[‘Supercommittee’ membership already a source of contention]
[Congressional leaders have until Aug. 16 to name the 12 members of the newly created “supercommittee” to deal with reducing the deficit, but {special interest} groups are wasting no time in pushing their choices for the panel]

If the committee membership has been decided yet, it hasn't been published yet; but we know that isn't a reliable indicator.
This committee has the prospect of continuing until WE the PEOPLE stop it. It's a monster that will most likely grow by feeding on itself until stopped by outside force.

Thanks for posting this, CSFCG.
This "Super Congress" or "special committee," or whatever they wish to call it, concerns me, too. I hope your post can generate some constructive discussion.
Does anyone know how long this committee will be allowed to live? Is it solely to deal with the next round of budget balancing, or does it live forever? Or something in-between?
Does it concern anyone, beside me, that the insurance companies, Koch Bros, and other big businesses, etc., would only need to purchase one Democrat (if they didn't already own one of the Dems appointed) to *own* the "committee," since they already seem to own all the professional Republican politicians? Or, am I just over reacting to that?
I am wanting to think through this, but the info is sketchy... at least, that I have been able to find so far.
