the hostage.

“I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting,” he said. “Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming. And it focuses the Congress on something that must be done.”

McConnell also stated that he “could imagine doing this again.” In other words, expect the Republican Party to play the part of hostage taking terrorists every time the debt ceiling needs to be raised. And every time the future of America is at stake. This shows how little the Republican Party cares about America and the American people. So next time the right-wing proclaims their love for America, remember that they were willing and are always willing to shoot America in the head for political gain.

    • The Dems better let the people know what these thugs have done. Because in no time at all the Re-pubic-cons will blame everything under the sun on Obama. The slow economy will drag on in it's present condition longer, if not worsen because of what they've done concerning the the debt ceiling. History shows that the government needs to spend not cut when the economy is slow. This will be a disaster and they will blame it on Obama. Obama and the dems need to get aggressive now and start driving home everything these con artist, home grown terrorists have done. I'm so friggen sick of the passive nature of the Democratic party. It's like they're trying to distinguish a forest fire with a water pistol. For the love of god get mean!

I really can't figure the Democratic Politicians out. They act as if they are afraid of their own shadow.
You are not the only one that is disgusted with these sorry ass so-called Progressive/Liberals. I am also sick of their inability to stand up to the vile/vicious/terrorists in the GOP.
You are absolutely correct about the lies that the Republicans spin/spout to the American People, with the help of the media. The Democrats could use their lies against them, if they only had enough backbone to bring attention to their lies and evil policies.

They do need to spend not cut. They can do that when the economy grows. I don't know how he will get the house to help him. They would rather blame Obama.

    • I agree with congress on expanding the debt ceiling. I do similar things at home; as a matter of fact, instead of cancelling my cable service that I can't afford, I decided to put it on my credit card and let my daughter pay for it after I die. I really think congress is onto something here. Maybe I can afford those new golf clubs after all...what were those Republicans thinking, trying to reign in spending like that? Damn right wingers!

      This is the real point.

A lot of them weren't bluffing, they were *really going to do it*.

Plenty of them didn't give a fuck, they had investments overseas. What did they care if the country sank?

    • The GOP are quick to quote the Constitution. But what they are doing is actually against the Constitution. Their main goal is to defeat the President and they do not care about any collateral damage this may cause, such as high unemployment and a weak economy. Because as long as the employment remains high and the economy weak, they think they will win. So wake up and realize who is really at fault for the country being in this mess and vote these traitors out in 2012.

Good comment. I believe if it wasn't for the president the Republicans would have let us default. We need Obama back in 2012 and get rid of the Republicans, especially the teaparty house. Putting, defeating our president ahead of the country is evil.

I agree. I hope the rest of our fellow progressives start to realize this and stop all the nonsense about having someone primary him, which will only let the GOP win. Progressives need to be strong, push the President when you disagree but support him. Put yourselves in his shoes, how would you handle what he has been handed? He came into office with the worse economy since the great depression, the opposition has made it no secret that their main goal is to block everything he tries to accomplish and defeat him no matter what, so they can regain power. From day one they have claimed they want him to fail even it the country fails as well. How they can call themselves patriots is beyond me. And how anyone can support these traitors is unbelievable.

By the way, it has now come out that the economy was much worse in 2008 than even most economist thought, so taking that into consideration he made good decisions based on the information he was given at the time to save the country from falling off the cliff.

Now if the European Countries can get their act together and save Italy and Spain before they fall like Ireland, Portugal and Greece, they can stop another economic melt down which will result in another Worldwide recession.

    • Senate Minority Leader just admitted he and his party on the Hill are terrorists: any means to an end, any collateral damage is ok with them.

    • HarukoHaruhara:

From Article 3, Section 3 of The United States Constitution:

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court."

And the quote from Mr McConnell:

"“I think some of our members may have thought the default issue was a hostage you might take a chance at shooting,” he said. “Most of us didn’t think that. What we did learn is this — it’s a hostage that’s worth ransoming. And it focuses the Congress on something that must be done.”"

Mr McConnell does not question the validity of taking The United States hostage. He only questions whether the hostage should be shot or sold for ransom. Either way, how could that *not* give "Aid and Comfort" to America's enemies (whoever you may believe America's enemies are)?

As for the two witnesses... let's see, there's you and me, and every other American who is aware of Mr McConnell's statement.

So, Mr McConnell and the professional Republican politicians believe that it is good policy to hold America hostage. They (professional Republican politicians) only differ on the point of shooting the "hostage" or ransoming the "hostage." His statement is certainly "overt." And we certainly have more than two witnesses to this.

So, yes. It looks like treason to me, too.
